Lorna was settled on the roof with a mug of cocoa in her hands waiting for Jubilee to do her thing. She'd set one of the cameras trained on the area, so anybody who didn't want to brave the snow and cold could watch from the camera room.

"Okay, they need to hurry the hell up," she said, even the slight green glow around her and Jubilee got brighter, along with the heat she was emanating. "I cannot keep this up forever."

Kurt didn't loose the grip of his tail until he was sure JP was steady on the slick, uneven surface. Not that he'd likely have fallen more than a few inches at most before he caught himself with his flight, but that didn't really matter. Besides, it was comfortable, and he didn't actually let go until JP slid down to the roof.

"Whiskey," he answered as he settled down next to him, though he'd waited for the flare of the fireworks as well as JP's own light to die away before he picked out his own spot, more comfortable in the darkness than with the glare. His tail curled back around JP's waist without his conscious permission and he settled his forearms on his raised knees as he looked back up for the next burst of color.

"Possibly more whiskey than coffee," he added. They had more whiskey at their disposal than coffee, after all.

"Mmmm, just how I like it." JP cooed and took a sip, feeling the burn of the alcohol even more than the heat of the coffee. Thankfully, he didn't need to go out anywhere tomorrow and could lounge around all day, useless and loving it, but the same couldn't be said for Kurt. "You should take it easy though, workin' man. You go out and about tomorrow."

The chide had no emphasis behind it, knowing that Kurt had consumed his fair share on many occasions only to be perfectly fine the following day. The bastard. JP was thankful that when he did get hung over he didn't technically get sick, but that didn't mean he wanted to get out of bed.

The tail was somewhat expected, and welcome, JP using one hand to hold the thermos as he took another drink, while the other played loosely at the appendage wrapped around him. Not near the tip, however. He knew better than that. "This is making me miss a good dose of irish cream. There has to be a way to make that. It's sad, really. For as much as I used to drink it I have no idea what goes into it other than kahlua and cream. Vodka, right?"

"Lush," Kurt answered as JP took a sip. "I'll leave it to you to get plastered enough for both of us for now, though I could probably drink you under the table and still be bright eyed and busy-tailed in the morning," he pointed out, grinning sidelong at JP as he took another sip.

He didn't even realize his tail had invited itself back around JP's waist until he felt fingers sliding almost absently along it, Gott sei danke well away from either the base or the spade. It twitched a bit in response, then tightened slightly and Kurt left it there, Jean-Paul among the few the intimacy of the touch didn't bother him from.

"You know, I have absolutely no idea what's in it at all," he admitted, after a moment's - not particularly intense - thought. He tended to stick to take his booze in the most straightforward form available, and always had: beer, vodka, whiskey, tequila. He'd never bothered with anything supposedly fancier and had little to no idea what went into any of it. "But if it's vodka I'm sure it can't be all bad."

JP was used to the tail's affections being sometimes a little separate from the rest of Kurt's, though sometimes he felt he enjoyed it more than was perhaps intended. Still, he wasn't about to move, staring up at the bright sparks of color erupting above them, wondering what exactly Jubilee had in mind for the night.

"There has to be a recipe for it somewhere. Chances are we already have most of the ingredients, or can find them pretty easily. I don't think any of them are perishable, other than the cream which we already can make." The luxury of having cows at your disposal, not that he knew what sort of effort went into their care, or making cream itself anyway. "It's a shame Bobby's being such a putz, the show's probably going to be amazing."

The tail's affections were more often in line with Kurt's own than he was inclined to let on. It was much safer that way, considering it tended to express them much more freely and without his conscious consent.

"You say 'we' as if you had the faintest idea how to go about getting cream out of a cow," Kurt teased, reaching across and confiscating the thermos for a drink of his own as he spoke. He passed it back after just a sip, though, letting the warmth of the coffee and the pleasant burn of the whiskey warm him against the chill JP's mention of Bobby, and the reminder if brought of his increasingly anti-social tendencies. "Perhaps you should have dragged him out to properly appreciate the extent of his handiwork."

"Hey, I know it involves the udders. And....churning, which is like...stirring, right?" It sounded reasonable enough to JP, who of course has no idea what he was talking about. He thought he was making a valiant effort in pretending, however. After all, how would Kurt know any more than he did? Then again, what if Kurt did no more than he did, and he was just sounding even more ridiculous? He decided that it was only Kurt and he really didn't care, settling more comfortably where he was, suddenly wishing he'd brought something to sit down on.

