Why: Someone needs to be responsible about these things.

Kiriko leaned back from the laptop with her knuckle pressed to her lip. Her narrowed eyes flashed over the article she had been reading again, though this time she was looking through it more than at it. There was an unfortunate lack of details, really - mention of the little brother, "possible abuse allegations," and no word on what might have become of him.

And naturally, no word on the status of one of her more fragile teammates.

He was living alone now, she recalled as she fished her phone out of her bag. And there wasn't anybody she could really count on to check in on him and make sure things were fine, was there? He'd have information anyway. She flipped open the phone and grimaced, then glanced at the clock. It was late enough, but... Stupid limited texting plan.

She scrolled through her address book, found the number, and called.

[ When Toru answers the phone, there's some shuffling on his end and it's a second before Kiriko speaks. ]

Hey, Ishinomori-kun? How are you?

	You're lucky that they aren't already investigating you! I can't believe Arai would have done something like that to you, though. It doesn't mean anything.

[ That answer was snappish and defensive. After another pause, her voice is softer with a definite note of rare sympathy. ]

Sometimes people just aren't who you were expecting. You just have to move on and break the power they have over you. Arai might have been an important person to you, but... that doesn't matter now.
