Travel-lagged from too many time zones too quickly, and with too little blood in his caffeine stream from a late-night session churning out pounds of paperwork for his latest client, Rich had gone straight from his office to Finnigans to decompress. With a black and tan from the bar, he slid into a chair at a table over by the wall to just soak up the noise and peoplewatch.
It wasn't that much later when a girl he remembered from school came in. When she had ordered and looked around the room, Rich caught her eye and nodded to the empty chair across from him. If she wanted to ignore the offer, that would be fine with him, but he always tried to stay on the friendly side of people he knew from the old days.
