Action Scene: Padfoot runs from himself only to find the past isn't ever far behind

Sirius left Lily alone, thinking about all he'd said to her, and wondering if he'd gone round the twist or not. Remus has always been the sane one, the calm, cool and collected one and now, was he actually trying to fill those world weary shoes? Did Harry even need either of them any longer?

Groaning, he rubbed his face and sighed as he looked to the heavens and did the one thing that had always calmed him in the past. He shifted into Padfoot, shaking his fur and turning his nose to the sky. He inhaled the late afternoon scents and looked around the grounds. Taking off at a dash, running full out and hard, he tried to exhaust himself and his mind. Things were so much easier as a dog.

Skidding to a stop and panting, he spotted a figure in the distance. He sniffed the air, snuffling softly as he recognized the scent. He loped closer and changed back, leaning against a tree and breathing heavily as he closed his eyes.

"Come on out, I know you're there."

Sirius frowned, reaching forward to tuck Remus away, just to have the excuse to touch him again. "She's already suspicious, eh? When I've not done a thing until just now. Condemned yet again without evidence, without a trial," he murmured softly and let his hands fall away. "And people say I'm mad."

He looked up at Remus, his face closed off and his mouth drawn up tight. "It sounds to me that the pain was already there, Moony. I had nothing to do with it as I've been gone long enough for her to be secure in your love. If it is there."

He swallowed and cleared his throat. "As I said, the choice is ultimately up to you, but it sounds like she's already made it. Taken it from you, really. Suspicions and lies nearly tore us asunder the last time, Moony. It's happening again. Only this time, neither one of us is the cause of it. Do you really want that to happen to your family again?"
