They had to wear the same thing but being from JRPGland it didn't really bother them. They only own two outfits per season anyway.

Intentionally baiting, if I understand the question.

They were planning to hold him there the same way they were holding the other 3. If he got killed it would sort of work counter to their endgoal of preserving their lives - even if he did turn on them.
