Mokoto was sitting alone this time in the classroom and looked rather unhappy. The discussions with the teachers, Kei's parents, and Kouchisei's father had not exactly endeared her to the situation. Not only that but there were clues that she found that made her think that a student was behind both matters and that distressed her. How could anyone one do such a thing to their fellow student? It was repugnant not to say the least bit disturbing.

She let out a long sigh as she waited for Satou and Retsu to come in. Both would be interviewed and she wasn't to thrilled at the prospect of grilling either boy. Both were known for their charms.

They had better take this seriously. she thought as she heard the door slide open.

"Enter."

Maeko had no intention of lettling this woman interrupt her work again, though what she had now was hardly schoolwork. There was always work to be done of some kind or another. There was a large open notebook in her left hand, where she'd kept a detailed record of things mentioned at the anti-bullying club, with a smaller one nestled inside it. She quietly jotted down points of interest. To an outsider, it would just appear she was using the time she was being forced to wait outside the classroom to study.

Shiori left the room and Maeko assumed this meant it was her turn, concentrating more on the notebook than on speaking to her classmate despite the potential gravity of the situation. She closed the books and held them against her chest as she entered the room.

"Detective Shirow-san." She said, nodding couteously. "You wanted to speak to me?"

Smiling some Mokoto nodded her head, "Yes, thank you for coming in again Akuba-san. Please take a seat, I wanted to talk to you today about Oubai Kouchisei-san, or rather specifically about what you know about his vanishing act."

Maeko tried not to appear too guarded, though she was a little surprised that the detective had managed to make a connection too quickly.

Maybe it's just a coincidence... She thought to herself, trying to remain calm.

"Oubai-san? He's in my class and he did miss shcool for a while..." She said, thinging. "...Ishino-sensei said that his absence was for bereavement."

"Yes his father mentioned about his mother's death, although he was spotted by students around town during the time that he went missing. According to Ikeda-san she hangs out with him, you've been seen among a group of students that are around him the most. I'm curious as to what your relationship is with him." she said seriously.

"I heard about that. I figured it was just a rumour, though. I didn't want to tell you anything that might have just been a rumour." Maeko said, buying herself a few precious seconds to come up with an excuse.

"Ah, when...When I heard about his mother's death I thought it was a problem that he didn't seem to have many friends to talk to." She said, lying quite easily. "Since I'm class rep, I thought I should do soemthing about it. Morale's already pretty low in the class because of Sato-kun..." She trailed off again there. It was a natural place to stop and it gave her time to think.

"I-I didn't want anyone in the class to be depressed or anything, that'd be the worst! My friend was worried about him, too, so we thought we should invite him to hang around with us. I think a bunch of other people had the same idea, too." She made a mental note to find a way to speak to Misaki before the policewoman could so the younger girl could confirm her story.

Mokoto carefully watched her motions, something about her motions didn't make her trust that the girl was being honest with her. "So as class Rep do you talk to the students alot? Can you tell me if you talked with Sato-san at all about issues in the past. I was told that he had been refrered to your club at some point?"

"Your friend?" she glanced at Maeko and ran her fingers into her breast pocket and pulled out the photo. "You mean this girl? Aoi Misaki-san. She was seen in the compay of both boys at different times. How well do you know her, Oubai-san, and how well did you know Sato-san?"

"If they need someone to talk to, of course." Maeko said, nodding. "I spoke to Sato-san in the club more often than I did in class. It wasn't over bullying here, though. I think he just wanted to talk about things that happened at his old school. Because it wasn't something we could do anything about the councellor ended up seeing him personally instead."

Maeko frowned the second she saw the photo, stuggling to hide it. If this woman was going to hurt Misaki then she needed to be removed. "I've known Misaki-chan since she started elementary school. We've been friends for a long time. I was in the same class as Oubai-san almost as long but we never spoke until recently. Like I said, I started talking to him recently because Ishino-sensei told us about his mother and I didn't want anyone in the class becoming depressed. I never spoke to Sato-san as a friend, only as class rep or as an Anti-Bullying club member."

