Investigation Team Meeting attempt number 3
Who: Persona Users!
What: Investigation meeting v. 3.0.
Where: Ant-Bullying Club room
When: Tuesday Afternoon.
Why: Cause we need to talk without getting interrupted!

Thomas made sure to get to the Anti-bullying room early. He wanted to make sure there were no interlopers, eavesdroppers, or problems this time around. He set his bag down on a nearby desk,  and checked the room for recording devices. Normally he wouldn't figure on them, but with Akuba the club president...

He would have preferred to hold the meeting in the room he gave them. The previous music room still had the sound baffling set up which would make eavesdropping almost impossible. But Oubai had suggested the meeting,  and the last time he'd been in room 22-C was when Tom locked him in there. Tom didn't think the other boy would appreciate being in there again at this point. And Tom figured they needed to do as much to keep this meeting on track as possible.

Once he was sure the room was safe, he grabbed his bag. Inside was all the information he had. He flexed his right hand, still freshly bandaged. Finally ready, he pulled up a chair near the front of the room, facing the door  and waited. for everyone else to arrive.

"Aoi has a good point, and something I was thinking about.

The truth is there's no way for us to save everyone who goes into Paradise, if we figure out who's going in, then yes we can try and protect them, but otherwise...

When you have a killer on the loose, you need to focus on stopping the killer, not preventing the victims from dying, otherwise you're just protecting people for the rest of your life."

He put a hand up, and eyed Keiichi before looking back at the group.

"Not that I'm saying there is a killer doing this, but there is a chance that people are being put into Paradise against their will. Either some one out here is throwing them in, or some thing is coming out of Paradise and dragging them back.

If that is the case then we need to find out what and stop it.

If that's not the case and *anyone* can walk in then...

Then it might be time to think about taking this public. The police, the government should be told so they can do something about it.

Nineteen students in an after school club is not enough to police an alternate dimension.

But either way, the first step would be to figure who can enter Paradise, and what happens to them once they're there."

"Pff. Take this to the police? Oh, yes, they'll believe us." Kanaye snorted before talking in his own imitation of Tom's voice. "There is an alternate universe, parallel to our own. People are dying in there, killed by an alternate version of themself, based on their repressed emotions, called a shadow. You can fight these by using a persona." he scoffed before going back to his normal voice. "Yes, they'll definitely believe us. Especially when we have so paragons of morality such as Reizo in our group."

"You are right about how the people are getting in there, wrong about what to do afterwords."

"What the hell-!" Maeko began, finally for a few seconds enraged enough with Reizo to actually do something about it. Bringing so many weapons into the school, bringing them to the room without thought for being followed...and tere was no question that dropping all those weapons onto the table would scratch it horribly and questions would be asked. "Why...why would you even..." She trailed off again, finishing the sentence in sign. Did he never think?

Her rage faded fast, though. Weapons were a form of power. She'd felt safer in paradise than she did in the real world sometimes because she could keep the fire axe in her hand. She picked up a large knife, turning it and watching the light reflect from its' blade. Holding it was calming.

"The locker." She said, a little distracted, pointing to a locker in the corner of the room. "If you enter the locker code backward and turn the dial the wrong way it opens into paradise. It's harder to do accidentally than just openning a door the wrong way, if we need to hide something like these it'll be the best place."

She looked up, more focussed again but still holding the knife. "I doubt the police'll do anything. They're useless enough when it's totally mundane and they're given all the information they need. Expecting them to think, let alone do anything, is like expecting Satou-senpai to be quiet."

Misaki gave Renju a quick glanced then put it down and rumaged around carefully. There were a lot of sharp items in there. "Um...that's not always true Maeko-chan, Detective Shirow is trying. She's been going over everything in Sensei's office to see if maybe there was some sort of connection to Sato-kun."

Pulling her hand out she shook her head, "Anyway, even if the police did believe us, we would still have to explain how it is that we know all about this. Maybe we should try to do what they do in some dramas I've seen. Where they make a huge tree and connect things as they go along, and cross off things that they don't know. Like..."

