WHO: Shiori + Kazuya + anyone else? :D
WHAT: Talking
WHEN: Approximately 3.34 hours after getting back from her trip
WHERE: A park
WHY: Because I don't want to have to rack my memory for things that happened in August, yo. Because Shiori wanders and Kazuya reads.

Much as she had ended up hating Tokyo (turns out she had actually missed nature. Go figure.), Shiori found herself rather anxious now that she was back. Nevermind all the schoolwork she had to make up, but now she'd have to reconnect with the people she had left behind. And explain why she had left without saying anything, the reason of which even she didn't remember. Just that she was feeling really stressed and needed to leave, but what she had been stressed about she couldn't remember. It must not have been that big of a deal after all.

Maybe this whole thing hadn't even been worth it.

But she wasn't going to dwell on it, because the facts were she had left, she hadn't liked Tokyo, and was now back. Of course that didn't mean she was about to hunt down all of her classmates and friends right away - no, after putting her stuff away in her room and cleaning the room a bit Shiori had decided to reacquaint herself with the town by doing what she did best: wandering and sketching.

Where she ended up was one of the parks by her house. Because of it's lack of visitors (it was one of the older parks and lacked the items the newer parks had, such as playgrounds), it hadn't been on Shiori's "Most Frequented" list but was pretty in it's own right. And this place certainly had enough nature.

Deciding she'd sit on an actual bench instead of relearning the technique of sitting on the ground in a skirt, she made her way over to where she remembered a bench being only to see it already occupied by a boy she vaguely remembered. After a moment's hesitation, she continued over to him.

"Mind if I sit?" she asked, cradling her sketchbook to her chest.

Kazuya had been sitting on one of the park's benches, a book in hand. He honestly hadn't checked the book's title in hours, and was far too enraptured within the story to bother with that for the moment. It was something of a better book than the usual, with a structured plot line and characters that he could relate to! Ah, but that was what one wanted to do most. To be able to reflect on one's own situation with theirs, to cross-sympathize. Stories of manipulation, treachery, love, fate, and almost inevitably, violence. It was always a saddening matter to finish a book, or to see a character pass on.. Although it was a work of fiction, he had imagined them, imagined their voices.. They had been real in their own way, hadn't they? As it was, he still had a good chunk of story to go through, and intended to enjoy it while he could!

Although, his few moments of mental reverence for successful pieces of novelity was rather sharply broken by four words spoken fairly quietly, no less. He looked up slowly enough, inspecting the female that was before him. She looked a bit short, but then again, he wasn't really one to judge. It occurred to him that he shouldn't be judging someone on the first basis by height.. But that mental debate was flickered away as he nodded quietly.

"Not at all. Please, sit if you'd like to."

Smiling brightly at him, she sat, a hand moving to smooth her skirt as she did so. Glancing over to see if the other boy had resumed reading, Shiori opened her sketchbook to a new page and looked around for something she could deem interesting enough to draw. But, alas, everything seemed rather droll and... well, green. Nothing stood out.

So she sighed and twirled her pen between her fingers as she tried to think of something. It didn't have to be something from here, right? She could draw something from her imagination. Maybe she'd draw zombies attacking Tokyo, or a person literally erasing their scars, or...

Pen touching paper, Shiori began to draw herself and the other boy, sitting on the bench. Her imagination was utterly failing her right now.

"I think I've seen you before," she said as she lightly penned a line. "In the library or something. What year are you in?"

Hopefully he wouldn't take great offense if he happened to be in her class, or if they did something together before. Shiori was terrible with taking in her surroundings when she was drawing, which she usually did in school. As a result, she knew very little about her classmates.

Once more, he had been dragged out of the world of fiction and imagination into the living. This time, his face betrayed a touch of curiosity at her inquiry. A lot of people tended to see him in the library, but none of them ever mentioned it, nor asked him about his place in the school. Then it struck him, like a cement block. Was.. she flirting with him?

Kaz blinked a few times, offered her a look of disbelief mangled with surprise and.. attempted to resume his reading position as quickly as possible. This wasn't supposed to happen, people were never interested in him. What should he say? How should he react? It would be rude to outright say, 'Uhm, sorry!' so.. he might as well entertain her conversation a bit further.

Unfortunately, his voice had the tint of nervousness to it. "I-I'm f- no, second year. Uhm, yeah. Library, could've seen me. I'm there a lot. I mean, reading. Books and all.. Because, libraries have books." It struck him that he might be saying too much, so he abruptly silenced himself and went back to the now difficult task of resuming his place in the beloved and outside world-blocking practice of imagination.

Not minding the awkward silence as the boy struggled with thinking of something to say, Shiori continued on with her picture. Bolding the line she had been drawing lightly until then, she smiled faintly. It really was nice being back: she never would have been able to draw and have a conversation with someone in Tokyo. They were so demanding there - either they wanted her full attention and wouldn't let her draw at all, or they'd ask her so many questions or expect full participation in the conversation that she wouldn't have been able to focus. So moments of silence like this were actually pretty welcome.

Pausing in her drawing when the boy finally did speak up, voice betraying his unease, Shiori was yet again reminded of the differences. People in Tokyo spoke so confidently that unless they were confessing their love to another person, their voices never wavered. He was probably just shy or something. Living in the country, he could afford to be that.

"Whoa, really?" she asked, looking up at him. "You're a second year? Are you in my class?" Realizing how rude that sounded, she quickly added, "I've been gone for awhile, and I never really paid attention to the people at school anyway, so..."

Jeez, awkward. She blushed and looked back down at her picture, hand poised to continue but not yet doing so.

"So you, um, like to read then? Or do you just study a lot?" she asked.
