Who: Shadow Kouchisei and Exploration Team.
What: Dungeon crawling.
Where: Soyokaze Underworld, Paradise.
When: Saturday/Sunday, 30th/31st May.
Why: Dungeon crawling chat supplementals!

Things To See In Iburi:

"Thoughtfulness, dedication to customers' needs and meticulous attention to detail are all things that Soyokaze Touya, a ryotei in the centre of Iburi, is known for. A luxurious and somewhat exclusive resturant, it is famed for managing to be a quiet, tranquil place despite its location in the noisy city centre as well as for its food."

Paradise had kept the Oubai clan business, Soyokaze Touya, as a building inside the city centre. A restaurant needed customers, but this scene had no people. One could walk from the train station to its doors and not meet a soul - none of which could be seen in the entry hall behind dimly-tinted doors. A counter was seven meters away, with chairs and a pot plant on the right. One who went inside would see it was a hospital. The hygenically-scented air fought off infections and strongly made it difficult to breathe. Being a hospital, the walls were white, and so were the bright lights.

Kouchisei hadn't wanted to leave. He'd found comfort here; his mother was close and the fake appearance on the outside would keep people away. He was a quiet man, and his mother had wanted him to bring friends to visit. Regardless, it was hard to change and open himself up to make them. This hospital was a nice place, he thought.

"Hrm. I suppose now I have to get used to the patients giving me something to laugh about."

Kouchisei pushed up his glasses. He had to get used to those words. As it was now, he was a doctor. His job was to heal people. Make them better. Why didn't they want to change? Why were they resistant to all his attempts to help? Why was he still clinging to the notion they were needed? His nose wrinkled.

"As I am, I don't need food." He spoke to Misaki but addressed the whole group. "I hate this hospital and I hate all of you. Now, I won't ask you twice - leave."

"But...But Oubai-sempai...this can't be right. Why would you ask us to leave. If you hate this place then come with us! We'll get you out of here!" Misaki told him and wrapped her hands around his arm. "Please Sempai. This isn't a good place. Somethings wrong here. We need to get you home."

When Misaki didn't let go, Kouchisei removed her hand and looked like she shouldn't have done that.

"Misaki, if you touch me again, I'll kick your ass."

"O..Oubai...Sempai...Is...Is this really you? Why...Why would you say such things?" Misaki wouldn't believe it. "No...no this is not like you at all Oubai sempai. You're a kind person. You care about others. I've seen it. You're not mean like this. You helped me with the flowers remember and you're always polite to other people. You're a good person. Please...Oubai Sempai...don't do this."

She looked at him with horror in her eyes. How could he be like this. This wasn't him...or was it. She wasn't sure anymore. Maybe it was but it wasn't...Misaki didn't know. All she knew was that she wanted her friend back.

Maeko pulled Misaki back, moving between her and Kouchisei.

"Ungrateful bastard." She growled. "Don't dare touch her. She came here to save you. Or would you prefer we let you die here?"

Kanaye glared at Kou. He never liked the kid, and now he was insulting Misaki for trying to help? Bastard.
Kanaye walked in front of Maeko and glared at him again.
"Look, she's just trying to help. If you really want to leave, just leave. There, we're all happy."

Kouchisei glared back at Kanaye. He was fairly sure the older male wasn't a threat. If they didn't get the message, they would do when he eventually crushed them.

"Your reasons for being here are as important as my own. Except you're trying to screw me over."

Kiriko hung near the back of the room while the others approached Kou in turn. She wasn't going to bother wasting her time with that - it was clear something was up and rather than ask any more questions, she folded her arms and eyed the table and Kou warily.

What do we know? she asked herself, trying to piece together the odd circumstances. They had gone looking for Kou and found him here, in a hospital... a hospital that he seemed to run, no less. They were all dressed as doctors and nurses, but only he was in his element.

Could it be that this strange world was having an effect on him? Maybe it was because he had been stuck here too long - maybe they would all end up like this...

"Your mother seems to think visiting you is the right thing for us to do," she commented, hoping that maybe his answer would shed some more light.

Come to think of it, how had his mother called in the first place...? She couldn't be here, too, surely.

Reizo was tired. And annoyed. Mostly annoyed. They’d finally caught up with Kouchisei and now he was having a shitfit about leaving, making (what he considered) idle threats and being a jackass to girls. Real tough guy. He’d have no qualms with leaving him there if he hadn’t already thought up so many delicious ways to make the boy miserable, and how couldn’t very well do any of those if he was sitting around in this creepy hospital?

