Have sympathy for the werewolf, somebody like you and me...
Who: Wes and Caiden (possibly Gemma?)// CLOSED
What: Wes' time of the month and Caiden keeping him company
Where: The Shrieking Shack
When: Sunday 8th Feb/ night
Rating/Warnings: PG13?
Status: in progress

Wes stopped before the Whomping Willow and glanced around, making the coast was clear. Well sort of, he couldn't really be bothered to check properly. If someone saw him they probably wouldn't get past the tree anyway. He slipped his wand from his pocket and pointed it at a large stone on the ground as the tree swayed threateningly.
"Wingadium leviosa," He muttered, with a nice swish-and-flick of his wand, levitating the stone up before sending it to thwack against the knot in the tree that momentarily paralysed the Willow. He crept forwards and slipped down into the tunnel, having to duck awkwardly because he was really too tall for this shit!

He hadn't waited for Caiden. He never waited for Caiden, because he never wanted to put that kind of pressure on him. To make it seem like he expected him to come along every month. It was a big commitment and all that and he didn't want Caiden to feel obliged. Wes probably wouldn't admit it, but if Caiden stopped coming he'd be heartbroken. He'd gotten to the point where it felt like Caiden kept him sane during these three nights. He wasn't sure what he would do without him. But still, proud as he was, Wes would always act like he could do it alone.
He pushed open the hatch and stepped into the shack, still as dirty and creaky as when he'd left it last, though his and Caiden's foot (and paw) prints covered in a new layer of dust. He made his way through to the livingroom and sighed before taking off his shirt, throwing it onto the broken sofa that sat sadly in the middle of the dark room, looking quite sorry for itself. Wes paused to run his fingers over some of the stuffing poking out of the side, the material ripped by what was quite clearly a set of powerful, sharp, teeth.

Wes watched the door shut before falling to his knees. He was still wearing his boxers, but it was just too late to take them off now. He shuddered and another wave of pain passed through him, mixed with nausea, and for a moment he was sure he was going to throw up.
And then it stopped.
He shifted on his feet, lowering his hands to the floor gingerly so he was on all fours, looking around as if to ask the 'powers that be' if that was it. For a moment nothing moved, the room dark and silent. He couldn't even hear Caiden on the other side of the door. It was unnerving. He made to stand up, and that was when it hit him properly.

Wes always had a bet going with himself. He always made it a few days before the full moon, just for fun. He always bet himself that he wouldn't scream. This time he'd do it silently, like a man, embrace the pain and change without a sound.
He never won that bet.
The scream that tore from his lips was almost unearthly, and it was no surprise that the people of Hogsmeade thought it haunted by a violent poltergeist. Tears poured down his cheeks as his bones began to stretch and curve under his skin, his spine pushing up, forcing his back to curve down. His skull began to stretch outwards, forming slowly, painfully, into a muzzle, his voice changing as he screamed, growing deeper, throatier, less and less human. His skin itched as fur slipped through, brown, thick and coarse, and his nails pushed out into claws. It was more painful than Wes could ever remember afterwards, and he was powerless to do anything. He was crippled as his body rearranged itself into a whole new form.
The worst part of the whole thing was that this wasn't even close to how painful it was without the Wolfsbane Potion.

The potion allowed Wes to embrace the wolf as the moon filled, and rather than it taking over him, he became it. His form was different with the potion, more like that of a regular wolf, only significantly larger. Large enough for someone to ride, but Wes could only take so many indignities. It also allowed for him to keep some semblance of control. Though he was more animal-like, Wes could remember people and stop himself from attacking anything in the near vicinity, as long as he didn't allow himself to get bored. When his mind wasn't engaged, it was easy to slip, for Human Wes to sleep whilst Wolf Wes took over, and he would forget himself.

Wes' transformation ended before Caiden uncovered his ears, though for all Wes knew it had gone on for hours (it had certainly felt like it). He whimpered from where he was, curled on the floor, a large, brown, furry, wolf.
