Who: Open.
What: Talking.
Where: Lockers.
When: After school.
Why: Threading.

I never expected you to have that much courage to write to me... that I could be interesting enough that you would devote your time writing these letters. I hope you'll write to me again someday.

I think I'd like that.

Kouchisei inserted the letter in his locker. His eyebrows furrowed; it had to be upright between his tennis shoes and kit because everything else would short-circuit his mind. He moved it once. Twice. That increased to four. Finally, he left it atop his gym kit and closed the locker with a sigh. Seeing Nanakamado in ruins and then returning to it - it was sobering.

He wasn't proud of his behaviour, either. His head shook, and he leaned against the locker. There was a contemplative expression on his face. He didn't hate Tom now, but he couldn't trust him.

Maeko held her shoes upright and tapped the heels against the bottom of her shoe locker twice. No pins. There hadn't been pins for years now but it didn't hurt to check. She put her outside schools on, placing the indoor ones in the locker to wear tomorrow. She'd noticed the envelope in Kou's hand but was paying little attention to it. She doubted it was adressed to Misaki and so it was none of her business.

She glanced up at the ceiling again, quickly inspecing it for cracks. She knew there weren't any, it wasn't real. But it had felt real and seeing a building she'd spent as much time in as her own home fall like that was strange. She was suddenly very glad that those things that imitated them liked to change forms before they fought. Seeing the school fall was affecting her even though it wasn't the school. Having to murder a comrade even if it wasn't really a comrade...

...well Reizo would probably be capable of it. She could just not watch and not listen.

"Oubai-san." She said, remembering she had a message for him. She had meant to pass it on in class tomorrow but now was as good a time as any. "The Anti-Bullying club isn't meeting up at lunchtimes anymore until the end of the week. Hamasaki-sensei says he needs to take a few days off and we're not really supposed to do anything if he's not here. The club room'll still be open, though, so if you want to eat lunch there you can."

Kouchisei turned his head slowly and looked at Maeko, blinking once. She hadn't come to talk about the Paradise exploration. Good. He didn't like to remember the state of this hall when it'd fallen into ruin. He leaned against his locker, crossing his arms and using it as a firm support. He'd not thought about the AB-club, really. The expression on his face showed that.

"Oh. Thanks."

He looked at Maeko, and quickly turned his head away. He didn't think she was ugly - he just thought it was rude to stare women in the eye. He appeared relieved it was only a message. At least it wasn't another trip to the skypark. And it was good to eat somewhere private.

"Does it feel strange to you, being here when... you know."

"A little." She said, sighing. It was a little rude to not be looked at when spoken to but it was something she was more than used to. "But it wasn't real. This place exists, that Nanakamado was just a thought someone had."

She nodded, deciding that should be enough reason for her to stop checking the wals for cracks. She still wasn't going to be leaving through the main courtyard.

So far, so good. Not bad for a first day in Nanakamado High.

Nayuki made his way downstairs to the shoe lockers, hoping he could still remember which one it was as the school still hasn't finished making his name plate. He thought heavily of the upcoming periodic exams for lessons that he still needed to catch up on. And it didn't help that the books he required for study ran out of stock and were still being shipped in. "Still," he spoke to himself, "Just minor setbacks in my grand scheme of things."

He took comfort in the rather delightful encounter he had with a first year, and the quality time he had with two of his new classmates. "Now I just need to pick a club to join in, and I'll be set for the year." He was gingerly humming to himself for a while, reaching the shoe lockers and attempting to locate the one temporarily assigned to him. Ah! There you are! Dumping his satchel on the floor, and using it as a stool, Nayuki sits down to have a comfortable reach into his shoe locker. He chose to get a pair of shoes that's half a size larger than his feet so he can easily keep the laces on and treat them like loafers for ease of wear. It didn't take much time till he was back on his feet with his satchel's strap securely resting on his shoulder when he overheard someone mention something about an Anti-Bullying Club. It piqued his interest.

