Who: Hannah and OPEN
What: Trying to forget a rough night
Where: Finnigan's
When: Saturday morning around 1:30 am
Rating: TBD

Hannah usually didn't mind working the late shift. It was mostly check ins, helping guests settle in for the night, ensuring the drunks from the bar didn't come in and disturb the area, and closing out the books for the day. Unfortunately tonight had been full of drama. One of their guests had gone down for a few drinks and somehow a drunken duel broke out in the lobby as the local chased the other man back toward his room. Barely ducking a rogue hex, Hannah knew there was no way she could handle both drunken individuals on her own. Therefore, she'd made her way into the pub to find someone to assist her in the matter. Finally, they were able to subdue the two leaving Hannah with a bit of a mess to clean up.

Not wanting to head home just yet Hannah headed down Diagon to Monument Alley where she quickly made her way to Finnigan's. She didn't know if anyone would still be there but a drink to settle her brain before heading to the house was definitely in order. Making her way in to the bar she ordered her drink then leaned back against the bar to see who, if anyone was present.

Travel-lagged from too many time zones too quickly, and with too little blood in his caffeine stream from a late-night session churning out pounds of paperwork for his latest client, Rich had gone straight from his office to Finnigans to decompress. With a black and tan from the bar, he slid into a chair at a table over by the wall to just soak up the noise and peoplewatch.

It wasn't that much later when a girl he remembered from school came in. When she had ordered and looked around the room, Rich caught her eye and nodded to the empty chair across from him. If she wanted to ignore the offer, that would be fine with him, but he always tried to stay on the friendly side of people he knew from the old days.

Hannah gave a small smile at the sight of a familiar face. She recognized Rich from school. Being a prefect had helped her connect to other students so that she at least knew them by sight. Honestly they didn't really talk all that often but had been friendly enough over the years that accepting the unspoken request to have a seat wouldn't be completely awkward.

"Morning," she nodded when she was close enough to be heard. "Or is the proper salutation still night since I'm assuming you've not slept either?" Hannah pulled the chair out and took a seat. A sigh escaped as she settled in glad that she could lean back and just relax for a few moments.

"Morning, night, whatever." There was a bit of a wry twist to Rich's smile. "The problem with the world, is that it is so, well, round. Morning there is night here. Makes for some long days, no matter how you look at it."

His smile grew wider at Hannah's sigh. "I'm guessing it was one of those sorts of nights at the Leaky for you."

"I don't know if I'd define it as a problem," Hannah stated. She hadn't done much travelling. In fact she'd never been out of the United Kingdom. "Isn't that one of the factors that adds to the spice of life?"

"You could say that," she took a long draw of her drink. It wasn't every day that one had to call for back up in the hospitality business. “It’s not every day I get to assist in breaking up a drunken duel.” Hannah didn’t like it when she found herself privy to a battle of any sort. She’d had enough of that to last a lifetime.

Rich shrugged. "Few years back, I might have thought that way. Now, it's just the job. At least I'm only out and about two, three days a week now. Just the phone calls at all odd hours, mostly."

He shook his head. "'Bout the time you get used to the peace and quiet, idiots crop up. Guess they're still not common enough that you need a full-time bouncer if you're doing it. I've got a new martial arts student these days if you need somebody for the occasional evening. Probably do her some good to get a different sort of experience than just training."

Hannah just nodded her head as Rich spoke of time zones. It wasn't something she had to deal with so adding her two knuts wouldn't aid the conversation. In fact, she believed that trying to force a conversation she couldn’t knowledgably partake in would only leave her looking foolish.

"Tom has a bouncer in the pub," she stated nonchalantly. The need wasn't large enough to hire one just for the inn portion of the business. "We usually keep the drama out of the lobby but when one of the guests is bringing it in with them I get the honor of handling it."

"Right," Rich nodded.

"So what have you been up to these days? Now that I'm based back in London, I've been trying to catch up with everybody. For that matter, you all in for the night, or do you fancy going out somewhere? Too wound up still to sleep, myself."

"Nothing too exciting," Hannah shrugged. "Just working, hanging out on occasion, and being the most magnificent daughter." She brought her hand up and tossed her hair as if she were all that.

"I could go either way," she answered honestly taking yet another drink from her glass. "I debated going to Wingbeat tonight but decided I'd had enough noise for one night." Yes, she enjoyed going dancing. Still there were times when the volume of the music was something she simply didn't feel like dealing with.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. I stepped out for a little noise tonight, but sometimes Wingbeat can be just a little too much noise. Thought about seeing who was out on the dance floor, then I got sort of comfortable parked in this chair."

"What with work and working out, all work and no play is how the nursery rhyme goes, I'm probably becoming that dull boy." Richard's smile had a bit of a wry twist to it. Thought I'd have more time for fun since I moved back here... seems I'm doing it wrong though. So I guess I'm open to suggestions."

"The dance floor is always fun," Hannah said looking across at the few couples swaying to the ballad that was currently playing. "Though I much prefer something a little more up beat when I hit the floor." Hannah loved to dance and she would often close her eyes, lose herself in the music, and pretend she was somewhere completely different. That and the fact that she rarely had anyone to hold on the dance floor that wasn't a pseudo brother.

She cocked her head to the side and gave Rich a look of disbelief. "I sincerely doubt your ever truly dull." She tried to search the corners of her brain to recall what it was he did. When she finally landed on it she added, "Surely there's something rather intriguing that you've been working with lately. Like some super secret self unwrapping Christmas paper." Yes, it was a crazy idea but might just be silly enough to spark some sort of suggestion of fun.

"Yeah, well..." Rich chuckled. "Much rather the sort of music where I get to hold the girl close. Might be a bloke thing."

He shook his head no in bemusement. "Inventing new spells and such? Not so much me. Now if you were looking to buy something like that, I could probably find out who was selling it and get you a shipload. Most intriguing thing in my life lately has been wringing out preproduction brooms for Bluebottle before they release them on the open market. But I was asking if you had any suggestions for what to do tonight."

Hannah listened to his statements about work. She had never been a fan of flying but would do so when necessary.

Looking around she sighed thinking of how much she hated working weekends but was glad that she would be off next weekend for Halloween. "Oh," she suddenly piped up, "we could go to one of those Muggle haunted houses. I think there's one in an abandoned building about a mile from the Leaky." She wasn't sure of the exact location but she remembered seeing flyers along the street. "I remember Pop taking me to one a few years back. It was hilarious to see their take on some of our more common occurrences." Ones that reported to be for kids under 17 were usually full of hilarity.

Rich tossed down what was left of his drink in a few quick swallows. With a grin, he stood and offered a crooked arm to Hannah.

"If you think they'll be open this late, I'm game. Even have some muggle bills in my pocket tonight, so I'll cover the admission. Ready to go?"

Hannah also finished her drink and took the arm that was offered as she stood.

"On a Friday the weekend before, I think it's safe to say there may be a few open. Of course at this late hour they were likely to be more scary but she was sure she could survive.

Her other hand landed in her own pocket where she had some money of her own. She thought about arguing that she could pay for her own self but thought better of it. She hadn't been on a date in awhile and could at least pretend this was one if she kept her money to herself.
