Who: Tom and Tori
What: Tom gets caught Red handed
Where: Shrine
When: After school
Why: Cause someone was bound to see it eventually

Thomas was finding that he didn’t have enough time in the day. Between plowing through his school work, investigating a series of murders, and attempted murders, trying to understand a parallel dimension, the powers it granted, stay in shape, and research everyone on the Persona team to see if any of them could be the killer, he was certainly swamped. Recreational learning had gone completely out the window, and even trying to reduce the amount of sleep he got wasn’t helping.  He’d had to pause the murder investigation for the time being, and he was getting into less fights simply because he didn’t have time to go looking for them anymore.
Thomas was forced to conclude that Shadowknights ability to be on the Heroes Society of Earth, capture super criminals, and patrol the streets for regular crime all the while maintaining his secret identity was very likely a fabrication made by comic book creators, similar to invulnerable people who could fly, and love interests.

The lack of fights was exactly why he was out and about. Schoolwork finished, and dead ends on the murder investigation. And as for the Persona users… there was too much confusion there. The things some of them said and the way the acted. Even more then that the way Tom felt talking to them. That group of people twisted his world upside down and he tried not to think about it.
It’d left Tom thinking about how many delinquents like Shirai were running rampant because he wasn’t out there keeping an eye on them.  He’d returned to the spot where weeks ago he’d chased away that group who were picking on people heading to the train station passed the local shrine.  He heard the boys laughing, and the sound of a young girl begging them to stop.
That was more then enough for Tom to get involved. Tom grabbed one, and threatened him, reminding the younger boy what happened last time him and his friends came down here and picked on kids. Tom had promised them hell if they’d come back, and since they’d come back he would deliver.

There were four of them, which worked out for Tom. It was true, unlike TV, groups didn’t attack one at a time, which worked out even better for a lone opponent. When everyone attacks en mass, it was much easier to get them to get in each others way.  He’d managed to take down two of them right off the bat. That was costly though.
Taking out the first two meant the other two could double-team him. Two opponents don’t get in each others way, and they’re very effective, especially when their target is ignoring them in favor of making sure their friends won’t get up again.
He was bruised and bloody before he even saw an opening to strike back, but it wasn’t new for him. In fact it was a more well-known and welcome sensation then the whole being nice thing people had been on about these days. He worked through the pain, and just when they thought he was down, he saw a chance to end the fight.
Once the last two boys where down, Tom knew now was the moment to really sell it. While the four of them rolled on the ground, stunned and trying to recover, Tom stood. He crossed his arms and grinned at them as if he hadn’t even been touched.

“Come on, get up. I’m just getting started.”

At the appearance of an opponent who could take their full pummeling and still be eager for more, the four bullies thought better of staying in their position. They got up and hobbled away as fast as they could.
Tom called after them as they went, again warning them against coming back, but as far as he was concerned, they couldn’t go fast enough. He held his defiant stance until they were out of sight, and then let the injuries wash over him. He collapsed against the shrine’s fence, and spit out a mouthful of blood. Finally he slid down to the ground, and just sat there for a moment. Soon he would grab his first aid kit and patch his wounds, soon he would try and get back to the dorm without being seen, but for just this moment, he needed to sit on the ground and hurt.

"I have scarred... they're mostly covered by the uniform."

He dropped his arms, he was slowly getting back to a dull throb, the usual amount of pain before he could head back tot he dorms. He started to gather his strength.

"Because I'm a bad person. Do you... yeah you know who I am."

He took a breath and looked at her.

"Really you don't need to do that. I can manage on my own, I always do."

Resisting the urge to be childish and say something about being right over Sagaki taking care of his wounds correctly, Tori remained where she was and continued dabbing and bandaging the other cuts and scrapes. Honestly, she hoped not all guys were like Sagaki. She hated seeing scars - rather than thinking of how far the person could come, all she could think of was how stupid the person was for not taking care of their body properly.

"Bad person or not, you shouldn't have to do this on your own," Tori said, moving to the left to get at a better angle. Really, he shouldn't. Not if he couldn't take care of himself. "You obviously can't manage on your own if you keep getting scars. Just let me do this, alright? I won't say anything to anyone, so you can keep your masculine pride."

“*I* can’t manage?” Tom said rather incredulously. “Which one of us was using sterile alcohol wipes to clean a wound, and which one was using a dry tissue?”

He was hardly able to argue when she started to help clean him up, but the bandaging his wounds was too much though. Tom reached out to grab one of the bars ont he fence and pull himself to standing.

"It's fine, I have to get back to the dorm sand shower before I put on fresh dressings. I still have to find that girl and make sure they don't get her on the way out."

