RP: Fundraiser Party
Who: Rolf and ANYONE who wants to come to the Scamander Fundraising Christmas Party of Awesome

What: The Scamander Fundraising Christmas Party of Awesome

Where: The Scamander Estate

When: Evening, Dec. 23rd

Rating: I’ll call it SFW but if needed I can adjust it

Note: Tag yourselves in, please; also, if you want to talk to Rolf, please, let me know! He's here to talk to any and every one! Also, there's a very tasty buffet type deal, and a very awesome dessert table by Melinda's Sweet Nothings, and all sorts of good things.

The Scamanders had been hosting the fundraiser on the Eve of Christmas Eve for many years. It was considered by most to be one of the Christmas parties, even though a donation was required for a plate. Not an exorbitant amount, but a goodly enough one that they could earn funds for the coming year to help with the rescue. The food was always exquisite, as was the wine and other alcohol; the music was considered divine, and these days weren’t just the classics of his grandparents’ and parents’ time, but with a bit more modern in order to entice the younger generation. There was dancing, of course, as any decent formal party offered.

So while it was black tie and a fundraiser, it was also laid back in a fashion that some parties were not. The estate was decorated tastefully and elegantly for Christmas, magical in a way that was only partly magical, and the service was discreet. The Scamanders, though not an original family, had had money for more than a few generations and knew how to deploy it. The fundraiser of course depended on more than the money per plate, but those enjoying themselves, the generosity of the season, and the alcohol all often combined for them to make out very well for a very good cause.

Rolf was the nominal host of the evening, though he still considered that his grandfather’s role. He and his grandmother still greeted most everyone, but Rolf had been in charge of a lot more of the proceedings than ever before. His parents were rarely around and indeed, he wasn’t certain that they were even attending tonight; he tried not to think on it. But his sisters were all in evidence except for Carpathia, who had her own obligations with her husband in France, or so was her note of apology.

So far, Rolf rather thought the evening was going swimmingly.

Rolf laughed. He still didn't quite believe her -- or Dennis -- when they told him that he was wildly attractive. But he was getting used to it, and developing a bit more of a sense of how he appeared to others. It was slow, mostly because he had never received much in the way of compliments on his looks growing up. If anything, his mother had been critical. "Well, if we ever get dreadfully short on funds," not that that would happen unless he somehow got himself disinherited, "we can put that theory to the test."

"It is an experience. And I am getting mroe used to it. Grandfather is right in that regard." Though Rolf would never give up the casual look -- not that his grandfather had, really. When not in the public eye, the old man was casual, a remnant from his own animal-chasing life. "Besides, I get to see you all draped in pretty fabrics, and I can't say that's a hardship in the least." Though Rose was attractive in anything, personally.

Rolf squeezed her fingers gently. "I think we'll be leaving tomorrow morning? I wrangled for enough time to wrap everything up. Grandfather said he'd handle the rest and to enjoy the trip." The old man had gotten a bit more relaxed these last few years, or perhaps he just didn't take Porpentina as seriously as he had there for a while. "I do hope they don't call you away until at least Christmas has passed, though."
