I'm afraid it's important that we ensure the suitability of the environment early on, as well as establish the unfortunate necessary of visits of this nature within your - and her's - schedules. I understand that it may seem to be rather soon after being granted custody; however, it also allows me a look at how things are going for each of you, and gives me the opportunity to establish a baseline, as it were.

[A brief pause] Now, is the time alright? You'll both be home then, yes?

[Another pause as she listens, and after rubbing her temples, she continues, her voice holding a bit more compassion.] Ms. Robinson, believe me when I say I understand, and I empathize with how Delilah is feeling right now - I wish that I could tell you otherwise, but these visits are mandated by the courts. I was given your file just yesterday and whenever a new social worker is given a case, it is required that we touch bases charges within seventy two hours. I'm sorry, but I cannot reschedule our appointment.
