Homolust! MK. II
Who: Toru, Kazuya, and techncically anyone else who has access to the dorm.
What: ToruKaz!
When: Post-Misa Dungeon.
Where: Toru's Dorm.
Why: Kaz-bandages cause puzzled expressions?

The path to Toru's dorm was considerably longer than it physically should have been. At least, that's what his limbs were protesting the entire way he dragged his feet into the step after step pattern. More of his body hurt than it had initially upon coming to the school, and his mind was still dealing with all of the rushing questions and disturbing things that should not have existed. The voices, the music, the playground.. He still felt the nausea. In fact, he would not have minded spending a few moments to deposit the dry contents of his stomach into the nearest toilet of garbage bin. But he was around Toru, and it wasn't necessarily polite to do so in such company. Still, he could confide mentally in his own poor situation.

There were a lot of questions that might be arisen in privacy, and few of them he really wanted to currently answer. He would've liked if everyone could simply believe he'd toppled down a set of stairs, but there was a level of suspicion and intelligence in the group that defused such an explanation. Ah, he could at least continually persist it was merely an accident. That would get him as far as his arm wasn't twisted by any emotional or social threat. Emotions always came up in that way.

His expression betrayed a touch of self-irritation at that, his one eye narrowing as he attempted to focus on the path to the door. It wasn't too far away, was it? Toru had provided the directions, and they were in the dorm complex now.. Who had he said was in the dorm with him again? Eh. Kaz currently forgot. They probably weren't there anyway.. And suddenly, the subject of smoking became suddenly more appealing. But, Toru clearly would disapprove of him breathing carbon dioxides in his living space. But, at least they were.. finally there? Kaz noted the number on the side of the door he at last came to approach. It was the number that coincided with Toru's initial saying. A small victory! And with it, he allowed himself to collapse/lean against the side of the wall adjacent to the dorm entryway. His legs complained terribly of strain, weariness and overall stress. His back gave way to the relaxation and ease of simply relying on something else to keep Kaz on his feet.

It was convenient that Toru was merely reading a weekly manga magazine at the moment. Even more convenient was the fact that Kanaye wasn't in the room for the time being. In all likeliness, he was out at soccer practice or illegally consuming alcohol somewhere in the city, but either way he didn't particularly want to think about it. Thanks to these coincidences, the sound of something bumping into Toru's door pierced the silence rather effectively and prompted him to step outside to check. Once he'd opened the door, he quickly saw Kazuya, and made a tiny gasp.

"K-kazuya-kun! A-are you alright?" The bandages, looking no better than they did in Misaki's dungeon, indicated otherwise. After a moment of ineffectual dithering and flailing, the otaku stooped down to help the other boy stand. As he looped one arm around Kazuya, he said, more calmly "H-here, come in."

His head turned up as the door opened, and he saw Toru poke around the edge. Ah, he'd been wondering if he might be able to risk a few more moments of rest before having to knock on the door, but apparently not so. A bitter smile crawled over his features as Toru knelt to assist him. With a mild push on the wall, he managed to stand up with Toru's assistance. "I'm fine. I just wanted to say hello. I hope I'm not interrupting, or disturbing anything." He spoke mildly enough, glancing at the adolescent that was assisting him in standing.

There was a worried look to his face. One that he didn't see often. He spent a few moments blatantly staring at Toru, simply to study it. The way his brows had moved, and the movement of his mouth. It was terribly strange, almost as if one were looking at a new and utterly unknown creature.

Kazuya's answer caused further consternation to materialize in Toru's face. Why was he being so courteous when he could barely even stand? "Y-you're not interrupting anything... you know that..."

For a long moment, he met Kaz's gaze and looked back into the one eye not obscured by bandages. What had done this to him? Was it abuse, as Kiriko had claimed? An accident, as he insisted? Either way, his condition was not good. "C-come in, please... I-I can't leave you out there like this, Kazuya-kun..." With this, he helped the other boy in through his door, closing it behind himself with a foot.

Once they were safely in the dorm room, Toru walked him over to his own bed and attempted to sit him down on it. "T-there you go..."

Kanaye wasn't at practice, and he wasn't illegally consuming alcohol. He was getting back from illegally consuming alcohol and getting yelled at by some random person he didn't even know. Honestly, the nerve of some people. He could ruin his life on his own damn time, and he's not just going to listen to some random stranger about "why the drinking age is so high in the first place" and "the youth of today."

