Yuzuya cleared his throat, looked around, and then leaned forward over his beer to ask a very delicate and embarrassing question. "Ahem. This... you and me, here, this isn't... a date, is it?" Cause if Kotetsu liked 'trim' then it was possible that Yuzuya himself, being 'beanpole,' fell in under that heading.

"You and me?" Kotetsu echoed, and then it clicked in his brain. For a long moment, he was tempted to say 'yes', just to see his face, but then, Yuzuya was the first non-rookie ANBU who was actually nice. He didn't want to lose his friendship.

"No! Of course not!" He glanced at his chopsticks for a moment, his fingers tightening around them just slightly, debating if he should say. What the hell, it's not like he'd know just from his description, right? "I like someone else."

Yuzuya visibly relaxed, his shoulders loosening. "Okay. Just as long as we have that settled. Cause no offense, it's totally fine with me if you like guys, some of my friends, do too. But I really-- well, not that I have any time for women, to be honest, with work-- but, they're way nicer to look at. No offense," he repeated. So thankful that he wouldn't be hurting any feelings.

So Kotetsu liked someone else, huh? Now that was cause for celebration. Just as long as it wasn't him. Yuzuya delivered half of the rest of the sushi to Kotetsu's plate, and slapped the rest onto his. Kotetsu was left to watch his dinner partner generously distributing the ginger and wasabi. It looked as if Yuzuya thought he was some kind of jolly holiday elf of brotherly tolerance. I'm okay, you're okay. Let's celebrate!

Kotetsu gave him an odd look - so happy? - and then mentally shrugged and applied himself to the food. Yuzuya's effusive mood was catching, and Kotetsu grinned back at him.

"No offense. 's not like I have a chance with him anyway." He shrugged easily.

Yuzuya paused in the devouring of a row of shrimp, and blinked at the younger man behind his glasses. "It might be the tea thing." He nodded to the chuunin's choice of wussy beverage.

Kotetsu blinked, considered his tea. "You think?" he asked, doubtfully. He didn't think that Ginta'd care about whether he drank tea or not.

But then, Yuzuya was older than him. He'd interacted with the other ANBU, right? So he'd know, in general... "In what way?"