Moving, Tori pushed at Tom to get him back down. She wasn't done with him yet, and she'd be darned if she was going to let him walk home and bleed and get scars and infections!

"You didn't pull out your first-aid kit until after I started," Tori shot back, grip tightening to ensure he didn't move away again as she bandaged another one. "After you pulled it out, that's all I've been using. Now sit down; you can shower in the morning. It'd be a waste of bandages otherwise."

She didn't look at her classmate's face; she just continued working on fixing him up as best she could. When he mentioned a girl, though, she did look up.

"A girl?" she echoed, looking at him confusedly for a moment before back down at her work.

Tom was pushed down. His adrenaline wasn't running so much, and now the pain was making it too much for him to reasonably fight back unless he *really* intended to fight back.

The girl was... forceful, but gentle, she seemed to actually want to patch him up. He was about to ask what she expected in return, but then wondered if her care was this hug thing that he'd been reading about. He brushed it aside though, still unsure if those books were even accurate.

When she looked at him Tom realized that he had, in his haste, accidentally mentioned the girl who he had told to run. He was worried that the boys he had chased off might find her, and he knew he couldn't simply deny her existence now.

"There was a girl... she was... uh the turf we were fighting over. They wanted her, and I also... wanted her... for stuff."

In retrospect, Tom thought denying it would have been a better route.

Checking to see if she was finally done, Tori reached into her bag for another tissue to wipe her hands with. She'd wash them when she got to the daycare, of course, but this would have to do for now. Once again, though, her hands stilled at what Sagaki said.

A girl. Being turf. Were he not already injured, Tori would have slapped him.

"She's not property, you know!" Tori exclaimed as she stood up, one hand grabbing her bag handle while the other zipped it up. Slinging it over her shoulder, she glared at Sagaki. "Ugh, you're a lot different than what I thought you'd be, Sagaki-san. I'm really disappointed."

To think, a classmate of hers was such a pervert! And so childish, too, to fight over someone. Was that how he was raised?

Tom was relieved, and honestly kind of surprised. He really hadn't thought the other woman would buy his story about fighting for the girl, and was very thankful she didn't try to ask him what he'd wanted the girl for, because he'd honestly had no idea what he would say.

He kept his gaze away from her, worried that if she could look him in the eye she may realize he was bluffing her.

"I warned you I was a bad person."

The important thing was that his reputation was intact, and that this girl would stay far away from him. It was a win win in Tom's eyes, but Tom saw things in a very different light.

He grabbed the bars of the fence, and pulled himself to standing. He waited for the girl to start walking away before he set off to try and find the middle schooler who had been there at the start of his fight.

Frowning, Tori stared down at him and kept her gaze trained on him as he stood up. He seemed awfully proud of the fact that he was a bad person. Scoffing after a moment, Tori turned.

"I've got to get to work. I'll see you in class," she said, turning with a wave and setting out down the shrine's path and then down the sidewalk she had originally been on. She really was surprised to know such a guy, even if it was in passing. Disgusting, that's what it was.

. . .

The girl. Sagaki had said he was going to look for her, didn't he? Stopping, Tori turned and looked back down to see Sagaki leave for somewhere. She had to follow him and make sure that he didn't do anything! Her boss would have to understand!

Stepping quickly after him, Tori followed behind.

Tom found the girl hiding nearby. Apparently she had been too scared to run too far. He slumped against a wall.

"They're gone. But it's dangerous, stay away from that shrine if you're alone..."

Tom thought for a moment, that the girl might mistake him for a hero. So he tried to look menacing, if he weren't bandaged and bruised he would very likely have failed.

"...Because uh... it's my territory, and I don't like kids there... by themselves. SO if you need to go there make sure you have a bunch of friends with you!"

The small girl nodded and turned to run off, and Tom leaned against the wall, putting a hand to his head. This trip out had not been going especially smooth, but at least it would be over now.

Lurking behind a tree, Tori watched the event unfold silently. She wasn't sure if he was trying to intimidate the kid or to be a good guy; he did basically tell her to look out for herself and to be more careful. Deciding to pick the positive side, Tori slid out of her hiding spot when the girl ran off.

"Are you planning on having a party here?" Tori asked, one hand holding the strap of her backpack. "You said she could come back if she had more people with her."

Tom looked over at Tori and almost jumped. He mentally scolded himself, had he gotten so out of it that he'd forgotten how to check and make sure he wasn't being followed?

"What are you doing here? I thought you had work."

His voice was a little bit too concerned, and little too shocked, like she had very obviously caught him doing something wrong.
