It's nice to know I can't go ten minutes in a new city without getting punched.  Welcome to Vegas, I guess.

I've always had pretty spectacular timing. [He's worried, and it comes through in his tone.] What aren't you telling me?

[Half-smile.] You have awful timing, always have. [A long pause.] I saw Alexander die. Not...in person, through someone else's eyes. Through a memory.

It works for me sometimes. [...] Fuck, Nick. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. Do you [Abrupt stop as he changes the question he wants to ask] want to talk about it? Tell me what happened?

[A pause as he considers his options.] Alexander did some terrible, inexcusible things, and finally it caught up to him.

[Well that answers his original question.] Whatever he did, he didn't deserve to die for it. [...] No one's after you, right?

I know he didn't deserve to die. He didn't deserve to die at all! [Angry sigh, and then more composed.] I hop--no, of course not.

[Gently.] I know you know that, I know. [Concerned, but he doesn't want to scare Nick.] You guys are identical twins, Nick. I'm not saying it's something to worry about, just...be careful, alright?

[A sigh.] I know, but I don't think anyone else...hurt by him knows about me. I don't know, Spence. Vegas has not turned out to be the best place on earth.

I can't, Spencer. [He presses his palm into one of his eyes.] Stephanie's needed in her door. I have to stay here. I can't just leave. You can't either. And, it...it's been too long for everything to return like a snap of our fingers.

I'd assume so, unless whoever you'll have will be okay with never going through his door. [Full of regret.] Spencer. You know--you know it can't be that...we can't just go back.

I think Ra's will notice if he's missing for too long, unfortunately, and he's bound and determined to find Bruce alive and well. [...] I know. I'll still be here for you, especially if I'm sticking around.

[A looooooong pause, and then with a splash of Steph-induced panic:] You have Drake? [He clears his throat, quiet and more Nick-like.] And I'm here for you, too. I just...my brother is dead, and I don't know what to do with my life, and I can't weigh you down with this.

Tim? Yea. Why? [Firmly.] You can absolutely weigh me down with this, Nick. I'll help you figure out what to do, you know I will. I help you through this. It's what I'm here for, remember?

[Crap, crap, crap. Steph is freaking out and Nick holds the phone away from his mouth to have a firm conversation to calm her down.] I have someone he might know, depending on when he's exactly from in his timeline, though I do believe it's late enough. [Sigh.] No, Spence. You shouldn't even know about Alex. You might get dragged down.

[Trying to figure out what the problem is, and then he remembers that Nick said Stephanie. There's a slight groan on his end.] One issue at a time, alright? Look, I'm glad I know, and I wish you'd tell me everything. I've always looked out for you, always had your back. Even before we- [A sigh.] I can handle it, Nicky. It's not worse than war.

[Encouragingly.] I know you will. That's all I can ask. [He lets that sink in for a minute.] Now...[He goes back to lying down on his bed.] We going to talk about the two of them or let them figure it out on their own?

[A quiet laugh.] Let's let these kids figure it out on their own. [Stephanie's peeved as hell, but he fights to keep that out of his voice.] It'll be like those awful teenage dramas we're supposed to enjoy if we were stereotypes.

[Laughter of his own, and a lot of the tension melts away just hearing Nicky laugh.] Speak for yourself. I still marathon Gilmore Girls when I'm sick. Nothing quite like Lorelai Gilmore and chicken soup to make you feel better.

You're embarrassing yourself. There are far better things to do when you're sick. Video games, comic book reading. Gilmore Girls? I'm ashamed.

You're right, Call of Duty is my go-to game when I'm sick, but man, I haven't picked up a comic book since I was deployed. I have, however, caught up on a shit ton of movies. Gotta say, I think Marvel's got the edge on this movie thing.

[A dramatic pause, then light teasing.] I know I just said I'd try, but I'm reconsidering all of that now. Marvel has a slight edge now, and they do have Joss Whedon, but there is no way they could hold a cup to Christopher Nolan. I need to give you a litany of comics, clearly.

[Laughing.] You're right, Christopher Nolan is amazing but that's one director, who's done by the way, compared to the four pretty kick ass directors that Marvel's got on their team. And you can't blame me for that one. You're my comic store. It's entirely your fault I might be making my way over to the Marvel camp.
