Entry tags:gendou, kozue, masami, renju

WHO: Renju, open.
WHAT: Talking and pastry.
WHEN: 7:30 PM sharp on the evening after the bonus boss.
WHERE: A bakery near Noodle Alley.
WHY: Things need discussing, and Renju needs comfort food.

Renju didn't want to admit it, but the walk to the bakery had winded her. Paradise, training with Tom, and her general activity level had all helped her endurance lately, but long walks had always tired her out, and today had been exhausting in more ways than one. (Did Paradise always tire her out this much? It had on her other trips, but she'd chalked that up to not being used to it.)

But now she was here, and the anpan was just as delicious as Maeko had claimed. She had a short stack of the little buns piled neatly next to her plate on the table, and was working her way through a ham-and-cheese crepe dosed heavily with pepper just to say she'd eaten some sort of actual meal today. She didn't have much of an appetite right now, but skipping meals would cause more problems than it solved.

Like a lot of other things today. But from what she'd gathered, she'd have at least one person to talk to about that shortly.

Renju's response to Masami's proposal was cut short by a fourth person approaching the group--one who, as far as she knew, wasn't privy to anything regarding Paradise. There was something about Gendou that had always set Renju's teeth a little on edge, and sudden intrusions on private conversations (fortunately, he hadn't intruded on her personal space besides) rarely made her inclined to deal politely with the intruder.

She stiffened a bit, fiddling unconsciously with the bun she'd been pecking at. "Talking," she answered stiffly, "but I don't see why it's any of your concern, Retsu-senpai." She was absolutely out of patience tonight, and Gendou was about the only person she could safely take that out on, even in such a relatively small way.

"I agree with tha—" Kozue stopped, response cut short as she heard someone speaking really close above her. She tensed slightly, startled to find someone leaning over her. And when she looked up. The Student Council President, of all people? She shot him a puzzled look from her partially-upside-down vantage below him. (She was, after all, a pretty easy person to lean over.)

"We're eating cake, Retsu-sempai," she echoed, even though there was certainly no cake in front of her. "And talking." As much as she would have liked to make her response as obvious as Renju's, it just wasn't in the cards. He'd been (mostly) polite; she had to reply in the (mostly) polite way. Although. What in the world had he meant by alone? Surely he wasn't implying that she couldn't get a date? No way. He wouldn't.

Talking? It was an odd group to him to be sitting there talking. Kozue was a freshman who, as far as he knew, limited her involment in various fashion or slective boys (as he'd heard rumor right now that boy was the head of the Cooking club), both of which Masami and Renju were not. He'd never really talked very much to Renju, she stood out for her silence and the fact that she reminded him very much of Oubai-san. Masami for her part was a strong kendo captain, and from what he knew she was very traditional.

To him it was a humorus trio, something he could just see in a yuri manga where the strong girl (Masami) had a crush on the softer silent one (Renju) and it took the friend of the Strong one to get them together. He'd assigned that role to Kozue, after all she wasn't into girls right? Though he wouldn't put it past her.

Leaning some on the top of the opposing booth he smiled at them, "Talking about what? You seem rather involved and nervous ladies. What's going on?"

Masami really wasn't in the mood to deal with Gendou. It was the worst possible time for him to show up, and she had had enough to deal with already that day. Couldn't he just... leave them alone?

"...It's just some girl talk, Retsu-senpai. Nothing you really would want or need to know..." Masami said, trying to look as natural as she could despite holding back the urge to maybe say something a little more... scathing.

"Oohhhhh, just some girl talk? About what, if I may ask?" he leaned his cheek on his hand and rested his elbow on the back of the booth leaning over Kozue and smiled at Masami in, what would have to be to her, the most irritatingly sweet smug smirking smile he could muster.

"It seems rather...odd...that you would be here with Renju-sama and Kozue-chan. I not saying that it's bad, but rather that it's weird. I wouldn't find it too strange if it was just you and Kozue-chan," Gendou calmly pointed out tapping his long fingers on the wood backing, "Since you both are with sports teams and that could easily be chalked off to working out schedules or something for Ito-sensei now...Kami bless Amorie-sensei."

