WHO: Seiko and Tom
WHAT:Finally Tom answers!
WHERE: Dorm roof.
WHEN: Post-confession
WHY: Luuuuuurve

Seiko had almost ran the whole way to the Dorm roof, taking the stairs two at a time and skidding out of the door onto the roof. Hesitating for a moment She quickly checked her uniform and ran a hand through her hair. Puffing slightly from the run she scanned around looking for Tom.

She still expected him to say no, even now she imagined she was probably going to get a rejection, followed by an incredibly awkward, but logical explanation why. But he'd taken a long time to think about it, he must have some feelings for her, that encouraged her a little, there had to be a chance he'd say yes, as he hadn't rejected her outright.

Finally spotting Tom, she hurried over, she desperately wanted to know his answer, good or bad, if it was bad then she could at least begin trying to get over him, and being sure they could still work together as friends, if he said yes, she was less sure what she'd do, she hadn't really planned for that outcome however much she hoped for it.

"Um hey!" She said with a wave as she got closer.

Seiko tilted her head up to look at Tom, but still keeping her arms around him, staying close.

"Oh well um, usually at the beginning of a relationship you just do normal fun things. Like, going to the cinema, or out for coffee, or just like, a walk in the park. Things to get to know each other better, take time to get used to the idea of being in a relationship." She smiled up at Tom, still marveling slightly at the fact he had accepted her.

"There isn't really any pressure to do any specific thing, you just do things at your own pace." And judging from the fact he seemed to have trouble even touching her waist she assumed his pace might be fairly hesitant. Not that she had any issue with that, she just wanted him to be aware she didn't expect anything from him, that she was happy for things to progress slowly if that was how it was meant to be.

"But in a relationship, you need to be honest, and always tell each other how you feel, not just about the relationship, even if it is just how your day was, being excited over a new book coming out even. Your partner is the one person who always wants to hear those things, to know about you, to help you where they can, and just to be close to you. So as long as we always are sure to talk to each other we should be okay, its important."

Tom looked at Seiko for a moment. His mouth hung open. After a second he bit his lip and swallowed.

"Uh... okay... so... honest... right. Okay." He nodded for a second, wondering if he'd held onto her long enough yet. She hadn't let go so maybe he shouldn't either.

"Okay so... I'll tell you about the stuff I've been doing for fun right?

Okay... so... oh! Right! Books I'm excited about. Right... so lately I've been reading a lot about love, sex and romance. You know for obvious reasons. I've found a lot of contradictory articles, though they all seem very convinced that I should be afraid of commitment. And that you would "tie me down." It was a bit confusing, as some of the articles spoke of the tying in a metaphorical way, and some in a more literal sense, even offering diagrams.

But my real interest has been psychology books. I've got one I bought from the nearest university, plus one from the US, and one from Germany. It seemed like after our interrogation of Mikio it seemed like our enemies can be affected by their emotions when in their human bodies, so I thought I might study human emotions to use that against them.
It's part of why I agreed to get involved with you. I mean besides the fact that you're physically attractive, and I agree with your ideas a lot, and enjoy you're company... plus the only person who's ever been as nice to me as you is Kondo-chan, but in addition to those reasons I thought that by being in a relationship I could experience and quantify the emotions I would feel. Then I could use them as a sort of... control right?" Tom cocked his head to the side and looked up into the air.

"Ummm... I've been cross reference the "Millennium City" to see if it has any significance in mythology like our personas. So far nothing outside of a Millennium City in Hong Kong, but that's already been built. Oh and also the significance of the numbers on those masks that appear on our faces. It might give us an idea of why we were specifically picked to have the personas." Tom started to fall silent then. Nodding to himself to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything.

"Oh! And I bought an anatomy text book. I'm trying to compare injuries we inflict on the shadows with the way they effect humans to try and understand shadow biology. It's hard work and mostly conjecture. At least as long as I'm using the text. They only let you use cadavers for medical study. I suppose I could fake being a medical student, but I've played pretty fast and loose with the law for awhile, and I don't want to draw too much attention." Finally satisfied that he'd covered all the recent books he'd been excited about he looked toward Seiko.

"So that's what I've been doing in my spare time. What do you do?"

