Does anyone have any tips on how to drown out obnoxious twinkling? Especially the judgmental twinkling. It makes it very difficult to work.

Yes. And I'm one of them. Sympathy just doesn't come easily to me.

How old was old enough to start working?

You should at least learn to fake it.

Umm, well I started taking care of myself when I was 8. I babysat for some of my mom's friends when I was like...12. I started real work at 18.

Can't. Won't bother.

So you haven't read for leisure since you were eight. What a depressing thought. To get back to where we started, then, I guess it really is probable you haven't heard of the person being oh-so-righteously indignant in my skull.

Well that's just you being stubborn then.

Exactly. I hadn't even remembered Tinker Bell until the twinkling started. Then I saw a movie cover in a display and figured it out.

That must have been ... depressing? Annoying? I'm not sure what the proper word for the situation is. He's from Phantom of the Opera. Novel version.

A bit of a shock. I bought pretty much every movie I could find with her in it. She likes Hook best out of all of them, I think.

Oh! That's the one with the girl who gets kidnapped by the guy with the burned face right? He lives in the sewers with a mask and it's creepy?

It's a little more complicated than that, but ... yes, in general, that's what the story's about. Very overdramatic.

So where does your person figure in if he's not in the movie?

In the musical and the movie, his role is picked up by Madame Giry. The old woman who takes Raoul down into the Phantom's lair.

She's the one in charge of the opera right? So how come your guy isn't in the musical or the movie?

Laziness or racism, I assume.

That sucks. He's probably not that happy about it, huh?

Honestly, I don't think he cares. Apparently he has bigger problems, as well as me, to deal with.

Bigger problems than being forgotten? Or replaced, rather.

That's not at all fun.

He's fictional. It's not like it really matters in the long run.

Fictional is a relative term now, isn't it?

I really hope so.

How long will you wait for it to go away before you give up?

As long as I need to. Hopefully, it won't involve my death at any point.

I hope it doesn't come to that. You should try to be more positive. Maybe having this guy around isn't such a bad thing.

And I suppose having constant complaining twinkling in your ear isn't such a bad thing, either?

It's not constant, thank god. She's actually kind of quiet now. You just might be my good luck charm.

Or maybe she's too indignant at my constant denigration to actually make a sound. That's not really good luck eventually.
