Ava wasn’t sure when she actually agreed to do this, phasing quietly through room after room, unnoticed. Her tactical suit at least made it easier to control, as much as she resented putting the damn thing on and everything it represented. The tech was still good. Richie insisted her skills were perfect for this, and yeah. Of course. Infiltration used to be her purpose, her value, because what other use did the world have for a girl that barely existed in it. She had no real good reason why the concept of doing things for fun annoyed her, but it was at least something other than an assassination, and she knew thoughts like that were a sign she needed to lighten the hell up. Even if the overall objective of this whole prank competition was vague and suspicious. Was it something they actually wanted to win? But she’d already stolen the drill from the auto shop, and she didn’t really want to see the dumb look on Richie’s face if she backed out now. Maybe she’d get him to make more of the grilled cheese for her troubles. It wasn’t the BLTs that Foster used to make, but it was better than anything she cared to slap together.
Ava doubled back to a currently unoccupied room, deciding it was a decent target. She didn't know who it belonged to, only paying careful attention to the rooms nearby her own. She could dig for clues, but it wasn't all that relevant as much as there was hardly anyone else around to hear the noise of the drill. Unlocking the bedroom’s door from the inside and pushing it open, Ava peeked out from behind, motioning for Richie to come quickly with a white gloved hand. She rather get this over with quickly.
