Ducks.
Who: Reizo, ???
What: Duck feedin'
Where: Park
When: Uhh, some time that isn't intrusive to anything going on.
Why: Because ducks.

It had been a nice day -- the sun had rambled up high into the sky and grinned down fierce enough to loosen neckties, cajole the fairer sex into shorts and skirts, cause a few daring individuals to break open the local fire hydrant, and send topsicle sales through the roof.  A few people grumbled over the heat, but the prevailing wind kept the teeth out of it and their complaints.
Reizo was something of a grumbler by nature, but he was smart enough to keep to the high ground where the winds could find him, or to the shade when available.  He’d been lucky enough to find a spot with both after poking around the park, and was now something of a regular.

Reizo sat on a bench, long arms slung over the back and head reclined, wriggling a topsicle stick between his teeth and staring up into the leaves of the tree he was sitting under.  Occasionally he’d lift a hand up towards the tree and turn it ‘round in the dappling shadow and peer hard at it, lips curled down in a frown.  Other times he’d take a call, flipping open his phone and rumbling short and sweet into it, but mostly he reclined on the bench, looking at the tree or his hand or the kid’s baseball game in the field behind him or at the pond.

The pond was small and well kept and across the stone walkway from the bench.  It glistened lazily in the sun, lapped gently at its shallow shores, and kept its fat, feathered inhabitants happy.  Ducks drifted on its surface, quacking sporadically, sending up small ripples that slid smoothly across the glossy top, distorting the reflections of the sun and tree.

Reizo hunched over, long legs jutting up into the air and hands dangling between them, watching the ducks swim and waddle just at the edge of the pond.  He reached to the brown bag at his side, bag crinkling as he reached inside, and produced a loaf of stale bread.  He broke off a piece, considered smushing it in his hand and doing his best to peg a duck with it, but settled on tossing it on the bank and watching the duck’s scrabble over to it and squabble with one another to get it.

Heat ment two things for Misaki, the first was getting out of the dorm, since she knew that the sun was going to be reflective in the room and cause the temperture to rise in it, even with airconditioning, and two, a nice warm day to walk and enjoy the energy outside of the people enjoying the summer.

She loped along the path of the park, a straw sun hat on her head to shade out the harsher rays matching the blue sundress she had on, and listened to the sounds around her. Wind rustling through trees, birds singing as they moved from tree to tree calling for mates or friends, water splashing in the brook that lead to the pond in the park, and her favorite sound by far, kids playing with out a care in the world; after all to them the summer was indefinent. Time didn't slow, but the summer made it feel like a life time would pass, not just days and weeks before school restarted. To Misaki this was truely the point of the holiday, to give yourself time to actually focus on the infinate possiblies of the summer, rather then the harsh realities of the fall which focused on the daily grind of homework.

She took off her sandals as she walked across the grass, giggling some as she spun for just a moment to make the wind rush around her. It was nice to feel the breeze just enough to tickle her face. Turning her attention to the brook she followed it till she saw the pond and noticed a bunch of ducks pecking at bread being fed.

She crouched down near the brook on a stone that was wet, enjoying the lapping of the water over her feet as she watched the ducks squabble over the food. Giggling she looked around for the owner of said food, and was a bit suprised to see the shadow of a familare person. She said nothing, and glanced at the direction just behind that said person and waved at the figure that was standing there with sunglasses pulled up.

As usual Kozue was always perfection, even now in such a simple outfit. Misaki put her fingers to her lip, showing that she was going to be quiet and wait before crossing over the remaining stones, at least until the bread was done so that she didn't bother them and wouldn't distrub the scene.
