Have sympathy for the werewolf, somebody like you and me...
Who: Wes and Caiden (possibly Gemma?)// CLOSED
What: Wes' time of the month and Caiden keeping him company
Where: The Shrieking Shack
When: Sunday 8th Feb/ night
Rating/Warnings: PG13?
Status: in progress

Wes stopped before the Whomping Willow and glanced around, making the coast was clear. Well sort of, he couldn't really be bothered to check properly. If someone saw him they probably wouldn't get past the tree anyway. He slipped his wand from his pocket and pointed it at a large stone on the ground as the tree swayed threateningly.
"Wingadium leviosa," He muttered, with a nice swish-and-flick of his wand, levitating the stone up before sending it to thwack against the knot in the tree that momentarily paralysed the Willow. He crept forwards and slipped down into the tunnel, having to duck awkwardly because he was really too tall for this shit!

He hadn't waited for Caiden. He never waited for Caiden, because he never wanted to put that kind of pressure on him. To make it seem like he expected him to come along every month. It was a big commitment and all that and he didn't want Caiden to feel obliged. Wes probably wouldn't admit it, but if Caiden stopped coming he'd be heartbroken. He'd gotten to the point where it felt like Caiden kept him sane during these three nights. He wasn't sure what he would do without him. But still, proud as he was, Wes would always act like he could do it alone.
He pushed open the hatch and stepped into the shack, still as dirty and creaky as when he'd left it last, though his and Caiden's foot (and paw) prints covered in a new layer of dust. He made his way through to the livingroom and sighed before taking off his shirt, throwing it onto the broken sofa that sat sadly in the middle of the dark room, looking quite sorry for itself. Wes paused to run his fingers over some of the stuffing poking out of the side, the material ripped by what was quite clearly a set of powerful, sharp, teeth.

Caiden sat back as Wes wandered around the shack and demolished his sausage. He didn't say anything to Gemma, either, but reached out his sausageless hand and touched her arm gently. As ridiculous as it may have sounded to other people, as well as being his sister she was one of his best friends.

"You want another one?" Caiden spoke finally when Wes licked his hand, taking the other sausage from the box and handing it to Wes. "Come on. We'll go for a walk. I brought you something to play with as well-" he smiled, standing and petting Weswolf's head once more, holding out a hand to help Gemma up.

The moon was very bright. Huge and bright. There were no clouds and frost was beginning to settle over the grass. Caiden could smell a lot of forresty things drifting down from the far end of the Forbidden Forest, and he could only imagine how good it must have smelt for Wes.

"Wes?" he called to get his friend's attention, rummaging into his bag again and pulling out an old, battered looking snitch. He'd frozen it earlier, but now with another wave of his wand it flickered into life as well as it could, it's crooked little wings only allowing it to hover a foot or so off of the floor and fly in wonky lines.

Caiden let it go and it fluttered awkwardly off into the trees.

Wes' ears perked up as he chewed happily on the cold fatty sausage, and he cocked his head. A walk! They didn't go for walks often! It was harder for Wes outside, with so many things around to distract him. It was simultaneously wonderful and horrible. It was everything the wolf wanted, but it just made it that little bit easier to slip and forget he was Wes at all. Still, considering it had been such a long time, Wes did deserve the treat of being outside!

His ears swivelled back and forth as they walked through the forest surrounding the shack, Caiden and Gemma leading him further away from Hogsmeade. God forbid any of the residents spotted a huge wolf walking around on the fullmoon. They'd hardly mistake him for a dog!

His nose was on fire, he could smell the grass and the frost, and Caiden and Gemma's breath. He could smell a small mouse making its way through the trees, and an owl watching it from above. Most amazing of all was that he could differentiate each smell for what it was. He glanced up at the moon, white and huge, hanging heavily in the sky. There was a feeling bubbling up inside of him, something he couldn't suppress even with hte aid of the potion. With proud deliberation, Wes tipped his head back, took a deep breath and howled, long and loud, his voice rising high above the trees.

Caiden's voice snapped him out of his moon-sickness and switched him back to reality. His voice and Wes' name. He cocked his head at the thing in Caiden's hand. He didn't know that things' smell. Still, smell on not, with the wave of Caiden's wand, and the sudden movement, Wes knew exactly what it was. Something to chase! Something to hunt and kill! He took off at a run, speeding across the grass instantly, his powerful muscles propelling him so fast even horses wouldn't escape him. He snarled and snapped his jaws around the snitch before he could duck into a bush at the edge of the forest. He felt it's little silver wings beating against his tongue and the roof off his mouth and had to fight the urge to swallow. No, Wes wasn't a wolf! The last thing he needed was to wake up with a stomach full of Snitch! He turned, tail high, and padded back to Caiden and gemma, dropping the rather saliva-coated snitch at their feet, unconsciously playing fetch. If he'd been a tad more human, Wes probably would've died at that thought!

Caiden chuckled as Wes went bounding after the snitch, but his smile faded when the wolf disappeared into the forest. He and Wes didn't make a song and dance about their friendship the rest of the month, they barely spoke to each other, but that didn't mean Caiden didn't spend his nights tossing and turning, watching the moon move through it's phases in the sky, worrying about the other boy.

"I worry about him," he whispered to Gemma, sighing. "I don't...I don't know what to do because..." Caiden frowned. There was nothing he could do. His whole life there hadn't ever been a thing he couldn't solve without a bit of work or money. Now he was left with this, every month, and nothing he could do made it easier for Wes.

The smile returned to his face when Wes appeared and dropped the snitch, picking it up and pepping it with a tap of his wand, releasing it again.

This was something at least.