Kanaye was both irritated and drunk at that point, so he decided to simply walk to his dorm. He managed to not get killed/mugged/raped/taken into paradise, and had arrived at the dorms safely, ignoring anyone that actually cared about his alcohol consumption.

Now, Kanaye was normally a nice person to his friends. However, once he saw Kazuya and hid out of sight, watching Toru bring him into the dorm room, a deviant smile crossed his face. It wasn't going to hurt Toru, anyway. And he was perfectly fine with hurting Kazuya. Who knows? It might even do some good. He put his ear against the door and listened closely.

Toru's response was something he'd expected.. He would've probably told him that Kazuya wasn't interrupting anything even if he had been. He was always gentle, and even now he was trying to be as soft and helpful as possible. It was almost enough to make the bitter smile he wore grow into something with more warmth. Almost.

He felt himself being walked into the dorm, which had a curious scent to it.. It didn't smell like what he thought it would at first. The odor of simple teenage boys' lodgings. It smelled like home. Hah. An internal scoff was provoked at that thought. It wasn't like he would ever be staying here for any prolonged period of time. He had perhaps a few scant hours to spare, and then he would need to leave. But for now, this was a sanctuary for him to collapse in and rest. He wanted after it, terribly. A moment for things to slow down, for time to creep by in a less hurried pattern. For the dizzied spin of events to come to a less nausea-invoking pattern.

When he was placed onto the bed to sit, he quite literally fell into the seat, only managing to keep himself up by his right hand. The backwards lurching motion pulled his beloved hat off, the brown surface coming to a fall on the sheets of Toru's bed. And, slowly after wards, in the solace of being alone. Where he thought that only Toru could hear, he began to make light hiccuping sounds.

Kazuya's arms pulled about himself in an almost hugging way, his forehead finding a resting place in his gloved palm. While his right arm merely wrapped about himself. He appeared to be fighting back the odd noises that he was producing, gritting his teeth against the onslaught. And through the clenched jaw, he managed to create forth audible words.

"I hate this. I hate everything about this. I loathe every moment I have to spend in that horrible place. Every sound, every sight, every smell and feel.." His voice picked up as he spoke, growing louder and more frustated. "It's-not-real. But it's always there. Every bit of it. We have to go in to rescue somebody who's too weak to solve their own problems! Can't they just deal with their lives!? Why is this so complicated!?" At the end, he was quite nearly yelling. His one visible eye was wide and distressed, the entirety of his body slightly shivering.

He wished he could do something to physically represent the irritation and bent up hate of the situation, but he only settled in shaking and making more awkward hiccuping noises.

Though he did have decent reflexes, they were not enough to allow him to catch Kazuya after his unexpected fall. All Toru could do was lurch forward in a vain attempt to somehow protect the other boy.

"K-kazuya-kun!" Then, in a gentler following gesture, he put a hand on his shoulder. "D-do you need to lie down?" This concern was quickly superceded by another, as Kazuya launched into a terrible sort of hiccuping noise and pained speech. Suddenly, Toru found himself wishing that he knew anything about medicine, whether as a future doctor like Kouchisei or at least even a fan of shows such as Street (the American drama) or Solitaire, the anime classic. As it was, he could only listen.

It made him wince. He had sat down, to be closer, to be able to hear better, but by the end there was no point. "N-nobody likes that place, Kazuya-kun. I-it might not seem like it should exist, and it might be horrible... b-but we're the only ones who can save people who go there. We're the only ones with these powers... so it's our duty." Toru paused to sigh, and brought a hand up to his own face.

"I... I don't know if I would go back there if it weren't for what happened before... I-I'm not brave, o-or strong, and I barely know some of the people on the team... but, th-they... they rescued me. Back in the spring, I shut myself away from the world... I-I didn't want to face it anymore... a-and what came out of this place was my own Shadow. I never thought that they'd come for me... Misaki-chan was my only friend at that point, a-and my Shadow was pretty terrible. B-but in the end, they came and rescued me regardless. It's thanks to them that I can even speak to you right now."

He paused and looked at Kazuya concernedly. The hiccuping noises continued, both mystifying and frightening him. "And they'd go in to rescue you. E-even if they all hated you, they wouldn't leave you to die in a world like that, if you disappeared." He put a hand on the other boy's shoulder again. "Even if nobody else were willing, I'd save you from there."

