It seemed to Juliette a very foolish way to learn, but she did not feel the need to state this. The man's face was hard, and she could not tell what he was thinking. Did he, perhaps, approve of such foolishness? Not officially, but personally?
There were elders like that in the guild, too, who saw nothing wrong with "do or die" training methods. She had attempted to steer clear of them when she could. Perhaps she was too cautious, but needless risk had never helped anyone that she had seen.
At his question, she answered, "Perhaps," then hastened to add, "not this one. One of the others. I should not leave the city," unaccompanied "today. Do you know if any are urgent?"
