So, I attended the Republican National Convention this week. That was certainly a shitshow interesting. As a (rare, Democrat) guest of some old friends, I had the good fortune to be invited to this year's HomoCon, which is a party for gay Republicans put on by GOProud (I know, clever right? Even Republican gays are more creative than their hetero counterparts.) As a [...] straight, Democrat attendee I was obviously there as more of an ambassador, but it was great to see some familiar faces and I even got a disco ball keychain for my daughter. I also got to spend some time with my father during the RNC, and although he still hasn't quite forgiven me for turning out liberal, a box of cigars seemed to help him forget for a few days.

What are some other effective methods you use to help your parents forget about how they're supposed to be disappointed in you?

[Finally he gets it, although he's just left with more questions.]

Sure. Ever been to Market Street Cafe?

[...] Does that mean a more formal gown is in order?

that counts as two questions, by the way. - & yes, on ogden.

so long as the neckline is respectful, you may wear what you like.

when works for you, dep?

Dep?

This Sunday should work fine, as long as you're free.

Do you usually ask near-complete strangers out for tea?

deputy.

my evening is booked, but i have time before noon.

& seeing as i routinely fuck near-complete strangers, tea is hardly a concern. why? do you usually agree to tea with near-complete strangers?

Booked as in

How about eleven, then?

I don't get asked to go to tea with strangers - so I suppose you could technically say that I usually say yes when it happens.

Do you have pets?

11 it is. i already know what you look like, so i'll find you.

fair enough.

i don't. the noise would scare them, i'd imagine. - are you afraid/nervous to meet me in a public place?

Not scared. Not afraid. I'll say [...] wary. Not of you, though.

Why do you think that Tristan person accused me of being gay?

Have you read the ASoIaF books?

hm. [He considers again for a short while.] when i first started working in the city, so i was about 18, i knew a man named bo. he & i were walking home at about 4 in the morning one tuesday night. stupidly, we took a shortcut through a place we oughtn't have &, shortly thereafter, were set upon by about six large, angry men. we knew it was likely they would be there & we shouldn't have tried to cut through, but we were both in varying states of non-sobriety. It all happened so fast that my guess of the number of men could very well be off. - anyway, bo was walking ahead of me, so it was him they saw first - & him they grabbed first. before they could get their hands on me, i ran. i didn't even look back. & to this day, i couldn't tell you what happened to that man. i think that's the worst i've done.

why can't i ask about the half?

Because I'm not comfortable talking about it.

i left home shortly after graduating from high school, & as i was walking on the side of the road toward vegas i was picked up by a man named charles. he offered me the job & i took it.

what's the worst thing you've done? now i'm curious.

The worst thing I've ever done. I guess that would be getting into a relationship with someone and not treating her how she deserved to be treated.

What do you think you would have done if you hadn't been picked up by Charles?

kept walking until i got here. i hadn't thought it out much beyond that. i was running away, so there was little planning involved.

how do you think your life would be different without your child?

It's hard to imagine. I'd be a lot more lonely. My life sort of revolves around her.

does the fact that the people in our heads had sex make you uncomfortable?

Are you asking if it made me uncomfortable that they had sex, or if it made me uncomfortable that they're gay? The answer to both is neither.

When was the last time you were in trouble with the law, and why?

i'm asking if it made/makes you uncomfortable to interact with me after the fact.

a man called the cops on me a few weeks ago, but nothing came of it. mostly he was upset that once he proved himself to be not worth my time, i sent him on his way. it happens.

Wouldn't dream of it. This is the one forum in the world in which I'm not expected to campaign. Pretty refreshing.

What are your [...] personal relationships like, if you have sex with other people for money?

hm, in what manner do you mean? do i have a partner/friends? or what are those actual relationships like in quality? some people i know try to keep things very separate & that works for them. i've never been too concerned about strongly keeping work from "pleasure."

are you divorced?
