"The last thing I want is for them to throw DeRo back together (or to have Roman pick Marc) without addressing Roman's issues properly."
Totally agree. It would be interesting for Roman to pick Marc without addressing his issues. What I mean is that I can see Roman thinking that his issues are at least partly due to his unfinished business with Marc, that the stem off some of his problems is the fact that he didn't make it work with Marc 10 years ago, and that maybe being with Marc now would fix things. Which, of course, isn't true but I can imagine Roman saying to himself, "That [not coming out] was the biggest mistake of my life and if I can undo it by being the person for Marc now that I should have been back then, well maybe that will make my life different and better." Then he and Marc would be together but Roman wouldn't feel any better about himself and realize that being with Marc now isn't giving him the "redo" on life that he was looking for. Roman would come to realize that he was looking in the wrong place for a solution to his own issues of feeling inadequate. Roman and Marc would have relationship problems because of this and because I imagine Marc wanting to just pick up where they left off without actually developing a relationship. Yes, they definitely had a developed relationship back then but now they are ten years older and different people and their relationship from back then doesn't automatically transfer to today. Anyway, one or both would realize that them being together doesn't work today and they would break up. It would actually be super interesting to me if Marc was the one to break up with Roman - wouldn't that have people talking! It's not an impossibility because Marc is self-aware enough to be able to realize that a relationship isn't working and not delude himself into a OTP mentality. He did say that he wanted to "find out if it could have worked out between us after all" (ep 914) which tells me that he knows that, even if they do get together, it may not work out. After the break up, Roman would have to be alone and actually look validation within himself and address his deeply seeded issues before any sort of reconciliation with Deniz or relationship with anyone else would be possible.