"I think he might be....busy with one of his friends." JP replied, knowing Kurt would understand what he meant, even if he wasn't sure that was what his partner was actually up to. "He's been a little weird since the night with the game, so maybe he's just taking a night off for himself." It sounded like he was more trying to convince himself that there was nothing more worrisome going on, but he'd already made up his mind to keep a closer eye on the other man. "I don't think he'd like it if I babysat him all the time, so maybe he sort of likes being enigmatic sometimes."

"I have absolutely no idea what churning involves," he admitted cheerfully after a moment to appreciate JP's valiant, if somewhat disjointed, effort to sound like he had some clue how cream was made available for his consumption. "And I have absolutely no interest in ever becoming personally acquainted with an udder."

He shifted as well when JP rearranged himself slightly, pressing up against JP from shoulder to hip as the cold from the roof began to penetrate. He imagined it had to be worse for JP without the insulating benefits of a fur coat. "It's a shame he chose the night of the first fireworks we've seen in two years that weren't a gas main or an explosives stockpile going up to be enigmatic," Kurt commented mildly when JP had finished his explanation of Bobby's absence. He might be worried about the other man, but he wasn't going to saddle JP with it when it might be - most probably was, he assured himself - nothing but his own well-earned paranoia...and something he wasn't going to think about again tonight, because it made his stomach twist and his chest go tight. "But if nothing else he's definitely warmer than we are," he added, leaning more heavily into JP's warmth.

"Pretty sure it's stirring. Or some vigorous variation thereof." JP nodded firmly, as if his own thoughts on the matter would somehow make the process as like to it as possible just by his will alone. If only the world actually worked that way. "I've heard it's an awful lot like holding a penis but I have a hard time believing that. I'm not about to go investigate to find out, though if that happens to be the case then I'm probably already a pro at milking." He raised his thermos is a mock toast and took another drink from it, like that would spare the effects of his running mouth.

As far as feeling the cold, JP had a relatively high tolerance with all the flying he did, especially at greater heights, but that didn't mean he wasn't feeling the chill currently, or that he wasn't going to appreciate another body in such close proximity. "It's Bobby, you can't knock him for his timing," JP drawled lightly, though he glanced over at the other roof for a moment to see if he could potentially make out the man's form among the gathering crowd. Unfortunately, he could barely make out Jimmy, which was saying something.

What the hell was Jimmy doing on the roof?

He ignored the weirdness of that, leaning back against Kurt as he shrugged. "I bet he's not snuggling something cute and fuzzy though, unless he got his hands on Lupin." Lupin, of course, being the ragged old stuffed dog JP kept mostly-hidden in his closet, a childhood friend of his that had only been brought out a few times during his most drunken, lighthearted stupors, several of which both Bobby and Kurt had been present for. If Lupin ever minded he never said anything.

Kurt was very glad that JP was in possession of the thermos when he got around to comparing milking to holding a penis, because he was fairly sure if he'd been drinking it would have ended with either a spit-take or his sinuses being irrigated with spiked coffee. Neither prospect was at all appealing, and he was glad to limit himself to a startled snort.

"You realize I have an almost overwhelming urge to test this theory now." And the outcome would be equally amusing were JP either excessively good or excessively bad at it...though perhaps a bit disappointing if it turned out he was simply average.

Kurt followed Jean-Paul's gaze, easily picking out the occupants of the other roof in between the bursts of colored light. Definitely no sign of Bobby, though he didn't expect to see him there and he shrugged it off mentally as he turned his attention back to the next burst of colored lights...and to JP's comment.

"Excue me, Herr Beaubier?" He turned his head to the side to fix JP with a glowing golden stare, much more baleful than the teasing look he actually intended due to the darkness. "Are you comparing me to a disreputable plush dog?"

"I'd rather not make that much of a spectacle of myself, thanks. Especially when there might be children present. 'Testing' of that theory should be kept to specifically privileged folks and not the general public. I'm not exhibitionist. Usually." He cleared his throat a little before scoffing as Kurt slandered his precious pooch.

"I'll have you know that that 'disreputable plush dog' happens to be a fine, well-bred gentleman, sir." He drew his arm back, very lightly elbowing Kurt. Afterward, he relaxed more against him, watching the fireworks for another few seconds before speaking again. "He actually might be jealous, honestly. You get a lot more cuddle time than he does these days. I think he's starting to think I don't love him."

