Who: Detective Mokoto Shirow and 2nd year class
What: Investigation into the death of Sato Kei and the disapperence of Oubai Kou
Where: Classroom 3-F at the School
When: Afternoon
Why: Because she's been assigned the case.

Mokoto got out of the black car as her partner got out of the passengers side. Looking around the grounds she pulled on her shades so that it was easier to see. Hokkaido was so very different then Tokyo had been. Brighter sun, or it felt like it, and the weather was a bit cooler by nature. She'd seen enough of the big city to know that it wasn't going to be easy getting along with the change of weather here in the winter.

She glanced around and looked at her partner, "So this is the school. Well off students huh?"

He gave a nod as she headed for the enterence where a teacher was waiting to greet her. Mokoto pulled off her shades and smiled at him, "Pleased to meet you, Detective Shirow of the Iburi metropolitan police department. I'm here to interview the students in regard to the case that I'm working."

"The classroom is on the second floor. A person would have to climb the stairs. There is a lift installed for accessibility reasons and to allow for easier transport of classroom supplies but only students who have disabilities that would result in them struggling to climb stairs and staff members have keycards to activate it. There are two sets of stairs in case one set is impossible to use in an emergency. The fire exit doors do not open from the outside and openning them from the inside trips the fire alarm which in turn automatically calls the local fire brigade. Because the alarm was not set off that night we don't believe that the fire doors were used."

Aomori pointed to areas on the map. "Classroom doors are locked at night. The fire trapping doors are also locked at night, as are the main doors. Our Janitor lives on-site and supervises the night watchmen. You'll have opportunity to speak to her later."

"You'll be able to get access to all the information that we had on Sato-san's last schools from the reception. The have instructions to co-operate with the police so if you show them your badge they'll help you as much as they can. Please don't be offended if they wish to inspect the badge of check your ID number, though. We've had a number of newshounds trying to use fake badges to get information on Sato and his family recently. Naturally all of them have been reported."

"I see," she said softly and nodded. "So only faculty have access. Was there anyone that leaves late in the evening? And can you tell me about the classrooms. According to our reports Sato-san apparently died around two in the morning, hardly a time for a student to get into the classrooms. Are there any other enterences that someone on the outside could access? Or for that matter are there any rooms in this building that students or faculty have access too in the day that could be used for storage?"

Mokoto wondered if it was possible for the boy to be held at the school then dumped in the classroom. What was bothering her was how that could happen if there was a night watchman on duty. She looked about and listened to Aomori, "I'd like to have a list of faculty who have access to that classroom. Who locks the emergency doors at night?"

Smiling some she added, "Well that's not suprising. We're trying to make it as low publicity as possible, considering what happened in Iburi two years ago, it makes sense to keep things quiet. Speaking of checking, are visitors allowed in here?"

"Y-you'd need to speak to the night watchmen about it." Ishino said quietly. "But all classrooms are checked and no students were in the building at 8pm when the doors were locked. The night patrol at midnight entered the room but reported nothing suspicious. H-he wasn't registered in any lessons that day or the day before, either." She became quiet again, moving back into Aomori's shadow.

"There's a storeroom on the first floor of the classroom building for textbooks." Aomori said, taking over again. "Faculty members have keys for it and students can get keys if they have a note from a teacher. All faculty have keys thier thier own homerooms and any rooms used by clubs they are supervising. Spare keys for all classrooms are kept in the staffroom. Ishino-san is the homeroom teacher for 2-B, that's why se was the first in the classroom that day."

"Visitors are welcome in the reception area but not permitted to go further unescorted unless they've signed in. If you were to be away from us then you'd need to get a special badge from reception. It's for fire safety reasons, as well as to protect our students. Anyone signing in needs to give a reason for being in the school, we've been checking reasons more stricly since Sato-san's death."

"Hummmm, I suppose I will have to. Thank you for that information Ishino-san." She glanced at the quiet woman and smiled some. Ishino reminded her very much of her own mother, or more specifically the woman that acted like her mother, her Aunt. "So no reports of anything odd at midnight, but he was found that morning in the room, even though it was locked up.Sato-san was missing for the better part of two days, according to his parents he normally calls at least twice a week to let them know how he is. He missed his calls. Hummm, are the windows locked in your classroom Ishino-san?"

Mokoto scowled some listening to this, she looked plainly at Aomori, "So a student can, in essence, forge a note and get a key to a room? Are they checked in or out by someone or just handed out? Is there any other means for a student or faculty to obtain a key inside the building? Teachers...I've met in the past, have had the unfortunate habit of leaving keys unattended in drawers in their office, has anyone reported missing or stolen keys recently?"

"Is that area at all left unattended at any time? What of visitors that come in a side enterence?" she asked quickly but seemed pleased about the strict code.
