Stephen had an open book in his hand as he entered the Coffee Green. He’d been reading that book all morning between his tasks at the front desk at Pickman. Once his shift was over, he couldn’t quite put it down.
After what had happened to Quentin, Stephen had decided it would be best to educate himself on Todash Space. And while there didn't seem to be any books about the weird alternate dimension monster world, there were books regarding similar situations in other realities. Stephen wasn't sure if it would help prevent anyone else from being stuck in Todash Space, but it didn't hurt to try.
Once his coffee was ordered, Stephen finally closed his book and tucked it under his arm, meandering over to the waiting area. Then and only then would his attention pan to the space around him, as well as who else was waiting for their coffee -
Stephen stopped dead in his tracks, spotting a familiar face. One he wasn't exactly thrilled to see.
Poor Mobius didn't deserve the constant cold shoulder that Stephen gave him. Somewhere deep down in Stephen's core, he knew he was being unfair. Mobius had never been malicious towards him, either here in Dunwuch or at the Crown Plaza. And yet, every time Stephen spotted Mobius around Pickman - especially around the office, where he knew Mobius was likely coming around to say hello to Loki - Stephen would speed off in the other direction, clearly avoiding him.
Which made this moment particularly awkward.
Stephen could take his usual coward's way out. But then he wouldn't get his much-needed coffee. So here he was, anxiously standing beside Mobius, trying to decide whether it would be best to keep his mouth shut and wait this out or actually say something to Mobius. After a very uneasy pause, he decided on the latter.
"Hey."
Yeah, sure. Ignore Mobius for months and hey was the only thing he could manage?
