Who: Red and Rydia What: Mythbusting. Kind of. Where: Balamb fields When: Monday, early evenings. Rating: P for Portal references.
In the open plains between Garden and the town of Balamb, far enough from the main road that passers-by couldn't see, Red had begun setting up a makeshift testing facility that appeared far more technically sound than it was. Mostly because her version of the scientific method involved flying by the seat of her pants. Whatever money she earned as of late had clearly been poured into winning Gbay auctions on secondhand equipment of varying shapes and sizes, complete with a pair of lab coats and protective eye gear. The former weren't strictly necessary, but they looked cool. No harm in wanting to present a polished image!
Today's data collection would pertain to spell duration; the minimum and maximum output of certain elemental magics at their every known level. Everyone knew blizzaga did more damage than blizzara, but why? What were their immediate effects on the human body? How did it make an impact viable on the field of battle without resulting in more documented cases of instant death or lasting hypothermia?
And those were just some of the questions she had, revolving solely around one element of many. The basic principals of where to find junctionable spells, how to draw them and later summon them were common. Furthermore, everyone knew which elements were opposite to each other on the spectrum. Red wanted to dig a little deeper, and felt Rydia's enthusiasm for the subject of magic as a whole might be a good fit. It also worked out that she was SeeD and Instructor both. There was no conceivable angle from which she could get in trouble for involving an accredited, voluntary member of Garden personnel in her experiments. Fingers were crossed that safety wouldn't be an issue, but she also wanted her butt covered in the event something went wrong.
Upon Rydia's scheduled approach she wasted no time in thrusting out the spare coat and goggles. "Let me start with a standard disclaimer. Keep it mind that although fun and learning are the primary goal of all Redmane Incorporated activities, serious injury may occur." It was a joke. Mostly. She hoped.