“It’s cute that you suddenly grew a pair,” Reizo started, voice dripping with vitriol, “But it’s getting late and we’ve been searching for your ass for too long. You wanna be a bitch to people, you can do it when we get back, and maybe..“ He paused for emphasis, taking a long drag of his cigarette. When he spoke again, his voice was low and threatening. Practiced. “I won’t break you in half for making me waste my time on you.”

He dropped his cigarette, shot a quick glare at Kiriko for ruining his last one, and crushed the thing out underfoot. He’d either gotten comfortable in the dress, or was too angry to care about it anymore.

Kiriko's remark drew Kou's attention. His head lifted and he glared in her direction.

"You're lying. You people go on and on about it and I'm sick and tired of listening to your bullshit! If you think I can just resurrect a dead woman then you're an idiot."

His chest rose and fell, and he felt his heart beating quickly. He was also ready to rant further when Reizo stepped in. Apparantly the goddamn dog had got some balls of his own or something. He pulled at his cuffs and breathed deeply.

"Well, I guess I should man up and help people, even those like you. And I will. You see, I have ways of making people help themselves."

Despite the situation, Kanaye couldn't help but crack a smirk.
"Oh, really? And what would those be?"

Kouchisei looked at the Crying Table.

"Tables and chairs. Should be fun whilst it lasts."

Misaki looked at the tables and chairs and touched one. "Oubai-sempai...why are you doing this? Please...stop it. You're only going to make yourself sad and I don't want to see you sad."

She bit her lip, "I know you're upset Oubai-sempai...I know you miss her a lot. But this isn't going to help you...Please...We're not here to play musical chairs and...." Misaki gripped the chair tighter. "I want my sempai back! I want my friend back! I don't want this! This isn't right! Please please...I'm sorry if I hurt you in any way Oubai sempai! Just please don't stay here!"

"Stop apologizing, Misaki." Her voice was commanding, but even so, she stepped forward patted Misaki on the shoulder before folding her arms.
"It isn't your fault. It probably doesn't have anything to do with you. So stop crying over it."

Here, she looked back up at Kou.

"I think we should drag him back with us."

Actually seeing Kouchisei there made Toshimi suddenly feel like she was intruding. If he didn't want to go back, maybe there was no point in taking him back. But they'd already come far enough that it would be ridiculous to leave without accomplishing anything. She never would have expected him to act like he was acting, but she hadn't known him that well in the first place. She decided to try a different approach.

"Oubai-san, uh, maybe you haven't seen them, but there are these Shadow things all over the place here, and they're violent. They've been attacking us and I'm sure they'll attack you too if you run into them." Sometimes stating the obvious worked, but sometimes it didn't. She couldn't level her argument with why the table in the middle wasn't doing anything, after all. Still, she couldn't back out from it now. "If you're serious about helping people, you might consider not having them in dangerous situations. But..." she looked around at the others. "We're not leaving here without you."

Looking at the table Kouchisei knew 'he' wouldn't go back. This was Paradise. Who would want to leave it? He knew why the Shadows weren't attacking. Their goals and outlook - both were the same. He had also had enough of their instance he leave. That dark-haired girl didn't have the power to make him leave because this was his home turf.

"... Then try it," he said, looking at Kiriko.

With that, the table moved. The magician equipment levitated and spun in the air and the mouth on its mask moved.

Misaki moved back behind Kiriko and Toshimi. She bit her lip again. Why was it when she needed to be strong she couldn't be? Gripping the fans in her hands, she twisted them some, feeling the cold sharp edges run over her sweaty palms. Whimpering she said quietly, "Please Oubai-sempai...we don't want to fight you. Please don't make us force you to leave. Just come with us. She asked us to come and get you...please..."

Kouchisei looked at Misaki. His lips curled, and he spoke with malice. "Shut up and die."

And so, the battle with the Crying Table began. By the time it finished, Kouchisei had disappeared. He'd used the commotion to leave.

Kanaye sighed and sat down. That took more out of him then he thought.
"Well, looks like Kou flew the coop. Who's going after him?"

Reizo puffed away merrily on his cigarette, eyeing the group after the battle. They hadn’t done too bad, but what could he expect out of them, really? Good thing they had those freaky mind creatures with them. He flicked his cigarette away and sidled off towards the door. He was growing impatient, and after watching that frustrating fight, itchy to beat the shit out of something himself. Maybe he’d get in a few fights by himself if he was quick enough.

“Better not to let it drag on any longer,” was all he said before exiting through the door.