Those last five words that left Toru's lips were all it took to cut the sounds off, silenced abruptly. Moistness had stained the glove he'd been holding to his face, in an effort to both (futiley) mask the fact he had been sobbing, and to hide his appearance away. He'd done it out of a pathetic fear that such a weakness would provoke disgust. He wasn't quite sure why he'd thought that.. But.. Now with Toru close, and the words spoken.

Kazuya detached his arms about himself to instead embrace the equally sized boy beside him. He did in a clinging, desperate manner. As if Toru were quite possibly the last lifeline he had between some kind of unholy fate. His body was still slightly shaking against the other's, the last quakes of some distress. But he didn't think that mattered, for the moment. His voice broke through, in a scratchy, half-broken way. Wrecked, but recovering from the ailments of sadness.

"I don't ever want to lose you. I.."

He had to catch himself, so close to breathing a few words that would have surely sent Toru away. He couldn't dare speak that. It was a stupid thing. He wasn't even sure of it himself. It might have fit.. But.. No. Toru would hate him if he said it. If Kazuya were to put that pressure on him. The pressure of a few words. So instead, he kept quiet, muted himself to breathing in between more and more infrequent trembles.

Dense as he was, Toru didn't notice Kazuya crying until he was embraced. The sound the boy made was distinctly different from, say, Misaki's sobs. But once they were close enough, the otaku saw the obvious wetness on the bandages around the other's eyes, and realized. With a gentleness born of his fear of accidentally opening Kaz's wounds, he hugged him back as tightly as was safe.

"Y-you won't lose me. I'm safe, now... b-but I want you to be safe, too. And now that you're a part of this group, you might be a future victim, too..." Fear made his voice tremble more than usual. "D-don't worry, please... I-I can... w-we can protect you."

Toru brought up one hand to caress Kazuya's bandaged face, barely touching it for fear of putting him in more pain. "But... you're suffering now, aren't you... a-and it's not even in Paradise or anything... I-I don't know if those guys can help with that..." Was it good to have tear-soaked bandages like that? It didn't seem healthy.

"I... I'll help you, though." Using the hand he already had upon Kaz's face, he indicated the messy swath of bandages. "D-do you want me to change those? It's... not a job for one person, a-and I know it's not healthy to leave them like that for so long..."

There really was nothing so fulfilling as human contact. Merely the reciprocated hug, and the glancing touch to his face had the power to settle him down with an almost frightening efficiency. The palm of Toru's hand was warm, and he was being completely gentle.. A last, ragged sigh escaped Kaz's lips. The finishing note of his normal impassive guard being dropped. It was wholely pleasant. Moments with Toru, just like this. Where words could seal the most troubling matters away. Just one individual's oath of protection. The one that mattered the most.

But, at Toru's indication of his continued pain, he only offered a light (and what was closest to a) smile. He briefly considered asking if Toru a question about what might be behind the bandages. But, well, he did need help.. And the wetness of the bandage cloth was becoming irritating against the skin beneath. And so, he detached his lanky arms from about the other. The gloved hands rose to Kazuya's neck, digits searching for where the bandages had begun. Ah, there it was. The staples came apart easily enough, all he needed to do was pull sharply. The cloth unraveling as quickly as he pulled. And what the bandages had one concealed, was now open to view.

The other side of Kazuya's face was not a pretty sight. Simply put, it was a borderline disturbing array of markings that did not look anywhere near comfortable. It was hard to find a starting point and an endpoint to the trouble, especially as it did not only encompass the once-veiled side of his face. It descended completely to his neck, and possibly beneath the collar of his coat. The first, and perhaps least serious appeared to be the bruising. His now visible eye itself was a bruised, blackened thing. It appeared that swelling had once existed, but had seriously diminished since the initial bruising. As well, welts from whatever blunt object had come in contact with his face scattered about his jaw and towards his neck. Some of which were not entirely random, as they followed almost straight lines. The secondary factor that marred his face was small, swelled up black dots on his face. They were not pimples or moles, but burns. It appeared as if something very hot had been doused directly on his flesh, repetitively so. Roughly seven such marks were placed across his skin: three on his neck, four on the side of his face. And finally, it seemed as if some sharp object had also come in contact with his facial area. As three visible scar marks were apparent from just beneath his eye to his jawline. Something capable of slashing had been dragged down the skin, deep enough to cause such a sign to be left. They appeared recent, as well, for the latter two marks had not completely healed. Some dried blood still scattered about the area that had been mutilated, and the skin had not yet even begun to heal over. In short, painful things had happened. In long, stairs would have a difficult time of producing the majority of these issues. Much less a single tumble down them.