Kurt snorted, again just as happy he wasn't drinking. "I wasn't asking you to blow the cow, Züegig. I think it should be safe for you to get your hands on one without giving the impression that you're trying to molest it, unless your...technique...where penises are involved is entirely more explicit than my possibly limited imagination can conjure."

He 'oofed' quietly at the elbow to his ribs, the reaction entirely unjustified by the lightness of the touch. "Your 'fine, well-bred gentleman' is missing patches of fur," Kurt pointed out mock-primly, even as he leaned comfortably into the press of JP against him and his tail tightened its grip at the other man's waist, the spade twitching absently against his hip. "But if you're so concerned about his mental state you could always bring him out for cuddles before you're completely trashed."

"I wasn't insinuating my mouth would be involved, but thank you for the severely disturbing mental imagery. Anyway, it's been so long who knows what impression my skill level gives off anymore." JP waved his hand dismissively in the air a bit, taking one more drink from the container before deciding he was done with it for now.

"He got more than his fair share of cuddles back in the day. He knows where he stands. And all those missing patches just means he was well-loved. I'm sure when you've had someone clinging lovingly to you for almost three decades you'll start going bald too. And I doubt you'll complain, or care if other people have anything to say about it." He finished that statement by flicking his tongue out childishly, tasting the contents of the thermos on his lips.

"I was simply pointing out that there wasn't likely to be anything terribly erotic about your technique when transferred from cocks to udders." Kurt grinned impishly and prodded JP lightly in the side with his tail. "But I'm happy to have provided bonus mental scarring."

He snagged the thermos from JP and took a drink himself, watching over the rim as more sparkles burst across the sky and refracted through the ice sculptures below before screwing the lid back on, setting it aside, and turning back to JP just in time to see his tongue flick out. He snorted and reached out to flick the errant appendage with a thick finger. It seemed a much safer response than his initial impulse. "Very mature, Herr Beaubier, but I certainly hope not. The loving clinging I could happily live with, but I think if they're rubbing my fur off perhaps they're clinging somewhat too tightly."

"I don't think the cow would appreciate it either, to be perfectly honest." JP finished before adding. "And I think we're in dire need of a topic change before I have a hard time looking at a cow the same way." Not that he ever went near the barn area or saw the cows much to begin with. He didn't have anything against animals, but had such an overall lack of experience with them that there was little point in wandering down there without a reason anyway.

"It would just be breaking you in, like a nice pair of pants," he reasoned thoughtfully, though sounded a little distracted as his eyes followed another bright spark in the sky. "I wonder if anyone else is watching this." The words came almost accidentally, as if they'd completely bypassed his brain and simply spouted out of his mouth, and he paused once he realized he'd actually spoken then. Still, he followed up, imagining there was little point in stopping now. "On the other side of the wall, I mean." His mind noted 'if there's anyone alive to see it', and thankfully he managed to stop himself before he said it aloud.

Kurt snorted again, a quiet laugh as he leaned back on his hands and looked up to the sky, though before he could answer JP was speaking again. He sighed, tipping his head back and imagining what someone beyond the wall must think, seeing such a display.

"There are others out there," he murmured. Others besides the thugs and looters who passed through on occasion, preying on the innocent, and sometimes making the mistake of trying to prey on them as well. "Maybe...maybe it will bring them to us." Things weren't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but they could support more if they had to. They could do more to be able to support them if they had to.

"Mm," was JP's only reply, his eyes following the movement of the lights again without really looking at them, seemingly lost in thought. His mind, however, suddenly couldn't seem to get past the word 'pretty', which would have been a relief if the Canadian had been paying attention. The topic at hand usually brought on a slew of less-than-pleasant memories and mental pictures that JP honestly didn't want to deal with for the night.

"I'm stealing you tonight." The words were clear, affirmative, as if Kurt had no choice in the matter at all, and JP made no move to glance back and see whether or not they were being properly received. They didn't sound like an order, just a statement of fact, though he hardly thought Kurt would have anything to say to deflect them.

Kurt's mind was taking its own side-trip along paths better left untrodden, and he stared fixedly at the colors bursting across the sky above them, as though the light and glare could burn less pleasant images away. Jean-Paul's voice, when it came again, was a more than welcome distraction, and Kurt turned his attention to him instead.

"Stealing me from what is the question." He smiled faintly, the barest twitch of his lips, and slipped one hand up JP's back to thread thick fingers into his hair in a loose grip. Something to hold onto. "Nothing I'd rather be doing, certainly."