He glanced at Renju as he continued, "Nor would I find it odd if it was just Kozue-chan and Renju-sama since well, I can just see Renju-san here helping Kozue-chan out with homework. And of course if it was just you and Renju-san, I would assume something as docile as some sort of book club or something. But..." he paused to add emphisis on the point at hand. "With the three of you here...well that's a new matter. Since, Masami-himi are not typically the sort to be seen with Renju-sama and Kozue-chan in the same place at the same time."

"It gets me to wonder," he smirked some, "If there's more here then meets the eye. May-haps a bit of a match making in progress curtisy of Kozue-chan?"

Masami let out an almost unnoticeable sigh as Gendou went through his reasoning. Didn't he get when he wasn't wanted around?

Finally, he asked about matchmaking, and at this, Masami looked baffled. "...Matchmaking? I don't think I get what you mean, Retsu-senpai..."

He looked at her suprised then slowly a smile crept on his face. She wanted to remain antonomus, well that would be easy enough to do, but still, the coy act wasn't fooling him. He recognized what was going on here and grinned.

"Come now Sakuraba-san, you need not hide such things. It's not like I would tell anyone," he grinned and rested his head between his hands as he leaned on the back of the booth. "It's adorable the way you three are doing this. I knew you were a shy girl, but I didn't expect you to have such wonderful taste like Renju-chan. Should I congradulate you now, or later I wonder."

He chuckled, "Kozue-chan, you sly devil, this is certainly a match made in heaven. The perfect shojo pairing...well if the pairing were two girls. Sakuraba-sama as the strong silent sports girl who's known that she's always had a soft spot for the book worm that she met in the library. And Renju-chan as the soft spoken girl who didn't know she had such a firey passion in her till she met Sakuraba-sama. Oh my my my, this is well worth the watching. So do tell, which of you confessed to Kozue-chan first hummm?"

What was this even. What.

Kozue just stared up at the Student Council President, trying to keep the growing horror, confusion, irritation, and (bizarrely enough) giggling from bursting out of her. He thought what? And, wait a minute, how come Masami got to be Masami-hime, Renju Renju-sama, and she was Kozue-chan? Where did he get off with that kind of familiarity? He wasn't even that much older than her!

It was kind of funny in its embarrassing way, though she probably would have been infinitely less amused had she been the one that the Student Council President had somehow, inscrutably, decided was a lesbian. How had he jumped to that conclusion, anyway?

"We're just talking about the Tea Club, actually, Retsu-sempai," Kozue finally managed to chime in. "Sonozaki-sempai and I were interested in joining it and Sakuraba-sempai was kind enough to sit down and talk with us about it."

"Tea Club? This is the first I've heard of this?" He looked at Masami, "You do know that all clubs have to run through the Student council before they are offically okayed right?"

Gendou paused and smirked just then, "Ohhhhh, of coure Tea club, how silly of me. I'm sure though that you'll make lovely teas together. I see I see, say no more. So, how long has this um...Tea club been going on?"

He gave Kozue a wink as if to say, Ahh...I see where you're going with this...

Renju had absolutely no idea where to even begin with this. There were so many levels on which it was outright wrong... A point-by-point refutation of this bizarre idea he'd cooked up seemed almost pointless, and more time-consuming than it was worth. When she spoke, it was as calm as she usually was, but there was an undercurrent of anger that was not at all typical of her.

"I don't understand where this elaborate fantasy of yours came from, Retsu-senpai, but this is nothing of the sort. This is about club business, nothing more, and I'd appreciate it if you'd leave us to discuss it."

She fell silent for a brief moment before speaking up again, unable to resist one more note. "And I feel I should add that the Tea Ceremony Club has been officially chartered at least since I've been at the school, senpai."

"Well I'll have to look into it, I might be mistake in this factor, heaven knows that Akuba-himi's been playing around with the records. It's rather tiresome trying to figure out what goes on in that girl's mind. One minute she's all business the next instant she wants to drop whatever we're doing and check up on Aoi-chan. It's really rather distracting." He shook his head some. "Mind you she dose keep things in order so I really ought not to complain."

