Lorna was settled on the roof with a mug of cocoa in her hands waiting for Jubilee to do her thing. She'd set one of the cameras trained on the area, so anybody who didn't want to brave the snow and cold could watch from the camera room.

"Okay, they need to hurry the hell up," she said, even the slight green glow around her and Jubilee got brighter, along with the heat she was emanating. "I cannot keep this up forever."

It didn't take Jimmy long to get up on the roof. It creaked a bit in protest of his weight, but the mansion was in good repair and the roof was reinforced.

He paused as he saw Ororo sitting with Lorna and Jubilee. A small smile crossed his face when she noticed him. He gave her a nod, then started casting around for Alisa.

Her footprints made it much easier to find her. Careful to stop a few feet from where they stopped so as not to walk into her, he crouched down.

It was really beautiful, the way the fireworks reflected off the ice. He hoped it was just as amazing for everyone else who didn't see things with such clarity and sharpness as he did.

"I'm glad you came," he told Alisa, looking towards the directed he knew she was. "It's pretty. I wish everybody could see it as well as I do."

Alisa looked Jimmy's way when she heard the roof creak a little. Maybe this had been a bad idea to bring the big guy up here. But it seemed to hold and he was apparently quite capable of maneuvering across the roof without problem.

She scooted a little closer to him once he settled down on the roof, setting a hand on his arm so he'd know exactly where she was at all times. Or at least have a better aproximation. "I probably would have come anyway," now her voice was only directed towards him, "You just wouldn't have known."

A little, hidden smile flickered only for herself, "I may not be able to see it as well but I certainly have an appreciation for it anyhow. Kind of a complicated feeling having to do with sudden visibility that I can't really explain."

Most things, even when reinforced, creaked under his weight. The world was just not made for someone his size and weight. One of the things he envied Piotr for. He got to be more normal sized most of the time.

Jimmy looked down as he felt her hand on his arm through his jacket. It was strange to see the slight depression, a few extra folds that no one else would notice, especially in the dimness of the night. He could sense the weight of her hand as well. But couldn't see it at all. It was fascinating really.

"I would have known," he assured her with a small smile. "I just wouldn't have said anything. Like this afternoon. You always come, even if you just watch." Which was a start. Maybe if he kept quietly encouraging her, she'd inch out her shell a little further.

Jimmy chuckled softly at the conversations, cheers and pops that buzzed away near them. "I think everybody appreciates in their own way, but sometimes, the way I see the world, so clear and detailed and amazingly rich, I'd love to shared with someone. But there never seems to be the right words."

He'd never been good with words anyway. English especially, since there were so many concepts in Tinde that just didn't translate.

Alisa shook her head, "No you wouldn't have. I would've been sure to stay away from where you could really smell me. I'm not stupid you know." She didn't sound offended, merely amused. Jimmy either underestimated her ability to hide or overestimated his sense of smell. One of the two.

"Of course there isn't. It's like me trying to explain invisibility. It's one of those things where you just can't understand it unless you experience it. And you, big guy, ain't ever gonna experience it," Alisa laughed, grinning broadly and leaning a little against his arm. Jimmy was just easy to be around. Enough that, for the moment, she forgot she was supposed to be unseen and flickered back into existence.

"There's other ways to find you," he told her. "Like footprints, and depresses in the ground. I could see where your hand was resting on my arm even though I couldn't see your hand. And now that I've told you that, you'll remember and have an easier time hiding from me."

Jimmy chuckled at her words. "I do a pretty good job of not being noticed when I don't want to be," he defended. He didn't acknowledge her becoming visible, even though he was surprised she did.

He just smiled at her. Where his eyes were focusing shifted slightly though. He'd been looking at just about where he could hear her voice from, now he could actually meet her eyes. He did for a minute then turned his head back to Jubilee's fireworks show.

"What that supposed to be a rabbit?" he joked, squinting a little.

"Mm, I can't help the footprints though I try. And you know damned well I do," she bit her bottom lip lightly, making sure to keep her eyes on the fireworks - the sparkling lights dazzling their way through the sky, "I don't exactly mind you finding me."

Alisa just snorted. She always noticed him but then she was ridiculously observant. It was kind of her job. Only it was only a job to her because she had made it that way. Some might accuse her of spying on the residents - they likely wouldn't be wrong.

She covered her mouth when she laughed, hiding her grin behind her hand, "More like a squashed marshmallow thing, right?" She loved to tease Jubilee. The girl could take as well as give.

"I can teach you to cover your tracks," he told her. "It's not as hard as it sounds. As light as you are, it'll be much easier for you to do it than me. I usually tell now if someone's done it, because of my senses, but I'll help you practice if you want as well." It would be good practice for both of them, really.

Everybody noticed Jimmy, they just didn't really see him. They were used to him being around, just silently watching over the compound. It could be said he spied as well, although he tried to be an uninvasive as possible.

Jimmy actually laughed at that. It wasn't a loud or long laugh, but it was definitely more than the reserved chuckles he usually allowed himself. "It was definitely a blob," he said. "A rabbit shaped blob."

