Go Go Appleby!
Who: Seamus, Susan & Dean
What: Listening to the Quidditch
Where: Seamus's flat
When: Saturday afternoon
Rating: Bad language.

After a surprisingly busy lunch shift, Seamus raced up to his flat to make sure everything was ready for Susan and Dean. Despite how little time he seemed to spend there, it always managed to get messy. He had a bad habit of dropping wet towels wherever he happened to be when he decided he was dry, and his socks and shoes rarely made it to the bedroom. A few of his mam's best tidying charms, though, and everything was clean and presentable - not that Susan would have cared, and Dean certainly wouldn't have done.

A wave of his wand tuned the wireless to the right station, pre-match coverage had already started so all Seamus had to do now was wait. There was some of Dean's lasagne left for dinner, still under it's chilling and preserving charms until it was needed and there was (as usual) a wide variety of juices and mildly alcoholic beverages. He kicked off his shoes in the kitchen, somewhat ruining all his hard work, and mixed himself a Virgin Mary.

"Yes, weekends," Susan said with a smile, "You remember those right? In fact next weekend I should invite you both 'round to my place, make a dinner party of it. What do you say?" Susan smiled, suddenly very taken with the idea of having people over to help fill out her ridiculously oversized house.

She laughed, amused at Seamus' lack of subtly, at least in the confines of trying to win The Bet. "Gorgeous is it? I'll have to remember that one, it's a great nickname for you Dean." Her smile turned thoughtful as she considered various people who might fit the bill. "Let me ask around," she told Seamus seriously. "I may know some people who would kill for a chance to work here."

She rolled her eyes and turned to give Dean a full compliment of Meaningful Eye Contact at Seamus' overzealous display of enthusiasm. "Ophelia sounds lovely, handsome. You two sound like you'll get on great." For a moment, she almost felt bad for the woman, but soothed her conscience with the reminder that she would buy a large amount of her jewellery.

She was about to say something else when the commentator suddenly began squealing with excitement as Appleby's seeker suddenly dived. A few seconds later, the match was over, and Appleby had won. "Well," she said, grinning like a maniac, "Shall we eat?"

"Sort of." Seamus frowned, mentally scanning both his and Dean's schedules for the upcoming week. He had both of them memorised, even before they were affixed to the notice board in the staff room. "We could do Friday. At least, neither of us is working Friday evening." He glanced up at Dean again, assuming that if his friend had plans he'd already know about then. "You're not busy, are you?"

If he flushed slightly at Susan's questioning, it could easily be put down to how warm his flat was with the three of the squashed on his sofa like this, or to the spice in his drink - which he took a large gulp of instead of making any reply. "Will your brother be at this dinner party?" He liked Edgar well enough, but this habit of his friends' siblings developing crushes on him was both disconcerting and a little frustrating. He'd really rather people his own age were developing crushes on him, but of course he had no such luck.

Seamus cheered again when Appleby's seeker caught the snitch, this time genuinely caught up in the excitement. "Congratulations, Susan," he said, making a little bow with his upper body. "But don't think this means you're going to beat Kenmare to the finals." He got up with only a minimum of reluctance. "Would you like a celebratory drink?"

Scrubbing a hand over his face Dean tried to remember if he'd agreed to do anything else on Friday. Clearly he wasn't working, Seamus would know that. "Not that I know of. We still need to take Jess and Cat out at some point though, or I'll start getting phone calls when I go to the pool." Dean had a mobile phone that his family could leave messages on for him to pick up when he was out of magical interference, which mostly happened when he went swimming.

He could tell that Susan was trying to communicate something really important or significant to him, but he couldn't interpret her look, so he brushed it off. If she wanted to say something she could. It might lose her the bet if his guess was right, but she could say something.

His mind's eye helpfully conjured the image of the rapidly diving seeker for him and gave a little whoop as the announcer relayed his success. "Excellent, that goes nicely with West Ham winning too! And yes. Food, please. Brilliant though it was that brownie only filled a small corner!"

"Excellent," she crowed, "I'll invite a few other people around too." She shook her head slightly at Dean's mention of his mobile cellphone, and then grinned at the thought of Jess and Cat. "I haven't seen Jess and Cat in forever! Why not bring them around too?"

She rolled her eyes at Seamus' rather transparent question. "I'm sure I can convince Edgar and his girlfriend to come over yeah. Why's that, charming? You're still not fanning your ego on the fact that he used to have a crush on you are you?" She winked wickedly at him, vastly amused at the propensity of the siblings of Seamus' friends to develop crushes on him. She looked at Dean and shook her head, patting him on the knee.

"Oh West Ham won as well?" she asked, high fiving Dean. "I think we all know Appleby will kill it in the finals, and to confirm that, why don't we get handsome here a drink and eat some lasagne!"