Sounds like a good club to be in... I'll just go on over and ask whoever it is for their requirements and if they're still taking in members. Striding confidently past the other aisles of shoe lockers while following the voices towards the direction of the conversation. He finds the two students at the far end of their aisle, still locked in their conversation. Nayuki remembers the guy leaning against the lockers as one of his classmates, but he had trouble remember if he had encountered the girl before. He was about to call out to the both of them when he heard something strange from the girl. Huh, that's odd... was there another Nanakamado Escalator School?

Shrugging it off as something that didn't concern him, he walks to the two while fumbling for his classmate's name. "Uhm... excuse me." He smiles to them both, "I'm sorry to have bothered the both of you, but I couldn't help but overhear something about an Anti-Bullying Club." There was a bit of a pause, hoping he'd remember the name of the guy, but he decided to give up and just move on to the topic. "I just transferred here... and I was hoping if I could ask either of you for the club details. Most especially to know if they'd still be taking new members in."

Maeko looked back, trying not to seem too alarmed. How much had he overheard? She went back over what she remembered saying. It wasn't too incriminating. A bit weird to a passerby but no real information.

"Tonbo-san, right?" She asked, thinking. "We're in the same class."

She thought "It's a little latein the year already but I guess that can't be helped since you transferred in at a weird time... I don't think the councellor'd mind. He's not in for the rest of the week and we're not meeting until Monday, though."

Backpack slung over his shoulder, Keiichi paused at the small grouping of people. Two of them he knew, the other he really didn't so well. At this point, Keiichi was half-thinking everyone in the school in fact had creatures coming out of their brains, but still, he had to be cautious.

"Hello," he said, quietly, nodding at the trio. "How is everyone today?"

Confronted by a third voice, Kouchisei's head swivelled - he spotted Keiichi in the hall and relaxed some. He leaned against the locker. His knowledge he wouldn't be bothered unnecessarily wasn't unfounded, as he knew Keiichi understood he liked his peace, quiet, and privacy.

He still didn't know the second guy, though. He'd come in on the tailend of a private conversation. He frowned at that, but kept his feelings hidden. How was this guy to know? He just wanted help.

"Keiichi-san, I'd feel better weren't your father trying to shape me into an olympic wrestler," he said dejectedly.

Ito-san's face contorted into a momentary grimace. "That's dad for you," he said, quietly. "He really does mean well, and I don't think it'll be quite as bad as everyone expects. Dad talks a big game sometimes."

Besides, how could the school really allow the Soccer Wrestling Club? Seriously, now.

"Anyway, do you have a moment? There's...sort of something I need to talk to you about." Inwardly, he sighed; why was it always him who got to have the "fun" conversations with people?

Kouchisei's expression changed from thought to surprise. "... If that's something you want. I've got to be heading home soon. Dad's..."

He'd stopped talking. Staring away and down, Kouchisei composed himself by imagining he was alone. How could he allow himself to feel so comfortable that he'd tell Keiichi what his father wanted? His home life was private.

"Needing me tonight. But sure. I've got time."

He waited for Keiichi to lead him away.

"Monday, huh?" Nayuki replied with a half-embarassed smile. "Thank you for the information, I suppose I'll try asking again on that day." He then bows to the both of them. "I'm really sorry, but it seems I have already forgotten both your names. I'm not usually this bad at it, but... Still, I'm very sorry."

I suppose I have to make the most out of this embarrassment. Now, to try and at least get to know them.

He then rises to a composed stance, slings his satchel over one shoulder and offers his hand to both Maeko and Kouchisei. "I'm Tonbo Nayuki... I'll try not to be too much trouble, and it would be very nice to make your acquaintance."

Just then, another set of footsteps echo from behind Nayuki. He turns to see who it is, only to be met with another face he can only vaguely recognize. "Oh, hello." He then steps aside to accommodate the new arrival who seems to display familiarity towards the present company.

Aye, Nayuki... Looks like you're slowly becoming a fifth wheel of sorts.

Supressing a sigh, he turns to face Maeko once again and gives her a reassuring smile. "I guess... I'll just see you all in class tomorrow, huh?" Nayuki's feet wanted to turn and leave, but something from the back of his head was screaming to stand ground.