"I don't know why we haven't been doing that already actually. That'd be good training. It'd make me more useful around here. Maybe." It probably wasn't a good idea to teach her how to be more invisible but any training was good training.

She couldn't really argue with that one, not knowing if she really Saw him by his definition. "Although hiding tracks in snow makes me think of 101 Dalmatians." Sweet animated puppies using a branch to sweep away footprints. Daw.

"Rabbits aren't even pink. I mean really, couldn't we be a little realistic here? Although I suppose a gray or brown bunny would be kind of boring as a firework." Alright, now she was over thinking this but she was kind of trying to get that laugh out of Jimmy again. It had kind of startled her.

Jimmy's brow furrowed. "I don't know why we haven't either," he said. "Probably because I didn't think you wanted to be bothered. I'm glad I was wrong."

One of the things he didn't want to admit was the fact they had to start training the younger members of the colony to do the dangerous jobs like running and scouting. There was no guarantee any of them would survive and they couldn't be left behind helpless. He grew serious for a moment. "I will teach you then," he told her. "And to track if you want. It's not as hard as it sounds. I learned as a little boy." His gaze went down. "John taught me."

Jimmy gave Alisa a smile, although now it was much more subdued because he'd brought up John. Which was always sobering and reminded him of everything that had been lost and everything he had to live up to. "White," he agreed, trying to stay in the spirit of things. "White rabbits are good."

"Just because I'm invisible doesn't mean you can't bother me. It's just... More of a natural state for me I guess. Like you have to be tall, I feel like I have to be invisible."

Alisa nodded to both as she felt she should learn both. It'd be more than useful. Although really, training program after training program was really her own doing. Who really needed to do like high school classes any more? SATs were a thing of the past and there was a new world order. It required the ability to track, hide and fight. "Sounds like a good plan. And probably best to start now when there's snow. I assume it would be harder to hide but easier to track."

She glanced up at him when he mentioned John and the way the world seemed to crumble around and inside him. "Hm... I think we have enough white around here with all the snow."

"I said I was glad I was wrong about that," he reminded her gently. "And I understand. Exactly because of that. We are our powers make us, denying that only hurts people."

Jimmy offered her another small smile. "Yeah," he agreed. "And it is and it isn't. Depends on the kind of snow. There are a lot worse things to try and hide tracks through."

His world had crumbled around him when John had died. He'd only finally really started recovering from it and making his own path when his tribe had died. Remembering John meant remembering them. And the overwhelming loss.

He did chuckle at her words. "Probably," he agreed wryly.

"I know. I'm just, you know, elaborating. Or talking to hear myself. Something." Alisa scratched the back of her head with a mittened hand which was actually kind of hard to do as they were pretty thick.

"Sucking mud?" she started to guess. "Clay dirt? Oil? Fertilizer. Definitely fertilizer." Another one of those times where the smell would likely get to Jimmy - hiding tracks in fertilizer.

Alisa kind of felt at fault for ruining his mood - she didn't know how really but she did. And though she couldn't really properly hug him, she could at least hug his arm.

Okay, he had to chuckle at her list. "Sucking mud," he agreed. "Oil really doesn't leave tracks until you get out of it. I don't think I could trudge through fertilizer. I hope I never find out."

He felt badly for being moody, especially since he'd invited her to sit with him. The squeeze of his arm was comforting. He patted her hand gently with own massive and gave her a small smile.

It wasn't her fault at all.

"True for oil but once you get out of it, it leaves a hell of a trail." She giggled a little when he agreed about the fertilizer. See, she knew how to deal with him - it was just a matter of putting it into practice, wasn't it?

For a lingering moment she wasn't exactly watching the fireworks... But watching Jimmy, sucking in her bottom lip. But when she realized she was doing it, she looked away sharply and was suddenly invisible again. Fireworks. Focus on the fireworks.

Jimmy let out a little snort. "I imagine it would," he agreed. He was surprised at the giggle. It was not a sound he'd heard from her.

He almost felt her watching him and looked up just in time to see her look away. Then she disappeared from his sight, although the slight weight of her arms was still around his arm. Carefully, he gently rested a hand on where he could feel hers were and turned his attention back to the display.

The way Jubilee was cutting loose now, he might not be able to watch directly much longer. He put up his other hand to shield his eyes, squinting a bit. It was still beautiful.

Alisa smiled a little, "I remember one time dad's car has an oil leak. My brother's dog got completely covered in oil after rolling around in it. We had paw prints everywhere." Telling the story didn't even bother her. Maybe it should have but... That sort of thing was long past over.

But her smile had faded with Jimmy's and talk of John. She bit her bottom lip and twisted her hand - not to get away but until they were palm to palm, fingers together even though it meant she had to spread them a little.

She settled into silence, watching the colored sparks fly through the air... Jubilee was quite talented.

Jimmy has to laugh softly at that. "I bet," he agreed. It was nice to hear her talk about her past at all. Actually, it was nice to hear her talk.

He was surprised when she turned her palm towards his and laced her fingers through his. Jimmy squeezed Alisa's hand gently, the only indication he noticed.

Settling into a comfortable silence was more than fine with Jimmy. The had really turned out better than he had expected.
