Drabble Day 2021 - Rules and Ravishing Assistants!
Hello darling Eskimos and potential other wanderers in the woods! Welcome to this year's edition of Drabble Day!
It's hard to believe, but this is our 10th year of doing this! We haven't exactly tallied how many drabbles that was over a decade, because tallying isn't our forte at the best of times, but we feel qualified to estimate it's a shit-ton. Bring it in, BBs!
(These... may crop up. Your mods are a tad bit obsessed. #sorrynotsorry)
We know you're raring to go, so without further ado, allow us to introduce this year's assistant...
Yes, no, we know, Moira. You told us. At least, we think that's what you told us, because as usual it was a little more sesquipedalian style than substance. BUT, we were lucky enough to secure the very sought-after services of Top Girlboss Under 30, Alexis Rose!
Hi guys! OMG this is so exciting!! I am super-thrilled to be hosting this very special Singles Evening for you!
-Uh, no, Alexis, again, it's not a Singles event. It's Drabble Day, remember? We sent you the rules memo? It's the thing where we write what you called "itty-bitty little fanfic hors d'oeuvres"? And some of them will probably involve porn about your brother?
-Tough, you signed a contract. Well, it's technically not very enforceable, and also we can't pay you, but you seemed very into the idea at the time.
-So, our lovely assistant, would you like to introduce yourself a little bit?
Yes! Two things:
-Noted. And the second one?
I actually brought my audition tape, which is super-fun and will tell you a little bit more about me!
-Okay! So that's Alexis, everyone, if you don't already know her! Thank you for that.
-Now, would you like to present the rules and theme, maybe?
Ok, no worries. You get ready, we do the rules.
So, darlings, after 10 years you probably all know the drill! Every hour on the dot, starting at 8am EST, 1pm GMT, 2pm CET, 12AM NZST, we will post a prompt here in the Drabble Day community. Participants are then invited to write and post a drabble, or multiple drabbles if you so choose, inspired by that prompt. Please post your drabbles as comments to the relevant prompts post.
Our theme this year is...
...so our prompts will relate to myths and fairy tales in some way, but you are as ever welcome to interpret them as liberally as you please.
Single drabbles, double drabbles, triple drabbles, or drabble series are all welcome, and of course you can add as many as you like to previous prompts if you have the time within the timeframe of the challenge. Just remember that a drabble is exactly 100 words, not including titles (who has time for titles anyway!)
This is a multi-fandom challenge, so you can write in any fandom (including original work), any pairing, and any rating. The only thing we ask is that for better clarity, you put the fandom, as well as character(s)/pairing(s), in the subject line of your comment.
The challenge will last for 24 hours. Totals will be tallied after the challenge finishes, and participants will receive their praise and adoration in an awards post a couple days after.
That's it for the admin stuff! Let's have some fun!
*Do NOT send nudes. I mean, you can, and we'll enjoy them, but they will not count towards your drabble tally!