"I would like your help, Toru-kun."

It was impossible for Toru to suppress his gasp at the condition of Kazuya's face. He'd seen injuries before, certainly... but nothing this severe, ever. Even the more violent animes and mangas he followed tended to tastefully keep things like this offscreen, allowing for the imagination rather than the senses to interpret the extent of injuries. And though the bruises would eventually fade away, the other wounds had the potential to leave nasty scars if left this way. Especially the lacerations, which distinctly reminded Toru of a secondary character in Detergent. And the smaller marks... were those cigarette burns? No stairs inflicted such wounds upon any person. Even more worrisome was that the bruising extended below Kazuya's collar. A bit of sick curiosity squirmed within Toru, making him wish he could remove the other boy's clothes to see the full degree of his injuries(and nothing else, of course). But now, his duty was to tend to his face.

"I'll help you. Definitely." At this, he jumped off of the bed and made a beeline for Kanaye's side of the room, where he began to rummage through assorted belongings. It was nearly half a minute before he finally emerged from underneath the bed bearing a squarish box about a foot across, red cross emblazoned on the side. "H-here... this is Kanaye-kun's first aid kit..."

He placed it down on the bed next to Kazuya, opening it and immediately starting to rummage around for bandages. "I'm not an expert with this like Oubai-senpai is, but I think I'll be able to manage." He had soon laid out bandages and some assorted ointments, and ended up diving into another pile of random objects to pull out an unopened bottle of water.

"Er... I need to clean everything up first, I think..." With a bit of gauze dampened with water from the bottle, he began to dab away at the dried blood still on Kaz's face before applying some of the antiseptic to the still-open wounds. That was how it was done, right? "Does that feel any better?"

Kazuya observed quietly, and with a sort of pseudo-amusement as Toru set off on the mini-adventure of finding the first aid kit. He'd been surprised, shocked, even.. But he hadn't questioned him at all about the injuries' origins. Kaz had expected some curiosity, some sort of demanding as to what had harmed him so. But only the quiet understanding. It was.. well, the only word that came to mind was sweet. Maybe that was one of the reasons while he felt comfortable around Toru. It was the kind of mannerisms he held. They were gentle in every way.

However, it was a regret that Toru had to see him like this. Surely, there was distress evident and questions (even if they were not voiced). It was unfair for such stress to be placed upon him. He'd already listened to the breakdown.. He should deserve peace. But, he didn't seem to mind at all. He was already fishing out an assortment of medical tools and accessories. Just the way he operated in silence, his hands laying out the necessary items. It was.. well, cute wasn't the word, nor was adorable. It was something near lovely. Especially the way he voiced his unsteady thoughts on how the treatment should be administered. Kaz wouldn't have minded in the least if it had simply been some damp cloth, or even a dry tissue trying to clean his wounds. All the same, the watered down mixture was.. well, admittedly soothing. The hot, uncomfortable pain of his face now at last received some sort of countering coolness and respite.

"Yes." It was a quiet confirmation, but it seemed somehow appropriate to speak in softer tones. "Thank you. You've been very kind to me." The natural, formal tone began to override his method speak. "I'm sorry for burdening you with my condition. You don't have to do too much, really. I'll be alright if I can just get the bandages retied." He attempted to sound reassuring, at the very least imply that Toru did not have to fully continue care. But it was.. touching. To have someone take care of him in such a gentle manner. Was this what visiting a hospital was like? Although, admittedly, no Hospital would ever have such a wonderful staff member as Toru. Even if he wasn't the most experienced.. Affection filled that gap, didn't it?

Pleased to see that his ministrations were having a positive effect on the other boy, Toru nodded in confirmation as he picked up a roll of bandages. "D-don't worry about that. I'll just put these on you, and you'll be set, I-I think..."

It took a few false starts on Toru's part in order to get going with the bandages, but he soon found himself wrapping them around Kazuya's head in a way that securely covered all of the obvious cuts and burns, as well as most of the bruises, though not his black eye. "Er... you'll want to be able to tell when this heals up, right? S-so, I'm gonna leave it uncovered so you'll be able to see out of it as soon as you can. Is that alright, Kazuya-kun?" Along the same lines, he remembered to leave a broader gap around his "patient's" mouth. "It'll be easier if I leave it like this, right?"