She thought a moment, "We know that Sato-kun, Toru-kun and Oubai-sempai are all very...er...shy people. They don't, or didn't, like to interact much. Aomori-sensei, while he was really popular, also didn't tend to interact much, so maybe we should start by looking at shy people?"

"So... I'm not the only one that thinks there's a killer in the school?"

Tom looked at Misaki.

"I've already have a full map worked up in my dorm room since Sato died. Until Aomori died I was working on the possibility that it was Persona users who were being targeted. Suggesting that Aomori was shy is a bit of a stretch, but I haven't seen much of connection between the victims."

He put a finger to his chin.

"If we go by standard investigation procedure, then we should try and figure out a time line of what happens to each victim, from when they're taken to when they died."

"You have a... map of the case in your room?" Kozue stared, and then caught herself and wondered why she bothered. Why was she surprised by the crazy things Tom did? Hopefully the puppy didn't chew on it too much.

"And I really don't want anyone finding out that we're involved and we have weird powers. Like the police, or our parents," she added to the reasons Not to Tell the Cops. "If they would ever believe us, it'd still be really bad." She paused. "Wait, who says Sato-sempai was a Persona user?" What made someone a Persona user, anyway?

"If it comes down to a choice between people dying and us giving ourselves up, we don't have a choice. But if it comes to that, I'll do it and keep everyone else out of it. No one here volunteered for this.

And I didn't say he was, just, there was nothing to suggest he wasn't. Either way it didn't pan out."

Toru nervously walked up towards the huge pile of weapons, and began to nervously pick through it. As he listened to Tom argue with the group, he found something that seemed right. A kind of bo-staff, as it was. He looked over to the others.

"I-is it alright if I keep th-this? I... well, I haven't been doing much damage to the shadows, lately, and..." He trailed off. "Err, rather... the police never do anything when situations like this happen in anime. If they did believe us at all, they might even end up as more victims."

Toshimi had been tuning most of the meeting out, simply not being in the mood to discuss these matters. When Reizo had come in with his bag full of weapons, she'd glanced up at them (wondering how he'd managed to sneak them all into the school) and then gone back to opening and closing her hair clips over and over. If she missed any important information, she figured she would just fill in the gaps via context later.

She noticed Toru going through the weapons, though, and thought that it might be nice to stop using the dorm's silverware in battle. Someone, after all, was eventually going to notice the odd times when it went missing. "Any throwing weapons in that pile, Shirai-san?" she asked.

Reizo ignored the lot of it. Whatever boring shit they were discussing would undoubtedly be brought up again at a later point, and if he needed to he could just always have someone go over the major points with him. Thus far it just seemed to consist of people actually dying if left in paradise or something. He was really too busy eyeing Maeko for much listening. The way she’d flared up when he arrived was amusing, but the way she was now holding and staring up at the blade of her new knife was .. Troubling.

He thankfully switched his attention elsewhere, mainly the pile of weapons, when Toru and Toshimi moseyed over to inspect it. He frowned at Toshi’s question, scratched his head in thought, then started picking through the pile haphazardly.

“Pretty sure there’re some spikes or something around here, but maybe you oughta pick up something new to fight with, huh? This ain’t a video game with an infinite ammo code or something.”

Toshimi smiled pleasantly and shrugged, "I know what I'm good at." She sifted delicately through the pile, trying not to touch anything that looked too suspicious. She couldn't even tell what half of the weapons were supposed to be used for. "Although I suppose it would be easier not to have to go back and pick up my weapons after fighting..." She picked up what seemed to be a spiked club of some kind, walked a safe distance from everyone else, and swung it like a baseball bat. It didn't seem as safe as throwing knives, and wouldn't she tire out more quickly? It was rather heavy.

She returned it to the weapons pile with a sigh. "I could always bring in a bat, but..." Toshimi was a much stronger pitcher than she was a batter. "Throwing things is the closest thing to fighting I'm any good at. When we do kendo in gym class, I always--"

Toshimi's froze as she realized what she had mentioned. For half a second a shocked sort of expression crossed her face, but it was so quick that if an observer blinked, he would have missed it. She returned to her regular smile and kept going through the weapons. "But anyway. These should be useful. Thank you for bringing them, Shirai-san."

