Entry tags:kanaye, tom, toru

B&E yet again
Who: Tom, Toru, and Kanaye
What: Apologies
Where: Toru and Kanaye's dorm
When: A day or two after the dungeon
Why: Cause Tom said some bad stuff

Tom waited until he knew Toru and Kanaye were't home, then slipped into their room. He hefted a rather large black bag over his shoulder as he moved. He still felt discussion of Paradise, and handing out the things he had should be done in private without people knowing about him being there.

He waited patiently in their room until the two returned. He thought it might be a good time to examine the things Kanaye had in his room. While Toru had gone into Paradise, Kanaye hadn't, and on the off chance that he was going in, it would be good to figure out what his issues actually were.

Tom looked at Toru and nodded.

"Thank you Ishinomori-san..."

He took a breath and stealed himself for what he was going to say.

"As for the arguments you and I have had, I...

...I still think you were wrong that night with Arai."

Tom held up a hand to stop any protests from Toru.

"I have been thinking about this a lot, and I have a whole bunch to say on the matter.
You... were one of the people who believed I was on the team despite my denials yes? You asked me to be there to watch out for you in case something bad happened.
But when Arai showed up, you immediately assumed everything he said was the truth, and everything I said was wrong. Even though there was no evidence to support his claims, and everything I said was as likely or more likely to be true.

And everything I said was out of concern for your safety. Dismissing it out of hand wasn't very fair to me. But in the end I think it was luck that the situation turned out the way it did. And just because I was mistaken about Arai, doesn't mean I was wrong."

Tom finally looked away and let out a breath. Now he began to really shift uncomfortably.

"...But... I can understand how you could let... "feelings" like that override your judgment. It is... a lot easier to believe things like that are true when we want them to be so badly."

Tom let out a sigh.

"And in all honesty I couldn't comprehend the notion that Arai's intentions were altruistic in the slightest. So I was guilty of the things you were mad at me for, just a bit.

And I..."

Tom's voice caught in his throat, he swallowed, and let out a sigh.

"... I'm happy that I was mistaken. I'm happy for you that I... was mistaken. I guess, in this regard, you're lucky in more ways then one."

Toru would have tried to stop Tom from continuing along his line of discussion, but felt as though that was somehow unfair. Instead, he calmly stood and listened to the upperclassman. It was the same sentiments as before: Kazuya could have been dangerous, it was wrong to trust him so quickly, you ought to have listened to me. And Toru was more than ready to refute that again. But then he said it. Acknowledged that personal feelings could get in the way of reasonable judgment. Apologized for his inability to accept that Kaz might've been a good person.

Toru cracked a smile. "That's why you came here?" he asked, tone amused and grateful at the same time. "It's... awfully kind of you. I know I was impulsive, and I know you had a point... b-but I'm glad you can see where you might've been wrong, too." There was an uncomfortable pause as he gathered the courage to say the next few words.

"Thank you so much, Sagaki-senpai."

Tom nodded, to both of them. Then rubbed his eyes. He was feeling a bit worn after his dungeon, but still had a great deal to do, or at least he felt like he did.

And he had done what he had come to do, now it was time to go back to the mission.

"Well... I should let you two have you're room back."

He side stepped the two of them and moved to the door. He waited for them to move out of the way so he could exit.
