Journal: Alicia Spinnet
It’s that time of the year again: back to school. Quite a few of you helped out with the trips to Diagon Alley to get some of the Foundation’s kids ready to go, and for that we are truly grateful. Now we’re asking for your help and support again, this time with helping a handful of students (and in some cases, their families as well) getting safely on-board the Hogwarts Express:

1 first year students and their family is spending the weekend in London, have requested assistance at the train station.
4 students (second year and up) are without transportation to King’s Cross for various reasons. Portkey and Floo access will be provided.

If you can and if you are interested in helping out, please contact me and I will pair you up with a student as well as fill you in on the hows and whys.

Private to those with children: During a talk with Dominic Chambers (the handyman at Finnigan’s) talk fell on the possibility of Transfiguring The Roost into something other than a bar setting and that maybe this could be used for playdates. This would be fun for the kids, it would give us parents a chance to get together while giving the children a new experience and it will give Dominic material for his portfolio.

Would any of you be interested in this? Maybe once or twice (or more) a month?

Seeing as how you're the one to claim my Wards to be faulty, I believe you're the one who should produce proof to back it up. I have checked things on my end, and my claim remains: there is nothing wrong with my Ward.

It's no more odd than arranging chess tournaments, Gobstones or choir rehearsals in the same space. Finnigan's may be a pub, but it appears to be serving as a community hub as well. You are, however, free to direct your concerns to Seamus, although at this point nothing has been arranged, and it will not unless we have his permission.

I would say that having no child to escort is proof enough.

No real concern, just making conversation. You'd be amazed at how often I have to settle scheduling disputes for gobstone tournaments.

Alicia
Have you been able to secure everything you need for the students?

Seeing as how you're male I'd only take that as proof if you'd never had sex with a woman.

I appreciate your concern, and they are valid - in fact this could be considered preparation for any objections that my come our way. It won't be an overly frequent thing, so I doubt any of the regularly scheduled activities would be influenced by it.

Blaise
I have, however, if you're offering I would like to have someone as back-up in case anyone has to cancel. Unfortunately I can't help out as much this year as I would have preferred, seeing as how my own children will be starting school that same day.

Such a low opinion of men? Trust me, if I had a child I would know.

Alicia
If you have an older student who needs transportation I can help arrange the Knight Bus for them and cover fare if needed.

Not exactly a low opinion of men as much as the possibility of a one night stand not informing you of changing conditions. Do you really know the current state of every single woman you've ever been with?

Blaise
I do have a 7th year student whose mother withdrew their request for an escort. Should I check and see if he'd be interested? I'm certain the Knight Bus would be preferable to Muggle transportation to the nearest public Floo in Cardiff.

So you're saying I should carry a low opinion of women? And I don't mean in a general sort of way. I would like to believe that any of the women I've been with are mature enough to share that information.

The Knight Bus will take them all the way to Kings Cross if desired so they don't have to take a floo.

No, that's not what I'm saying either. Consider the scenario, where a woman you've been with finds herself pregnant. She makes the decision to keep the child, however knowing and respecting you and the life you lead she does not want you to feel obliged by the choice SHE made. It may be misguided concern and I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying that it doesn't necessarily comes from a bad place.

Do you want to get the Ward tested by a professional?

I will let them know and get back to you on the arrangements.

All right.

I will.

I'm sorry
Please let me know if I can return your help generosity
