Remember when..? {Atten: Jou & Hisoka}
Without sound the jagged tear opened black and endless against the blue sky, a second later it had healed up leaving no sign of its ever being there in the first place. However the creature it had allowed to cross through its dark maw soared the sky above the market area of the town below it, eyes watching the people moving through it idly. He wasn't looking for anyone purposely, but when he spotted a certain blond, the massive clawed wingspan dipped to tilt the body into a downward angle to take him down closer.

Affirming the identity of the young man, he briefly considered the choices and promptly decided on the next course of action to be put into effect, starting with once again lowering his flight to brush the tip of one wing down over the top of the blond's head to let him become aware that there was something there with him now. The next action would be the boy's, depending on it, he would decide what course would follow -- or rather one might say just how long the rest of his time here would be, extremely short or perhaps lasting for just a few hours longer, provided they weren't rudely interrupted in the course of their little game.

A bolt of blue-white pierced one of the dark wings, causing the hollow to shriek once more in both pain and outrage, turning its attention from the duo beneath to the new menace now threatening in with something which hurt considerably more than the bullets from the boy's gun had. The avian eyes narrowed as they fell upon the quincy and the large web-shaped bow that was splayed out before the thin white-clad form.

Blue eyes watched the large black form silently as another arrow was formed and lined up with its target. Releasing it, his lips thinned slightly as the thing dodged and the bolt took out a good-sized chunk of concrete instead of hitting the white mask covering the avian hollow's face. It was with some annoyance and disgust that he watched it escape back to its own territory.

Turning his attention back down, he noted the amount of blood on the ground beneath the two and leap down to land beside Jou with some considerable concern. "Jounouchi-san..."

"I'm fine. Thank you," Jou said, his voice hoarse. His eyes were red-rimmed and his tears had left long tracks in the blood smeared on his face. He didn't mention his broken wrist simply because he thought that compared to Hisoka's wounds it was barely anything. And more important it was nothing that would keep him down.

Stroking his fingers shakily over Hisoka's face, he touched the pale, bloodied skin with infinite tenderness. His breathing still sounded pained, but it wasn't as wet and raspy as it had been and that was good, right? "Hisoka? Hisoka, are you okay? Say something."

"Cavalry," he managed, his breath rattling wetly as the fluid slowly drained from his lungs, managing to grin a little up at Uryuu. "Thanks." He set the gun down again gently and just rested against Jou, panting raspily as he felt his insides healing up slower and slower, taxing even his body to its limits, and he breathed a damp, shuddering sigh of relief when the skin on his chest finally started to knit together sluggishly. If his body was doing that, then the important stuff was finished with. He looked up at Jou, still light-headed with blood loss.

"M'fine," he said faintly, reaching up to touch Jou's hand, cupping it to his cheek and smiling a little. His eyes widened a bit as he remembered Jou's broken wrist. "Ah, you're hurt." He wasn't quite dumb enough to try to sit up when the muscle of his stomach was gluing itself back together, but he turned to look at Uryuu, his breathing still labored. "Broken wrist," he rasped, speaking still a fight through his mess of a set of lungs. "Splint?"

"Hmm," Jou murmured faintly, though his broken wrist was barely on his mind. He had gotten hurt before and he'd probably get hurt again, but it all paled compared to what Hisoka had gone through on his account. Stroking his fingers over his cheek, he tipped his head back then. "Kiss first," he said softly, leaning in to breath against Hisoka's lips for a moment before kissing him lightly. He wasn't going to kiss him firmly, not when Hiskoa was still healing, but just a little kiss wouldn't hurt, right? Especially not when ten minutes ago he hadn't even been sure if he would get to kiss him again.

Besides, they needed to do something while Ishida found a splint.

Leaving the two with a small illusion of privacy for now, and pulled out a small phone. He supposed it was a good thing he had it now despite the slight annoyance of its small weight on him, because he didn't think leaving the two completely alone as he would have had to otherwise was the best of ideas at the moment.

Scrolling through the numbers already put into the phone's memory, he found Urhara's number and hit the button to have it dialed. Speaking quietly with the man, he told him what happened and explained in not so many words why it might be better for him and Tessai to come over to help the two out instead of bringing it to a certain healer's attention.

Hisoka hummed softly, pressing his lips briefly to Jou's before he pulled away, not wanting Jou to taste the blood in his mouth, turning to cough and spit again, trying to finish clearing his lungs. He gripped Jou's shirt and sat up carefully, hissing as the new muscle in his arms and chest pulled sharply, just curling against Jou's chest as he panted softly, still healing slowly.

"M'glad you're okay," he said softly, closing his eyes tiredly, his body trembling a little against Jou's from the exertion.

"Yeah, thanks to you," Jou said with a faint frown, wiping the blood from the corner of Hisoka's mouth. Pulling him a bit closer, his movements careful as not to jostle Hisoka's healing limbs, he leaned his cheek against Hisoka's stick-with-blood hair.

"Shouldn't have done that. Was really stupid."

Hisoka made a low sound in his throat, curling closer. "Well, I wasn't just going to sit there and watch as that thing ripped you into pieces. "He nuzzled Jou's throat softly, his eyelids fluttering. "Better me than you. I'll heal up just fine." He reached up and touched Jou's cheek very gently, trying not to smear blood everywhere. "Knew you wouldn't."

"We could have ran. Together. There was no reason you had to die," Jou said, his voice breaking slightly on the 'die'. If there was one thing he wanted to avoid for the rest of his life it was seeing Hisoka like that; ripped to pieces and bleeding, dying for his sake.

Hisoka shook his head softly, curling close. "It could fly; we wouldn't have gotten anywhere if we'd run..." His brow furrowed, reaching up and pulling Jou's head down, resting his forehead against Jou's. "I didn't die. I'm fine." He smiled a little, crookedly. "A bit of a mess, but fine. Promise."

"But you could have." Jou squeezed his burning eyes shut, letting his forehead lean against Hisoka's. "And I don't want you to die for me. It's such a stupid reason to." Jou tightened his hand on the tatters of Hisoka's shirt, leaning close.

"Shhh..." Hisoka hugged Jou softly, kissing his temple and smoothing his hair back from his face, touching his cheeks softly. "No I won't. It's okay. I'd do anything to protect you, Jou, but I won't die on you. I can't, remember?" Hisoka kissed his mouth again, very gently, his fingers trembling as he stroked them over Jou's face.

"I'd say turning your insides into your outsides is pretty much dying in my book," Jou said with a tired grin. He tried not to think of Hisoka like that, bleeding and dying, lest his stomach would flip uneasily again. "God, that was disgusting."

Hisoka shivered and hugged Jou tighter. "Sorry," he said softly, kissing Jou's mouth again gently. "Better than seeing you like that. At least I know I'll be okay." He smoothed Jou's hair away from his face, nuzzling his throat softly.
