[There's a drawn in breath at that snarl.] It's not an act, Neil! You- I'm not lying to you. I'm tired of fighting with everyone. I'm not expecting you to forgive me, but- I- I'm sorry I ruined so much for you. I know- I know I'm not right. And I'm going to get help for that. It doesn't excuse what I've done but I just- I wanted you to know. I thought you might at least listen to me. [By the time she's done, her breath is hitching, her words thick with sobs - and Neil should know that Chloe never cries. She doesn't show this sort of weakness to anyone.]

[A few minutes of silence.] I gave you the benefit of the doubt before, Chloe. I gave you a lot of chances. But you know what? You just couldn't move on. You couldn't stop harassing Sam and messing with our lives. You even called my fucking parents, knowing they'd lose their minds. [With an edge.] I don't think you're sorry. Not about Sam. I think you're sorry she survived. I think you're sorry that I still don't want you. There's something really, really wrong with you and your family, and it's a little too late for help. Because, guess what, I don't believe you. You and your crazy siblings hired someone to shoot my girlfriend. The only thing you make me feel now is disgust.

[She's quiet, oh so quiet, in the wake of those words. Then a heavy breath, caught in her throat.] I am sorry! [It comes out as a shout, but she continues more softly.] I'm sorry for all of this and what it's done to you and- and- I don't know what to do anymore. I don't know what to say. [She breaks down then, full on tears, and there's no more words coming out of her.]

[She doesn't move from the bed for a long while after Neil hangs up on her, his words echoing in her ears. She finally pulls the phone away from her face and calmly removes first the battery and then the sim card before throwing all the pieces across the room, watching the flimsy thing shatter. Her guards stir in the penthouse beyond her bedroom, calling out to her, but there's no response from her. There's the sound of a door slamming, instead, as she locks herself in the bathroom, running water soon filling the air as she curls up behind glass shower walls and sobs.]
