WHO: Indiana Crawford ---> Chewbacca
WHEN: September 3rd
WHERE: Crawford Home ---> Echo Base
SUMMARY: Indiana gets a memory of the night Han and Luke were left out in the wilderness of Hoth
WARNINGS: Nope.
"Sir, all the patrols are in! Still no ---" Though the deck officer had raised his hand, and the pair had turned to look to one of the few occupants hanging around the entry way, she wasn't the only one intently listening to the conversation. They only noticed her. But he was close by, listening just as she did, and he cast a look in her direction. Leia's sense of worry was a mirror of his own. He'd have been worried about Luke had it been just Luke alone; but it wasn't. Han was gone too. Long before this incident, when the afternoon was coming to an end and the temperatures were beginning their rapid dissent as they always did come nightfall, the tinkering on the ship above had stopped. He was close now to the droids. He figured that if anyone were going to detect them, it would be the astromech unit. "--- Still no contact from Skywalker or Solo." While the deck officers moved along with the protocol droid towards the Princess, Chewie himself moved towards the astromech unit. He lifted a hand towards his ear, cupping it against his head, as if trying to amplify his own senses and hear out into the void of the night. He could not. He thought of Han and his stomach turned with worry as he made his way back towards the Falcon. He'd caught more snippets of conversation but as the shield doors began to close, and the protocol droid gave a useless statistic of the chance of survival, Chewbacca leaned in and pressed his head against the ladder. Casting one final glance towards the door as it closed, he could not help but let out a mourned cry. If Han was alive, and Luke as well, the chances of them still being so by morning had just decreased by thousands of times over. And Chewbacca did not need a protocol droid to tell him this. |
