Action Scene: Padfoot runs from himself only to find the past isn't ever far behind

Sirius left Lily alone, thinking about all he'd said to her, and wondering if he'd gone round the twist or not. Remus has always been the sane one, the calm, cool and collected one and now, was he actually trying to fill those world weary shoes? Did Harry even need either of them any longer?

Groaning, he rubbed his face and sighed as he looked to the heavens and did the one thing that had always calmed him in the past. He shifted into Padfoot, shaking his fur and turning his nose to the sky. He inhaled the late afternoon scents and looked around the grounds. Taking off at a dash, running full out and hard, he tried to exhaust himself and his mind. Things were so much easier as a dog.

Skidding to a stop and panting, he spotted a figure in the distance. He sniffed the air, snuffling softly as he recognized the scent. He loped closer and changed back, leaning against a tree and breathing heavily as he closed his eyes.

"Come on out, I know you're there."

Sirius looked up at him, searching Moony's face for a moment, the words he said only partially registering through his fogged brain. Remus had never felt better or more alive than he did right now in the palm of his hand. But it was more than that, because he could sense Moony, everywhere around him, inside of him, and the feeling was so thick, it was almost palatable. He had to have it.

He squeezed Remus gently and leaned forward, brushing their lips together. "You're right," he murmured quietly. "But this is for real. You have me and if it's always been right, why do you keep stopping us?" he growled softly.

"Because..." Remus gasped at the light pressure of Sirius's hand and the touch of his lips. 'Focus, Remus, focus...' He pulled away, completely away. "I'm married, Sirius. I have a child. Think what happens if we do this. I go back home and fulfull my duties to my family... then sneak off at night with one weak excuse or another to be with you. But we're always looking over out shoulder, always forcing ourselves to look away when in the same room, always wondering when the other shoe will drop," he paused, then continued quietly. "Tonks is already depressed out of her mind, and I'm certain she's already suspicious of you. Eventually, she realizes her fears are confirmed, and that last thread she's hanging on by snaps. I lose Teddy. He grows up without a father, most likely hating me, resenting me for what I did to his mother and family. I just... I can't do that to them, Sirius. And I can't let us be the thing that causes so much pain."
