Name: Faynia
Fandom(s) you are working on for this fest: Harry Potter
Participation: Writer, mod, and reader
The one item from your list that you most want to complete: My hpslashnotsmut fic
Items with a deadline other than this fest: Erm...all of them. hpslashnotsmut, hd_inspired, harry_holidays, hd_holidays, and the three fics for snape_after_dh.
Most fun item on your list: A cross between one of my snape_after_dh fics and the fic I'm going to be writing for hd_inspired
Item you are dreading the most/need the most encouragement on: My hd_inspired fic. Yes, I did just say it was fun, but I've written very little smut and this fic requires it. Well, I say it requires it. That doesn't mean that's true.
How do you start a project? Depends on the project. Most of the time I see a prompt, get one definite scene, and build from there. I never outline, although I probably should, I never take notes, also something I probably should start doing especially with NaNo coming up and the scenes are already playing out in my head for that.
In what conditions do you work best? Morning and early evening, but I'm either not awake enough, or too busy doing something not fic related to write.
One thing that always inspires you to create: Sometimes a song will do it for me, but more recently it'll be a concept I've read somewhere else that I'll take and try to do something new with.
One general thing you would really like to improve on: POV changes and Character voices, especially of the epilogue generation characters.
Advice and/or questions regarding the creative process that you have for the other members of the community: I need to get better at time management. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to get my act together and not put things off until the last possible millisecond?
A teaser from something you've got at least partially done:
They burst through the door, panting, giggling and collapsed on the stairs.
"Mum!" Lily called, between giggles. Severus was trying to flatten his hair beside her. She pulled out her hair tie and gestured with her finger for him to turn around so she could get at his hair. He protested the need for the tie, but eventually gave in when he heard a cabinet door shut down the hall. Lily grinned and grabbed at his hair, raking her fingers through the slick black locks and pulling it all into a low pony tail at the base of his neck.
"Ha!" she declared, kissing the back of his head. "Perfect!"
Severus mumbled something, and two spots of colour reappeared on his cheeks making him look sunburned. "Thank you," he said gruffly.
“Lily, is that you?”
Severus pulled at the small ponytail, looking at her uncertainly. She wanted to reassure him that he looked fine.
“I’m in the hall, mum!” Lily called back, slinging an arm along Severus’ shoulders. She pecked his forehead like her mother sometimes did to her when she was scared. It didn’t seem to help a lot. Actually it just made Severus tenser.
“Is Severus with you, sweetie?”
“Yeah, he’s here!” She smiled at him and had to stop herself from giggling at his scowl. He looked like he was going to be sick. “You ready?”
“No, but I suppose I should prepare myself, yes?”
Lily shook her head and pulled Severus to his feet. “Its just cookies with my mum. It’s not like you’re having tea with the Prime Minister.”
