It had been a roller coaster of a week, starting with a party and then a loss not long after, but then that was just kind of the way things were here. You had to make the most of the good times because the bad were always sure to follow quickly on their heels. And sure, Matt knew that in his own life, but the balance had always been a little more difficult to find, he was working on it here though, trying to be better and more present in his life beyond the mask.
And that meant checking in with his friends, friends like John. Hopper had been their connection point for the most part, but Matt thought it was about time they forged their own connections too, beyond fishing and teasing their town sheriff. Though they could continue doing that whenever the mood struck as well.
Today though, it was on the eve of the weekend and Matt was stealing just a little bit of John's time before they finished up for the week, inviting him out to lunch before they could truly call the week finished. "You hanging in there?" He asked after they'd gotten their food, not that he was only asking about John, but he'd work his way around to asking about Hopper's state of mind later on.
