WHO: Keiichi and Kiriko
WHAT: Discussion following Reizo's dungeon.
WHERE: In front of the dorms
WHEN: After their respective visits to Kozue.
WHY: Because they have more in common than they likely know.

Out front of the dorms wasn't a popular haunt for Keiichi, but somehow, a neutral location seemed appropriate for this particular meeting. He leaned against the front wall of the building, drinking a Bromonade, lips puckering at its sourness.

Finishing the beverage off, he tossed the bottle back and forth in his hands. Paradise this time had been more strenuous and more real than usual. Perhaps that was what had brought out the shadow within. Perhaps it had been self-preservation.

Or, perhaps, Keiichi had made the decision and would stand by it. The aftermath had been so overwhelmingly negative that it had almost pushed Keiichi away from his computer. People not *understanding* bothered him, far more than he'd imagined it would.

Well, if nothing else, he knew the person he was meeting here would understand.

"Of course he would have, and he would have made his decision over something petty." Kiriko leaned back against the bench. She was thinking of Kozue, really - she couldn't be sure whether or not he would throw her to the wolves for her double-sin of appearing hafu and dumping him, but it was among the justifications she had cooked up after the fact. "Plus, he was willing to let Shirai just die in there, so whatever he might have to say about team unity is garbage."

When the topic shifted, her demeanor did as well. The complaints about her teammate, she made with ease and without hesitation, but feeling suddenly under scrutiny caused her to lapse into a not altogether friendly silence. The meaningful trailing was unwelcome, and exactly the kind of unwelcome she had anticipated having to deal with, since Reizo had gone and busted their non disclosure agreement. It bothered her immensely to have people guessing at her intentions and feelings, especially before she'd even had a chance to put words to them.

Her back straightened slightly, her eyes sharp and her gaze direct. She refused to surrender control of the conversation.

"I'm fine," she answered shortly, continuing in warning tones. "The rest of it is none of your business."

She was about as confident in that as he was, it seemed. He still had a handful of reservations, but everything had turned out well, hadn't it?

Ah, but the Kiriko he knew was always there, just beneath the surface. Her change of expression wasn't particularly subtle, though it might have been to him with his limited people experience in prior years. These days, though, he recognized it as an offensive stance.

Even now, with them on something resembling better terms, there was a definite wall between them, one erected of her own choosing.

"Easy, easy," he replied, one hand held up in surrender. "I've been in that situation too, you know. A few times. You were a lot more outwardly calm about it than I ever could have been."

In and of itself that probably said more about Keiichi than he really liked to think about.