It wasn't long before Toru finished wrapping Kazuya's wounds. Once he'd finished, he sat back to admire his handiwork... which was at least better than Kaz's own self-treatment. More of his face (and most of his hair, which was probably the fault of Toru's own sensibilities) was now visible, and the wrappings were no longer haphazardly held together with staples and the like. Granted, there was no way to show the "patient" what the bandages looked like, given that Toru didn't own a single mirror. But that was a minor tragedy, and not worth rooting through even more of Kanaye's belongings to address.

"Th-there you go... it's not the best, but it should serve its purpose well enough..."

A light smile hung on Kaz's lips as Toru went about his treatment. It was surely and decidedly a pleasant thing to be cared for, especially so with the person doing so being Toru. While he was not necessarily the most skilled, the job was far better than the earlier bandage setting. Now, he could at least relax with the light pressure on his face. As well, he wasn't half-blinded with this work, although the black eye would attract attention. Well, it fit in with the falling down the stairs, didn't it?

With the work completed, Kaz lifted his left hand to touch at his face area. Toru had done an excellent job in concealing the injuries. From what he could feel, none immediately popped up. Relief washed through him at that. If anyone else saw what had been done.. Well, he didn't want to think of the possibilities. With the digits of his left hand, he tugged off the glove of his right hand. What lie beneath was the pale, unblemished skin of a hand that apparently very rarely saw outside contact. The index finger of his right hand was twisted at a noticeably awkward angle, and from the way he was holding it, clearly somewhat sensitive. However, he once more broke the personal bubble without permission. Reaching out with the bared right hand, he curved the softish fingers about the bangs of hair that surrounded Toru's face, and settled on the cusp of his cheek. His hand was warm to the touch, perhaps an after affect of the glove he'd wore, with a smooth, gentle grasp.

"It's the best, because it was done by you. Thank you, Toru-kun." Kaz's tone was delicate, and his smile grew a bit with the words, a warmth to it now visible, "I never got the chance to tell you that I thought you looked beautiful, today. But then again, you always seem to look more stunning every day. I'm envious."

When Kazuya removed his glove, Toru suddenly realized that this was actually his first time ever seeing the other boy's hands. How strange. It was a stark contrast to Kaz's face, without blemish, cut or bruise. Except for the index finger, anyway. Was it broken? Toru couldn't tell for certain, but it certainly looked that way.

"I-is your finger alright? It doesn't look like you could write with it like that..." He didn't mean to pry, but the condition of Kaz's finger looked painful. Nonetheless, he allowed for him to touch his face. What a difference it made, for Kazuya to have his glove off! The contact was soft and gentle against Toru's skin, and he welcomed it, smiling.

"Er... thank you! I-I tried, at least..." This brought a sheepish smile across his face. "It's not like I'm very good at things like this, like Oubai-senpai is... b-but, I didn't want to see you in pain and risking infection... th-that wouldn't be good..." He didn't have a chance to say any more, as Kazuya complimented him. Such sentiments were alien to him, and as a result left him blushing bright red.

"Do you... mean that?" With a hand, he reached up to touch his own face. "I-I'm not... y-you don't need to call me..." Each progressive word was more and more choked up with Toru's shy embarrassment, left over from his days of self-loathing. It hadn't all gone away after he'd confronted his Shadow. Things were never that easy. "Th-thank you... i-if you say so... m-maybe I am..."

Ah, his finger, Toru had noticed that.. Well, he could probably make up a little lie later for it. It didn't hurt anymore, thankfully. And he doubted that such pain would've mattered anyway. Toru had allowed him to cross the invisible barrier of personal space for the brief moment, and that was reason enough to ignore anything else. Even now, when he was stuttering and stumbling over his words.. He was truly lovely. There was no maybe to be involved at all. It was the clearest thing of the day, wasn't it? People were foolish or stupid, or simply blind not to realize that about him. From his fair complexion, to the way his hair set atop his head, to the smiles he wore on different occasions. Every part.

So when Toru raised that hand to his face, Kazuya's free, gloved hand closed atop it moments afterwards. "Hey, there's no possibility involved. There's no chance. You simply are. Every moment of your life, you're the most striking piece of artwork, the most exotic treasure in the entire vast world, the incarnation of everything that deserves offerings. Don't you see that?" Kazuya couldn't help but move a little bit closer with the words, murmuring each syllable in a quiet way. The lower of his voice came natural, almost as if they were conversing about the most confidential of things. Things only the two of them could ever share.