Seiko lent back a little and tried to process all of that information, somehow his desire to experiment with cadavers was less worrying than his
'reason' for dating her, well one of his reasons. She shook her head slightly, trying to focus on the nice things he had said. That he agreed with her a lot, he liked having her around. The rest of the stuff she was fairly prepared for, after all this was Tom, this was his idea of fun so she had to just accept that. Maybe she should just be flattered she was even included in that in some way. One thing however she felt needed comment.

"Oh uh, don't worry too much about the whole tying thing, I won't do that, I mean unless you want- uh." She paused. "Possibly that is a conversation for another time."

She rubbed her temple, what she did for fun? It wasn't going to sound very serious she supposed compared to Tom's interests, but she had said they must be honest, she took a breath.

"Well I study a lot, its not really fun but its important to me, I want to do well after I got held back last year, you know, prove I'm better than what I was. I'm trying to read more, especially about tanks since I drove that one, they're really interesting, especially the mechanics of how they work And I see my friends a lot, not just the ones from the team, but my old ones from before I was held back."

She looked a little embarrassed. "I like doing stuff like going for walks, or to Kiga Kiga for ice cream, or the Zoo! The Zoo is awesome, I took Maeko-chan a while ago to cheer her up. But really a lot of my time that isn't spent involved in uh 'team activities' is spent studying, or I spend time with my Dad."

Another pause, as she bit her lip, she didn't know how much Tom knew about her home life, she supposed she probably should explain it a little. "Dad was in an accident when I was fifteen, so he's badly scarred, and he lost an arm and vision in one eye, so he needs help sometimes, and company as he lives alone besides Goro-sama. So I try to see him a lot. And I guess I don't do much besides that, this thing we are involved in sort of takes over your life, but I don't really find it fun exactly." She moved back away from Tom to sit up straight again and wrap her arms around her knees.

"I suppose none of that is very exciting sounding..."

Tom nodded.

"You're father's car accident was terrible. Given the details, plus the divorce shortly afterward, I would say he'd have to be a remarkable man to have survived." He leaned back slightly, finally letting his arm slip from Seiko.

"So then... we should... go to the zoo? And then get ice cream right?"

Seiko grinned proudly.

"Dad is awesome, he managed really amazingly well after the accident, and when Mum went, he tried really hard to work through it." She shrugged. "He said if she didn't love him enough to accept him whatever he looked like, then she only loved the wrong parts of him. His handsomeness and his money, not the things that were really special."

She glanced at Tom. "Its why I consider people's personalities to be so much more important than the way people look. My Dad is an incredible person, but people only see his scars."

She wondered why she had suddenly got so deeply into her feelings and her past, it was probably too much to suddenly unload this all on him, after all it was Tom, he'd either accept it with a shrug, or take it in a way she had never even considered. It was probably best to try to return to something neutral.

"Oh we don't have to do those things, we can do anything that we'd both enjoy. I mean just because I've done those things with Maeko and they were fun, doesn't mean you have to do them with me."

At Seiko's mention of her fathers scars, Tom's hand slid along his chest for a moment, then tilted his head.

"Wait, if you're focus is on personalities... I mean... my personality kind of clashes with the people I interact with." Tom reached up and scratched his head.

"We should explore joint interests, I... umm... aside from my research, I don't usually do things that most people would consider fun. But I'm willing to try... maybe we should do the things that you enjoy, to see if any of them are things I also enjoy?"

Seiko shook her head, folding her arms across her chest. "Well just because your personality clashes with other people, doesn't meant it clashes with me. And your personality isn't about what you say, its about your intentions. You intend to protect the team, you intend to help people, you intend to be brave, the words you use might not always be right, but that isn't what matters."

Standing up she stretched her arms above her head, she still wasn't quite sure what was going on, how it had happened that Tom had accepted her. She was happy, more than that, she was ecstatic, except really she'd never been exactly committed to someone. And that the person she had decided to try to be committed to for the first time was Tom? That wouldn't make things easier she was fairly sure of that.

"Well we have plenty of time for those things, and trying to find out what we both enjoy. I mean some things are just walking in the park or something, and we already went out on a walk with Max on the beach. So even that can be something couples do together." She looked around the roof. "We can go do something now, just walk Max or something?"
