Who: Kozue and Tom.
What: Tom asks Kozue about her martial arts skills.
Where: a place.
When: A few days after Toru's dungeon: after school.
Why: Tom wants to know about love

As far as Thomas could tell, based on the stories, Kozue Kondo was some sort of... sexual predator. Repeatedly involving herself with multiple people, and then abandoning them. Tom doubted that's what people refered to when they talked of her experience. The interaction between her and Ito, and between everyone else seemed to confuse and fluster all of the people present save Kondo, and he was curious about that. He had his doubts thtat it was some kind of combat technique, but whatever it was he didn't quite understand, and Tom didn't like having things he didn't understand.

It was not hard to track someone like Kondo down, and when he did he waved her over to a more quiet area. Something hard to find when Kondo was around. He shifted uncomrotably as people stared at them both. Ikeda, Shirai, Ito, all of these people he knew how to deal with. Konod was in that group that he jus had no concept of how to interact with.

"Umm... can I talk to you for a moment? In a.. more private area.."

Kozue really hadn't noticed Sagaki tailing her around, busy concentrating on her friends and her phone and her plans for the afternoon. But when he spoke, her head shot up, and she blinked, surprised for a moment. Wasn't he completely anti-social? Why would he talk to her? "Oh. Of course."

She took a few steps over, trying to fight back that familiar idiotic idea that she was going to get totally axe murdered or something - he probably just wanted to talk about Paradise. "How are you, senpai? You look well."

But what exactly could she tell him about Paradise or the Persona-things - he seemed to know more than her, after all. Could it be he'd gotten enough confirmation on those perennial rumors about her - she's easy, she'll date anyone - that'd he'd gotten the idea that... But no, he'd been terrified when Misaki had hugged him. That didn't make sense either.

Tom moved away from the crowd even further. He would rather have taken her to the classroom he usually used for private discussions, but that was much further then Kondo's classrooms.

"Those...umm... techniques that were used in that... situation. It may have been obvious that I didn't understand them. They seemed to think you were quite experienced... you and Satou, but I worry that if I spend time alone with Satou I would be tempted to see if my studies on pressure points can be applied,... but that may leave him crippled if I do it wrong.... so I come to you.

Can you help me understand what that was?"

Kozue followed Sagaki at a little bit of a distance, getting more and more curious as he continued to speak. Where was he going? What did he want? Techniques?

"Senpai, I have no idea what you're talking about." She said as he finished. "I'd like to help, really, but... can you just explain what you're confused about?"

She chewed it over in her head, slowly. Wait. Did he mean... Oh, not that Expert-san stuff with Kanaye. She frowned as it dawned on her: this was a dumb way to go about it if he did just want to get into her pants. (Well, metaphorical pants - schoolgirl skirt, whatever.) Asking for 'help understanding'. Riiiiiiight.

Tom looked around to make sure they were alone before speaking again. He really didn't like admitting that there was something everyone else seemed to know that he didn't. When he did find a suitable place for a discussion, he turned to face the girl, and took a few steps back to give her enough room for explanation.

"Okay... so... those actions... what you did to Ito, and what Aoi did to me... I'd like to study it, but I don't have any experience with it. I've seen methods like that used before between people, but I know it was never covered fo rme in any of my training, or reading."

He brought his hand up to his chin and thought for a moment.

"Maybe you could just tell me what they're called, give me an idea of where to start looking and I can look it up on my own?"

"You want to look up hugs and kisses?" she asked, in a flat voice, profoundly confused all of a sudden. It was - this was just weird. If he wanted to take advantage of her, the next line was clearly You can explain it - and then demonstrate or We can practice together. Sagaki was going off-script, and Kozue didn't have the slightest idea what to do about it.

"Misaki-san just hugged you, that was all," Kozue reiterated slowly, shifting balance back and forth between her feet in a nearly unconscious display of discomfort. "It's pretty straightforward. Although I'm sure she only meant it in a friendly way." Because Misaki liking this guy? Seemed ridiculous on an almost epic level. Besides, Misaki had her.... uh, her Akuba, if Kanaye's constant odd remarks were to be taken at all seriously.

"Use them for? They're for... they're just for their own end, really. Because they're enjoyable."

It was a weird question: who wouldn't connect physical affection with pleasure - with the concept that you do it merely because it's pleasurable? It was, at least for Kozue, the primary reason: showing affection to others or pleasing someone else were involved, somewhere in there, but it was her own enjoyment that she privileged. After all, she was the same Kozue that switched boyfriends at the drop of a hat.

	Tom's face scowled up in a frown. His tone indicating that he clearly believed that such a concept was silly. "That doesn't make sense, why would someone engage in physical contact unless it to fight?" Tom shrugged. "Or fornication, but I know neither was going on in the classroom last night." "Fornica-?" Kozue stopped, not wanting to break out laughing - or choke, she wasn't sure which. And that had been kind of loud, too. Whoops. "I don't know that I've ever heard someone under seventy years old use the word 'fornication'."

Her grandmother, for instance, loved the verb 'fornicate'. Especially when combined with the noun 'foreigners' - the two combined for a frequent diatribe at the Kondo home.

Then, curiosity won out: "Why wouldn't it make sense to do something just because it felt good?"

Tom shook his head.

"There are a lot of things people do for recreation, but they don't "hug" or "kiss" for it."

He reached up and ran his fingers through his hair, and regarded Kozue. Why did this girl think this way? She didn't seem misinformed, and it didn't seem like she was lying either. The situation was confusing, and strange.

"Maybe...." he took a breath and looked away from her. "Maybe this will be enough for me to research. I'm sorry to have bothered you."

That poor, poor boy. Kozue blinked: "It wasn't much trouble, Sagaki-senpai - and good luck with your research. If you have any more questions I can try and help you, but you might not want to drag me away from a group by saying we have to go somewhere more private. It might damage your reputation." Even more that it was already tarnished, but his reputation was crazy violent American. He probably didn't need to add player or sexual predator to that.

"I'll see you around, then?" she asked, taking a step or two backward and smiling placidly. She did feel rather bad for him, though. At the end of the day, America-senpai just really needed to get laid. Too bad she wasn't going to be able to help him with that: he was hot and all, but she had a strict policy against fooling around with crazy people.