"I mean every word, and even if I didn't need to, I would. But, I want you to know. I need you to know. Because it'd be a crime for you to think you're anything less." For all intents and purposes, his emotions demanded he close the gap.. But he couldn't. Just for now, he wanted to watch Toru, and speak sweet truths to him. For it was for only Toru, that he opened such doors of emotion.

There was hardly ever a time when Toru had been left like this, wide-eyed and shocked. What Kazuya had said was indeed the exact reversal of everything he had heard, internalized, and believed for so many years now. Artwork? Exotic treasure? Beautiful? He could hardly come to grasp these statements; they were alien to him, like a lost tribe's forgotten language. Such compliments were far richer fare than his poor, starved self-esteem was used to.

"...you... y-you really think that..." His hand was clenched tightly within that of Kazuya's, and curled tighter still as he spoke. "I-I'm..." Toru's face was now brighter red than before, and his eyes downcast, incapable of meeting Kaz's.

"Beautiful." This last word was tiny, hushed, upon a single breath. Nobody but Kazuya could have heard it. Before the other boy could do or say anything, Toru had responded in the one way that felt appropriate. There was no other possibility for showing his emotions at the time.

No hesitation or inner refusal held back this kiss. It was a whole-hearted expression of gratitude, which Toru was determined to make last. His hand, which may have had been a barrier between them before, was swept out of the way along with the hand clasped around it. Perhaps at some other time he would've felt embarrassed as to how much he leant into it, and how much initiative he was showing, but now, it was just the right thing. Nothing else mattered.

Kanaye, unsurprisingly, had decided to open a door a crack to see what was going on. He had done so about the time that Toru had begun to undress Kazuya, and he was about to close the door to give them some privacy when he noticed that he was, in fact, just dressing his bandages. Kanaye smiled. It was, honestly, quite adorable. He could imagine him doing the same to Maeko, or Maeko doing the same to him. He couldn't fault them.

And then they kissed. Kanaye turned away softly and closed the door this time. He wasn't about to intrude on something this important if one of the people involved was one of the two people in the world he actually cared about.

Kazuya had watched Toru carefully under the lidded eyes, noting the response in his face and the new and stronger pressure on the hand that had earlier been clasped over Toru's. He could only guess at what kind of thoughts were running amongst the other boy's head. The repression seemed to run deep, at least in terms of a battered self-esteem. The fact that others would have tormented Toru in such a way infuriated him (to such an extent that would have disturbed him had he stepped back to analyze it).

But for now, all that mattered were the barely whispered words that escaped the other adolescent's mouth. His face was almost a pure crimson. Did his words really have such an effect? Kazuya had never known or seen anyone react so strongly to any phrase he'd uttered. It was almost as if Toru's actions were a mini wonder of the world. The way he moved and held himself in those few seconds.. Kazuya could only stare. And then the final word was breathed, and Kazuya's own mouth opened slightly. But he didn't have a moment to speak, for Toru had already moved faster than he could have stopped him. Not that he wanted to, or that his feelings would have allowed him at all.

There was something unendingly pleasant about a kiss. It was a sweet, sweet honeyed thing. A ever-replenishing spring of the stuff, in mere physical form. It made sense, why people did it so often, and so passionately. And he couldn't help but fall into the same boat. It was a feeling that could simply take over, overpower every other wish but the want to kiss more. And as Toru leant in, so did he. The ungloved right hand that had been placed upon the other adolescent's face now snaked about his neck, holding him in the physically closed distance.

It was akin to floating. This time, there was no pressure upon Toru to hurry up. He took the time to linger, feel, explore, almost. As Kazuya's arm made its way around his neck, his arms looped around Kazuya's torso, holding him closer. The warmth made him want to go closer still, closer than he'd ever been to another person before. Yet at the same time, he feared for what wounds lay beneath, and so refrained from holding the other boy tightly. Further intimacy would wait. Toru was happy like this.

Soon enough, he stopped to breathe (what a pointless human function, he thought, still in the thrall of his old ways) but still held onto Kaz, inwardly glowing. Outwardly, too, as the blush was still intensely evident on Toru's face. "I feel... alive. W-well, you know, I always feel like I'm... y'know, physically alive and all... b-but... this is like you validated me. A-as a person."

His smile at that moment was sincere, if somewhat embarrassed. "T-that sounds pretty stupid, huh..."