"I see, bullying is a problem. Did you try to refer him to others that might have had the same problem. Just what does the anti-bullying club do, Akuba-san? I've heard that it's still rather new and that you're working on things. Has anyone else come in like Sato-san to talk about such matters?" Mokoto asked and watched her motions. "So no one had a personal relationship with him then, in your class I mean."

Crossing her arms Mokoto gave a nod, "I see, You seem to be a very compassionate young woman Akuba-san. You said that Aoi-san has known you since elementary school. Has she ever spoken to you about Sato-san? I've heard from other students that the two were quiet close, one went even as far to say, a couple?"

"The councellor started the club believeing students might do more willing to discuss sensitive issues with thier peers than with teachers or himself. We listen to people's problems, take note of students who are reported as bullies on multiple occasions and alert the councellor or a teacher if the situation is out of hand."

"They were not a couple." Makeo snapped before catching herself. "...What I mean is, they spoke sometimes. Misaki was very concerned for him because he didn't have anyone to speak to. I think he helped her with her literature work."

The reaction was not one she was expecting, but it was rather interesting. Mokoto smiled at the girl and considered the possiblities, whatever her reasons were this Maeko girl now had a legitamate motivie to want to get Kei out of the way. After all she apparently was very protective of her friend.

"How often do you meet and does the information about what happens in the meetings get out to the general public? Like would anyone in the group discuss what had been discussed in the meetings to their friends and then this is passed on?" Mokoto asked seriously looking down at Maeko. "So Aoi-san did have reason to be with Sato-san. Did she talk fondly of either boy? I hear she is a favorite among some of the older students here at school, at least in the Althetics department."

"We meet every lunchtime, if there's no student council meetings." Maeko answered dutifully. "Nothing is passed on without the consent of the student. In Sato's case I would need to ask the councellor's permission to tell you details of what he told me."

"Misaki-chan's being with Sato-san was purely altruistic. She didn't want him to feel alone. Her spending time with Oubai-san is for entirely the same reason." Maeko had managed to get around her previous slip but could not get a small amount of agression out of her voice. "Her popularity is because of that same attitude and has little relevance to anything.

"Alright then I'll speak to him regarding that," Mokoto stated and looked at her. "Akuba-san, you mentioned that Aoi-san's popularity is because she's the friendly sort right? Would it be too suspect to believe in the possiblity of someone becoming jealous of her friendships with either of these boys?"

Maeko calmed a little when the officer's reason for suspicion turned out to be about other people's jealousy rather than Misaki herself.

"I don't think...I don't think anyone in this school would kill over her, if that's what you're implying. I don't know about people outside of the school but I doubt her popularity extends that far anyway."

"Has she ever talked to you about what she and Sato-san did during their time together? I do have a note here from a student stating that she was going to tell him something the day before he was discovered dead. Do you happen to know anything about this Maeko-san?" Mokoto asked kindly and seemed thoughtful.

The whole cases was going around in circles the few things she knew were this. First that Sato and Oubai did hang around with at least two of the same people and Aoi had connections to all the students. Two was the fact that both Oubai and Sato had vanished from their repective homes. Three was the fact that both had left behind items in school that they would not normally have. Which had lead her to suspect it had to involve the students or staff.

"All I know is that he was helping her with studying literature. He skipped a lot and so they said he had to tutor younger students if he wanted to keep his scholarship." Maeko said. "I don't know anything about her telling him something."

Maeko seemed to have calmed down but she was guarded. Did this woman honestly think Misaki would have anything to do with Sato's death?

"I see," she was perplexed. This whole case was a locked room incident, but just how did it happen and why? This boy didn't seem like there was any problems. Unless...

"Akuba-san, did anyone in the school, outside of your club, know about Sato-san's past? What I mean is, did anyone in the school know anyone from his old school? And did you or anyone else see anyone outside of school bother Sato-san?"

"As far as I know, he only spoke to myself and the councellor about it. I was hardly watching him every second, though."

Maeko thought a little. "He may have discussed it with Ishino-sensei, I suppose. He talked to her a lot."

"He did?" Ah ha, now they were getting some where. She looked at Maeko curiously. "How often did he talk with her? Do you know?"
