Who: Toru and Yoshimi
What: Campfires and marshmallow roasting.
Where: The Beach.
When: One of the last days at the beach, evening
Why: Toru will have his sweets, in this life or the next!

Knock, knock.

There was an unusually meek and unassertive knock on Yoshimi's door. It hardly even seemed to count as a knock. Might have been a door closing down the hall, or just the wind.

But the sound came again.

Knock, knock, knock.

Quiet though it was, it definitely seemed to be a person's doing.

On the other side of the door stood a hungry and bored Toru, with a plan in his head and a gut feeling that he should talk to Yoshimi. He wasn't sure why her, of all people, but she seemed likely to help.</i>

Yoshimi just smiled reassuringly while she waited for Toru to finally stammer his way to the point; it was hard to be impatient when her friend was obviously trying to talk to her, no matter how awkward and time-consuming the end result was.

"Sure! A campfire sounds great." And it did; the sun was just starting to set over the ocean, and the oppressive afternoon heat was fading into something more tolerable. But, more than the weather, she was deeply aware of the fact that there were only a few days left to their summer vacation, meaning that this was something of a now or never proposition — and, forced to choose between the two, Yoshimi always went with now. Mind made up, she went to slip Jiro back into his kennel, then tossed in a toy for her ferret to play with while she was out.

"Want me to run down to the kitchen to get marshmallows and stuff?" she asked, unfazed by the news that Kiriko was being so pushy with her newest pet project.

"Y-yeah, could you? I don't stand a chance getting in there." Toru nodded gratefully to Yoshimi, then sat down on her floor.

"Er... I can keep Jiro company while you're gone, if nothing else..." The ferret certainly seemed cute, and giving him attention was probably wiser than trying to monitor Yoshimi's marshmallow mission.

"Well, hey, leave it to me." Yoshimi gave a lazy salute, because a kitchen run was way more fun if you turned it into a secret stealth mission. "I figure that Ikeda-san can't say anything to me, since I'm on two sports teams. I run like a million miles a day." And that was on top of Paradise and the metabolism of a ferret-owning fifteen-year-old, which explained all the Kiko's, really.

"You stay here and keep my buddy company while I step out, and I can use my immunity to scrutiny to fetch us some marshmallows and hot dogs."

And with that, she was out the door, humming the theme music from Steel Cog Plasma.
