WHO: Renju, open.
WHAT: Talking and pastry.
WHEN: 7:30 PM sharp on the evening after the bonus boss.
WHERE: A bakery near Noodle Alley.
WHY: Things need discussing, and Renju needs comfort food.

Renju didn't want to admit it, but the walk to the bakery had winded her. Paradise, training with Tom, and her general activity level had all helped her endurance lately, but long walks had always tired her out, and today had been exhausting in more ways than one. (Did Paradise always tire her out this much? It had on her other trips, but she'd chalked that up to not being used to it.)

But now she was here, and the anpan was just as delicious as Maeko had claimed. She had a short stack of the little buns piled neatly next to her plate on the table, and was working her way through a ham-and-cheese crepe dosed heavily with pepper just to say she'd eaten some sort of actual meal today. She didn't have much of an appetite right now, but skipping meals would cause more problems than it solved.

Like a lot of other things today. But from what she'd gathered, she'd have at least one person to talk to about that shortly.

If Masami were shaken in any way by the events that happened in Paradise, she wasn't showing it when she walked into the bakery. Granted, she was normally very good at keeping feelings like that suppressed, usually limiting the signs of them to the occasional sigh.

Which was all she had done during the whole fiasco back there. Sighed in silent frustration at the childishness of the others, then left when she was too disgusted with them to keep watching.

And that was why she was even in the bakery. She needed to talk to who she considered to be one of the few other sane people in the group.

She gave a nod to Renju as she walked in and went to the counter to get herself some anpan and a croissant. Bread in hand, she returned to sit.

"Sonozaki-san, it's good to see you," Masami said, before falling silent. It might have been obvious that she was having difficulty choosing her next words, if she hadn't hid it by taking a bit of anpan.

"Sakuraba-san." Renju politely inclined her head towards her classmate and pushed the remnants of her crepe aside. There was about half left, which she considered good enough for now. (It was expensive enough that she'd take the rest with her tomorrow, but that was besides the point.)

She hadn't really dealt with Masami much prior to now, but she was at least saner and more sensible than most of the rest of the former team. (By the looks of things, anyway; Keiichi, for one, had been an unpleasant surprise, and she wasn't about to put something like that past anyone else anymore.) Then again, they were both comparatively new to Paradise, so going in alone might be ill-advised...

Then again, she'd been ready to go in on her own before. She still was, if it came down to it.

But where to even begin talking about it? Her thumb was starting to poke a hole in her anpan, but she still wasn't sure what to say.

Kozue walked into the bakery a few moments after Masami, and stopped at the door, peering around and looking for Renju. She found Masami first—if only because of her height—and, after hesitating only a moment or two, headed over for the table that the other two girls were sitting at. She didn't bother getting her own pastry just yet; they were fattening, and, besides, she could always get up and get another one later.

She raised her hand slightly in a wave: "Sonozaki-sempai. Sakuraba-sempai. Hey."

And. Wow. That was an awful lot of food in front of Renju.

Renju seemed to be having a similar problem to Masami; it was hard to find a place to start. Fortunately(or maybe unfortunately?) Kozue appeared, putting the issue off for the moment.

Masami nodded toward Kozue. "Hi, Kondo-san."

And back to the awkward silence it was. With Kozue there, Masami wasn't sure if she even wanted to proceed on the track she had been considering before. She wasn't sure what Kozue thought of the situation. After a moment she settled on asking about what had happened after herself and Renju had left, to see if she could get an idea.

"I hope it's not bad to bring it up, but... did anything else happen after Sonozaki-san and I left? I hope nothing too bad..."

"I wouldn't be too hopeful about that. It sounds like things got worse."

After a slightly belated nod to Kozue, Renju seemed to finally notice the hole in her pastry--possibly because she'd finally poked through to the filling--and took a bite to cover it up, while discreetly wiping her thumb off under the guise of fiddling with her napkin. It also gave Kozue a chance to speak, which was probably for the best; pessimism aside, Renju was also a little curious about what had gone on after she'd left, if only to know what exactly they'd have to potentially overcome if the group tried to get back together.

She pulled up a chair, and sat down a bit primly. "I can't remember exactly when you left," Kozue said slowly, feeling odd about it, and vaguely guilty that she'd only noticed Renju leaving out of the corner of her eye, and couldn't, for the life of her, remember when that'd been.

She took a breath, and tried not to sound all too callous: "Was it after Ito-sempai left? Hm. After Misaki-chan ran off crying? After Shirai-san's yakuza buddy kicked Satou-sempai around for a little while?" It… well, that was a laundry list of the events of the day, and she thought she'd gotten everything.

Masami shook her head slightly. "We left before all that, but I think that answers my question..." She paused. She still wasn't sure exactly what Kozue thought of it all, but she figured that Kozue herself seemed like an all right person, even if her current boyfriend was apparently a lunatic.

"I had hoped that wouldn't be the case, but I'm not surprised that it is... Well, I guess it's pretty safe to say that the old group is probably not going to work together again - at least not for now."

She paused again and took a breath.

"Well. I might as well jump to the point. I don't know about you two, but... well, I really think we have our power for a reason. I'm not going to sit around and watch people die if I think I can do something about it, so I'm going to keep checking out... that other place. I was hoping I could get together the sensible people of the old group to join me. If you don't want to... well, that's your choice and it's not my place to tell you what to do. But either way, I'd appreciate the help of both of you."

With that, Masami stopped speaking. That was it, now all she had to do was wait and see what kind of response she got.
