Kim Jongwoon belongs to a relatively rich family living in South Korea. His parents (despite not being doctors), own majority of the shares in one of the largest hospitals in Seoul. Jongwoon, being the older child, was expected to pursue Medicine and become a doctor by profession, all in preparation for the future turnover of the management of the company to their family. Because of this, Jongwoon (and his brother Jongjin) were sent to the best private schools, following a rigid schedule focused solely on studying, and getting the highest grade point average possible. Jongjin had no problems with the rigorous schedule, not caring if he had no time for extra-curricular activities. Jongwoon on the other hand was slowly cracking under the pressure-his mind was always fleeting; instead of studying his lessons, he turned to his piano, learning on his own in secret, composing melodies that sung of wishes, of dreams, of wanting to be free. Under the excuse of studying after classes, he joined the Music Club, learning how to hone his voice, until his peers stared and clapped in admiration whenever he sang. Jongjin, in a fit of anger and jealousy (for Jongwoon was still the favored child, and their parents turned a blind eye on him), showed to their father all of his brother's compositions; sheets and sheets of music that have accumulated for years. All of Jongwoon's compositions were burned that night, and the piano sold the next day. As his father was berating him, screaming at him how ungrateful he was, how undeserving, how much of a disappointment he'd come to be, Jongwoon stayed silent, and just took it all in: the curses, the hurtful words, the beatings. After that incident, Jongwoon started withdrawing into himself. He left all the groups he was in, stopped looking anyone in the eye, stopped speaking unless necessary. He stopped composing, singing even. What he did was he studied hard, pulled all of his falling grades up, and excelled in his final two years in highschool. He did everything his parents expected him to do, and they did not find any fault with any of his actions any longer. The day after his graduation, his mother, a bit surprised why her son was still sleeping when it was already lunch time, knocked on his door to wake him up. Upon forcing it open after receiving no response, she was surprised to see the room empty.
Jongwoon, at the age of 18, with only a small suitcase of clothing, his meager English skills, and his small inheritance from his grandfather, had left home and flown to New York.
During the next four years, Jongwoon went through a variety of odd jobs, and a couple of rundown apartments, as he persevered to save enough money to go to college. During his second year of stay in New York, he picked up a stray puppy, had it checked at the local vet, before bringing it home to the small place he shared with a Japanese guy who knew as much English as he did. The puppy was christened Inu (for it was all his Japanese room mate would call the little fellow), and has been with Jongwoon ever since.
At age 22, Jongwoon is now mostly fluent in English, has picked up a few Japanese phrases courtesy of his former room mate, and is in his second year taking up Business in a local university with a full scholarship (for even if his inner dream is to get into Juillard, he knows he's not good enough for it, and he must be practical to survive), and living in an apartment much better than his previous ones, and at a better part of the city too, with Inu still at his side. He also has a kind grandmother living next door, and he leaves Inu with her before going he goes to school, or work, the old lady grateful for the animal's company.
Three times a week (Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays), he sings at one of the local bars, known to the usual patrons as Yesung. He's actually being persuaded by the manager to come more often, but he always refuses, his studies his always excuse. But his real reason was he was afraid to get addicted to the essence of who Yesung is-carefree, having no worries except singing on stage, belting out notes that had some of the female guests crying from its sheer beauty-reminding all too much of his previous self that had died when he was 16, and he buried when he left Korea.
Jongwoon hasn't fallen in love before. All he's had are casual flings here and there, of both sexes, none of them persons he himself sought after. He may be known for singing love songs at night, but it didn't mean he could understand what it was. Sex was easier to get, and get it he did.
He doesn't know he is a vampire. He has a fascination for the color of blood though, as can be seen from his clothing style composed mainly of black and red. He's never realized it was his teeth that pierced his former lovers' mouths, too caught up in the heady sensation caused by the taste. He can't explain the urges he gets though, all he knows is whenever he's singing (or having sex), he gets a rush that drowns those urgings.
Jongwoon is a quiet person, very much withdrawn to himself, and is really not the sociable type to make friends with everyone, especially in person. He's better though, when he can't see the person he's talking to, that's why he was willing to try this new forum he found while randomly surfing online.
Preferred RP Style: *action* and paragraph are both fine, preferably on IJ, but MSN and AIM are okay (just have to work out timezones XD) Anything Else: HI.