He smiled at Renju in a almost shark like way, "Come now Renju-sama, you really shouldn't be trying to cover up such romantic things. I can understand your shy factor, but please, I have my own relationship so...I can understand the fear and nervousness. But I must say that Sakuraba-sama is quite the catch. IF I was a female I would happily submit to her."

Okay, this was getting more and more uncomfortable. And that last comment just put the icing on the cake, pun mostly intended. Now, he was making assumptions about the girl on girl bedroom life of two of his schoolmates who he'd just chanced to see together at a bakery? Dude had issues. Maybe his relationship wasn't working

Kozue bit her lip. Just. How could they get rid of him without actually having to chase him away? "Would you mind letting us get back to our discussion, now, Restu-sempai?"

Masami's already very limited patience with Gendou - no, maybe it was her patience in general - was now just about to run out. Taking a moment to collect herself, Masami looked Gendou straight in the eye, and though her expression remained cool and collected, it was clear from the look in her eyes that she had had just about enough of the student council president's foolishness.

"...Senpai, if you've said all you're going to say, then please, kindly leave us. Now."

Her tone was steady and calm the whole way through... until that last word, which showed more than a small hint of annoyance. Hopefully he'd finally get the idea with that.

"Oh very well, I just found it a bit of entertainment," he sighed in a elegant way. He knew his time was up with the girls. Still it was well worth it, something a bit more interesting then hearing about the life insurance polices of the people in the hospital.

Getting up and nodded to them in turn, "Kozue-himi, Matsumi-himi, Renju-himi, I thank you for this evening's amusment. I do hope I didn't put a damper on your spirits. I'll be seeing you in school then?"

Kozue nodded a bit curtly to the Student Council President, and, after he'd finally departed, turned back to the two 'love birds'. Oh, those poor girls, if anyone else from school had been witness to Gendou's ridiculous show and chain of horrible theories.

"I'm sorry… You were talking about taking some people back there, Sakuraba-sempai?" Kozue gave an appropriate weight to back there, when she spoke: Back There was really more like it.

Masami watched Gendou finally leave in silence, doing her best not to cast an annoyed glare at his back. She took a moment to calm herself down while Kozue spoke.

"Yeah, I was hoping you two wouldn't be against it..." Masami couldn't really think of anything else to say.

"It's something that needs to be done."

It took some time after Gendou left for Renju to cool down, and she'd finished off one of the pastries in between when he'd left and when Masami finished speaking. "I don't intend to leave anyone in there to die."

Kozue nodded—and looked down at Renju's pastries, man, those looked tasty—no, wait, focus. Paradise. Shadows. Team. Not getting fat.

"I don't intend to do that either. I mean, we have a responsibility now, I guess you could say. And I want to be able to go back without worrying that my teammates will start arguing, or fighting each other instead of the real enemies."

Masami was glad that both Renju and Kozue were agreeable. It was something less common than it should be among the old team.

"Thanks. So... who else do you think we should talk to about this? I was thinking of talking to Nawanaka-san..."

A slight frown crossed Renju's face briefly when Toshimi was mentioned, but she said nothing about that. "We should also talk to Tanaka-senpai and Oubai-san. Ishinomori-kun might be too involved with the others to be interested in us..."

It seemed like the original group from the museum was going to be reassembling, plus a few additions. How had they all gotten together that time, anyway? For the life of her, she couldn't quite remember, even though it had only been a month ago...

Kozue just nodded. "I don't know what Ishinomori-kun plans to do, but I can always pass him a note in class or something. As for Tanaka-sempai, Oubai-sempai, and Nawanaka-sempai… they all seem like they have their priorities in order, too."

"I think that's..." She stopped, and mentally ticked over the rest of the team. "I could ask Kiriko-san, if you all weren't against that," she offered. "And if she'd come separately from Shirai-san."

Masami nodded, "I agree, we should definitely talk to Oubai-san and Tanaka-senpai. I have nothing wrong with Ikeda-san, but... I wonder if she could be separated from Shirai-san..."

Masami then also realized that it'd be the group that had awakened at the museum, minus one member - for some reason, Masami could have sworn there had been a fourth person who had awakened during the trip to the museum, but for the life of her she simply couldn't place who it was - and plus a couple others. Interesting coincidence, that.
