[10:30 AM - Shieldwyrm Hall] Though it didn't really have a proper title, the board was known among older guild members as "The Squire Board". It was a small rectangle of cork that hung not too far from a hall of training rooms. There were scraps of paper posted to it, some new, others old and cracked at the edges. After some early training, Foxe couldn't help himself; he scanned the board to read the little missions that were waiting for some lucky guild member: Please help! My kitten is lost. Last seen at The Grande Grimoire. Please contact Sue Kent of the commoner's district for more details. Reward: 60 gil My basement is overrun with rats! For details see Rich Greene at the Blue Bear. Reward: 30 gil per ten rats My husband forgot his lunch! I have it and am working at the Roast. Please come pick up and deliver to Rolf at the Tipsy Sheep. Reward: 40 gil In desperate need of nappies for a new baby. Please deliver to Sean D. of the Commoner's District. Reward: My eternal gratitude and a new pair of leather boots. It went on for a few moments, Foxe reading the various tasks with nothing especially jumping out at him until, he noticed with a frown, he stopped at a task that called for someone to tackle what sounded like a rather large hoarde of monsters. Foxe removed that sheet of paper and started to walk toward another board that held tasks a bit tougher. He didn't want the wrong person, some overconfident squire, going out and injuring themselves. [1:15 PM - The Snuggly Duckling] It was a fairly common sight, Foxe eating his lunch at a corner table of the Snuggly Duckling. He liked the tavern best during the day, before the drunks had settled in. There was enough room in the place to stretch out and it was quiet enough to allow one access to their own thoughts. The woman who'd served him had been young and followed him closely with her eyes. He could tell she liked him because his plate was a bit more full than normal and when she checked on him, she lingered quietly for a full ten seconds, hand brushing against the table in a gentle caress. Foxe didn't mind it terribly, but did wish he could eat in peace. So he looked around the bar for some familiar face, hoping he could grab someone's attention and have company to share the space with. Perhaps the young waitress wouldn't try to bother him if he had a companion. [6:45 PM - Bazaar District streets] Finished with his tasks for the day, Foxe had decided to do a bit of shopping. He'd walked from the Commoner's District to the Bazaar, enjoying the crisp winter air while thoughts of his sister lingered in the back of his mind. Andrea had been having a difficult time of the increase in attacks on the city. It frayed her nerves some, mostly because she had children and was constantly worrying over their safety. Foxe couldn't blame her and wanted, in some small way, to bring his little sister some measure of comfort or distraction. He'd popped into a number of small novelty shops, trying to find the best possible gift, and left them each with new bags to weigh him down. He'd found things not only for his sister (a new dress), but for his nephews (wind up toys) and brother-in-law (a set of kitchen knives). With four bags in one hand, Foxe slowed before a small grocery store, considering stopping in to purchase some supplies for his father. |
