Who: Kozue, Keiichi.
What: ~~Advice~~. SPY ANTICS.
Where: On a train, and then, suburbia.
When: After MisaKei breaks up.
Why: Everyone needs more spies.

Kozue was sitting in the back car of the 1300 train, holding a magazine up and pretending to read; she had boarded a scant few moments before the train was ready to depart, taking her temporary spying role perhaps a bit too seriously for the moment. Her hair was tucked underneath another large sunhat, and she was peeking out from over her magazine, looking for one Ito Keiichi.

Was it awful that part of her wanted to hear details on what she was, even now, picturing was an awful traincrash of a breakup? Probably.

Would that stop her from trying to get those details, by hook or by crook? Not at all.

"I am a master of disguise!" She continued to mock-whisper, enjoying the game—she laughed, and tugged her hat down farther over her eyes. "Have we escaped Iburi yet?"

A similar thought was occurring to Kozue—they were clowning around. Were they okay as friends? (After all, his rebound was over and Kozue was, in fact, uncharitable enough to consider Misaki a rebound. After the rebound girl they could, feasibly, maintain a friendship.) Equally prevalent in her mind was the other important question: Was Keiichi okay after his stint as Junior Emperor of Itoburi?

"And why not agree? My mad spy skills need to be used somewhere!"

"We should be just outside the Iburi city limits any moment now," he replied, with mock severity.

...where the Hell had this been when they were, you know, *dating*? It sort of reminded him of how things had been with Misaki before they had gone out. Carefree and fun...but not so much so that it made him uncomfortable.

He would never understand things at this rate.

"I wish I could use *my* skills from that place," he replied. "but they're less applicable in the real world. At least without me getting arrrested."

For one thing, they hadn't known each other almost at all when they'd been dating—this was, of course, fairly normal for Kozue, especially pre-Persona—and for another thing, though she often didn't quite consciously realize it, Kozue had been steadily changing over the last few months. She was certainly a lot less constrained, a lot more willing to laugh or clown around.

It was indicative of comfort, but also of spending too much of her time in a maybe-imaginary maybe-Heaven world full of monsters, surrounded by people like Ito and Sagaki and Satou.

She chuckled a little; "You mean blowing things up? Yeah, probably."

"It...was both more uncomfortable and less so than I thought it would be," Keiichi suddenly said, the mood of the conversation snapping back around to the serious. Kozue nodded, lowering her magazine slightly. "No, that makes sense to me. At least, if you feel like you did the right thing coming out of it—especially if you feel terrible about hurting her but not terrible about not dating anymore."

The distinction was one Kozue had referred to now and again, although, to be fair, she didn't often feel terrible; bad, sometimes, vaguely uncomfortable, not often genuinely destroyed by hurting someone. "She'll bounce back sooner or later," she supplied, trying to be a bit helpful.

"If you need someone to vent to," Kozue said, magazine descending even more as the train continued rattling its way out of Iburi and towards the suburbs—usually on this trip she was full of trepidation, but they weren't headed home and that made her feel sort of free, or really, as someone who had been extended a temporary parole or stay of punishment.

"About any of it that still bothers you. Well, I'm here, I'm happy to listen, and I happen to have the great spy skill of repeating nothing." She flashed a grin—and very much hoped that he'd spill and she could find out the dirt.