Carefully, trying to avoid catching Reizo's attention, Renju moved towards the pile of weapons. Since they'd apparently be a necessity in Paradise, she ought to pick one up, but kendo in gym class--with an inward wince, she pushed that thought out of her mind--was the closest she'd come to handling an actual weapon.

It was a little disturbing, picking through the pile and trying not to think about the source (not to mention avoid the blood), and it was compounded by the fact that she really didn't know quite what she was looking for. There were a couple of knives that felt almost comfortable in her hands, but what good would they do against these shadow creatures?

Misaki had noticed the reaction of Toshimi, but thought better then to mention it as the older girl seemed to not want to talk about it. She was looking through the bag along with Renju and motioned to some of the smaller items on the table, "I think there are some throwing stars or knives in here Toshimi-chan."

Kouchisei had turned from the window to watch people circle like vultures around the sack of weapons. His eyes were narrowed, and he folded his arms across his chest. The last thing he wanted was to thank that punk for anything.

"How many of you actually know what you're doing?" he asked.

Masami sat quietly sipping her tea. It was a lot to take in all at once. How long had everyone else been fighting while she was unaware of the whole ordeal?

Either way, there were a lot of questions. That seemed to be the trend ever since the second day of the trip to Masami. More and more questions, and not nearly enough answers... though she was beginning to wonder whether or not she actually wanted to know the answers to some of the questions she had.

The mention of kendo in gym class brought Masami's mind to a topic she had been intentionally not thinking about: Aomori-sensei. Though he had been coach of the kendo team, he actually hadn't shown up to practice all that often. Still, he had been a comforting presence for most of Masami's teammates during competitions. Masami herself hadn't been that close to him, but still...

Masami quickly redirected her thoughts before they turned too unhappy and focused on the heap of weapons in the room. She gingerly stood up and walked over to inspect the pile. While the source of the weapons was of... dubious trustworthiness, she guessed they might prove useful against those shadows or whatever were in Paradise.

It was only a couple moments before she found a katana, still in its sheath. The sheath had obviously seen better days, but when she tentatively drew the weapon, Masami found it to be in remarkably good condition... relative to the other weapons in the pile at least.

"I... think I'd be OK with using a sword like this," Masami said in response to Kouchisei's question.

Keiichi himself kept a considerable distance from the pile, observing it with a wary eye. Still...

"Shirai-san's right," Keiichi admitted. Grudgingly. "Take something if you need it. I've, err, started building a new weapon for myself back in the dorms, so I think I'll be okay."

"That would be counter productive, my lovely Kanaye-kun," Noriko replied with a sugar-coated smile, keeping her spot near the door, not seeming to want to come any closer.

Yeah, she was totally going to fit in here. The idea was already making her anxious, making her want to leave and go have a smoke.

Her people skills were atrocious.

Yuuto stared at the pile of weapons with an arched eyebrow. They were...apparently going to be necessary, unsurprisingly, going from what he heard about Paradise, but none of them were exactly what he had in mind. Bow and arrows were what he had the most experience with, and besides, there was something about the pile of weapons that just...went against certain principles. Or maybe that was residual fear of what his grandparents would think.

He turned to look at Noriko. "Combating bullies is surprisingly difficult," he said, in a rather flippant and non-serious tone.

"Fighting Shadows even more so."

Tom looked over the weapons, but thought that given the questionable nature of some of them, he should probably stick with the ones he had.

He looked up at the other new people, and crossed his arms.

"Paradise can be dangerous, and just because we have these Personas doesn't mean we should rely on them exclusively. All it takes is your phone getting knocked out of your hand, or accidentally running out of battery life to take your persona out of the fight.

Everyone should be capable of fighting without the use of a persona just in case."

Kiriko rolled her eyes. She was definitely not so stupid as to drop her phone or forget to charge or something, and just because Tom's persona was useless didn't mean hers had to be. All the same, she sifted through the sack for something approximating a whip.

"What we don't know is how many more of 'us' there are, and that's troublesome. I think we should also investigate Paradise. Like I said earlier, when Oubai-san and Ishinomori-san went missing, Paradise changed. We should look for any evidence of Aomori's presence."
