It was just a bit of harmless fun.
That was how Wanda justified it to herself. They were stuck here and they had been given tasks, so why not just play along for the moment. None of the things seemed especially cruel. Just little bits of mischief. It reminded her of her childhood with Pietro, when he had pulled little pranks to make her laugh. She really did miss her brother terribly even now. She doubted the ache he’d left behind would ever truly fade. But she could at least think of happier times. It no longer hurt just to think of him. It was something, at least. Something she could hold on to.
She sat outside, watching as people passed by. Every so often, she would move her hands. Careful. Subtle. Natasha had taught her how to use her powers without drawing too much attention to herself. She moved her hands and then their shoelaces untied and came together. Just a little bit of mischief. No real harm done. She was careful not to pick anyone it might hurt. No children. Nobody who looked like the couldn’t handle tripping. She was not trying to be malicious. She was just having a bit of fun.
