Why have I never spent time in Muggle libraries before? They have so many books on things I've never thought to ask in Muggle Studies. And they have computing devices with access to the 'internet' which has even more information from all over the world in every language imaginable. There must be some way for this technology to function in a magical environment.

After a few hours' exploration around other countries of the Commonwealth, I think I would like to visit Ottawa some day. It looks quite charming, and the Canadian parliament buildings are quite frankly beautiful in architecture. Not to mention it has some excellent resources to use in my 'alternate Muggle identity'.

[Private to Oliver and Penelope]

All right, all my ducks are in a row. I've done the research. I've spoken with Mum and she's ecstatic at the chance to spend more time with Lucy. I'm going to speak with Kingsley tomorrow and give him the news that I'm taking the position.

I spoke with Lucy tonight and she was torn, but I think in the end she understood. This is going to tear me apart, not being able to be with her during weekdays, but I think it's for the best in the end. I suppose I need to learn to let her go a little at the beginning so it isn't as hard when she's eleven and going to Hogwarts.

Merlin, I'm really doing this, aren't I. Work as a Muggle. Have I gone mad?

You're brilliant, you know that? When was the last time I told you that because you are and deserve to be told often. I'll visit Mum this week and ask where I can get such a thing made and if it can come with some sort of charm to make it appear like something else to Muggle eyes.

How else have you been of late?

I like it when you say it think the last person to heap such effusive praise on me was..you. You're terribly biased, Percy Weasley.
Sounds like a plan - let me know if you need me to have a look at the charms or give them a prod?

I'm good! Had a lovely conversation with my sister about my lack of suitable clothes. Apparently I dress like a 60 year old maid (her words - not mine) so she's sent something over for this date tonight. How do you do social again, Perce?

I will have you know that I am completely unbiased and objective in all things. Of course, if you believe that then I might have a piece of property in Spain to sell you as well. I will let you know when I have the clock made.

Your sister is one to talk. If you ask me, you dress perfectly fine. What exactly did she send you that she felt was appropriate? She knows this isn't a real date, doesn't she? If Richard- I am perhaps the last who should be asked such a question. For me, social is either a bedtime story and trip to the zoo, or an in-depth discussion on the value of magical hemp in broom construction.

Hahaha, I think I fell for that one a few too many times but you get points for trying.

I think its her revenge for not being able to raid my wardrobe growing up - cardigans were never her thing but this isn't so bad. Its sort of blueish dress and kind of lacey. Shorter than I'd wear normally but she sent over a cardi that I might just not send back to her. It's just been a while since I've played at being a girl but it'll be fun. If not then I can always head home.

See, that sounds interesting; one thing that drives me bonkers is people who can't understand how to be in a room with someone else and not talk. There's something very enchanting about companionable silence, especially when both parties are reading a book.

Penny, you've always been a girl whether 'playing at it' or not. I'm sure you will look lovely and breathtaking in whatever you choose to wear, and any man or woman with eyes would see you for the woman you are.

Perhaps that is because at times it seems like fewer people read than when we were younger. But I agree completely about the companionable silence, particularly when it is punctuated by being amused by a particular passage and looking up to the other person, only to find that they are looking back, and even though both are reading something completely different, it doesn't matter because at that moment, it's all part of the very same experience.
